Have you got the rotary set up for CONST or PULSE in the wheel menu?

I remember that setting. I have it set to CONST so that may indeed be the issue you're having, @EuroVapeSim2.

Also, have you updated the wheel and base to the latest firmware? There may be an issue with older FWs.

So I got it sorted after playing around in settings in game and in the fanatec software today, I have been running the csl dd in pc compatability mode and it shows in a game as csw2.5, I changed it to pc mode (I thought it still wasn't fully working as fanatec still recommend compatability mode) and rebound all the buttons and encoders, I was still having the same problem where tc and abs would change up but not down or reverse the inputs. Changing constant to encoder in fanalab while running in pc mode is what made them work in the end.

I got such a nice start, up from 4th to 2nd and going well albeit nowhere near as quickly as @winky. Then a trademark lapse in concentration made me spin out of the last corner and I had to let everyone by. Was doing quite nicely making up for that, back to 7th or 6th I think, and then my Quest went weird and the game lost connection. Took about 2 minutes to get it back on and by then had plenty of damage from not being able to stop the car safely (it happened at pretty much top speed on the main straight!).

With all that said, the way the rain went away and came back and switched from drizzle to proper rain made it really interesting to drive in and I had some fun chasing people while a lap down so I could at least drive near some battles.

Hope you can get your pedals sorted, @Count Buffalos. And @mrben09 you nearly held me off at the end, there were only 3 laps to go I think. Unlucky mate.

Brilliant racing guys 😀

Well done on the win @winky, did you let me go after we had contact?  Or did you just run a bit wide?  If you gave the place back, thanks; although I wouldn't have begrudged dropping the place.  It was touch and go I think.  I'd have felt bad if I went on to win after that, so a worthy victory for you in the end. 👍

@davejm No I ran wide, because I was struggling a bit with the tyres. It was a good battle. I felt I was faster in a few of the sector 1/2 corners but then you would just fly though that second last corner and I could not take that anywhere as near as fast, so it was a good battle.

Id like to thank the team, the sponsors, etc. And thanks to all the people who got out my way.

Today has been such a good day for me. At the start of December my partner broke up with me and it was doubly hard because she was my best friend before we got together. I don't have a huge number of friends because I can get socially anxious and have a few issues. Before Christmas I was really low and had some dark thoughts but getting to race with you guys was really helpful. I feel lucky to be part of this community.

I have been losing weight since the break-up and I finally hit 3 stone lost today. This is a huge deal because I had real issues with how I looked. And I managed to set up a date for tomorrow - so an amazing day.

I may be enhanced right now hence the openness.

Ooof, I can totally relate to this mate.  I went through the same thing in September and still suffering quite badly with the fall out to the breakup; but there's no doubt my Thursday evenings with you guys have helped.

Good luck for the date, that's brilliant!

Well that was a great race.

I started out tonight in a right panic due to hardware gremlins.  I couldn't get my new Quest 2 to connect over Oculus Link.  It's worked fine before, but tonight it seems to be stuck in Stationary mode, rather than Roomscale mode (it wont change even after I tell it to), and every time I tried to enable the link it fades out and then right back to the Quest dash.  Will investigate tomorrow.

So a quick scramble to set up a monitor for the race.  Racing in "waffle-o-vison" (tm @Meers) vs being in VR for the last 18 months meant all my brake references were  messed up, so practice was really just damage limitation.  Qualified 9th.  Probably would've been last if Dan had set a valid time.

In the race itself I had a good battle with @mrben09 for the opening quarter of the race or so.  We traded places a few times.  All nice and clean

Later I had some great racing with @Meers where I reeled him in over 5 or so laps and managed an overtake, only for him to pit a few corners later.

I then pitted right in the middle of that dry spell - and chose to go back out on wets.  The forecast said 6 minutes till showers.... and I figured I'd be fine till then.

Well those dry 6 minutes were the longest minutes of my life.  My tyres went bright red by the end of lap 1 and I was so slow.  Meers closed down an 9 second deficit in about 3 laps!  I held him up for another 2 by driving super defensively, but when he got past, he was off like a rocket.

I was gutted.

And then the rain fell.

My tyres instantly pinged back into the green, the grip came back and I found myself catching a slippin' and slidin' Meers again.  I squeezed past at turn one as he slithered wide - and I managed to stay on track without error, to finish a very pleasing 6th!

Well done @winky for the win!  Nice to see it rounded out a crackingly good day too! 🍻

As is now tradition - here are the race highlights:

@davejm watching that replay yeah I don’t give you enough space sorry, lack of awareness. I blame my coach, Max Verstappen for that. Would have joined you for LFM races if I was about today.

You've got more exciting things to partake in!

Sorry guys, had to bail. Continued pedal issues and extensive car damage made it all a bit miserable for me. Apologies to @Meers too, that punt was 100% my fault dude, sorry.

No worries mate, racing incident. I was braking a bit earlier than normal to compensate for the rainy conditions in order to accelerate out of the corners faster (the Max Verstappen way). It caught @Milko out as well.

Sorry to hear of your troubles mate, good that you've found positives out of it though! And good to hear that you can find solace in this community. Long may our racing and banter continue!

If anyone's around tomorrow evening I'm going to do a couple of LFM races.

I still have to qualify for LFM. I'll get to it in the coming week.

I recently qualified for the new World Tour endurance series over at RCI. You have to do 10 consecutive laps within 107%, still waiting for confirmation on whether I made the cut or not.

We could still use more drivers for the longer racers, chaps... (you don't need to qualify for them). 😊

Thanks meers. Have a stroopwaffle on me.

I could not handle the stress of being part of a team. It’s stressful enough as a solo and worrying that you ruin someone’s night 😀

Loving that splash screen!

I had immense fun last night, and the finale was epic (when the rain came back in). Great scrapping for positions everywhere and a good opening race in general. Now if you guys would shtopp hitting me, that'd be great. 😜

And I was very happy last night with my performance after I did yet another graphical tweak in order to get better graphics. As I've told you guys earlier, I've been jumping between FXAA in combination with FSR (high Q mode) and KTAA/TAA in combination with FSR (on quality, because those cost about 10fps each). All those settings will make ACC run at 1440p60 @16ms on my crummy laptop.

However, I've ditched the Temporal AA options now completely because they make the image a bit blurry and they show artefacts on polygon edges at high speeds. FXAA is crispy clear and gives me 10fps extra, but it looks jaggy as hell even when AA is set to epic. I don't remember who it was, but someone tipped me (thanks!) to to fiddle with the graphics options for ACC specifically in the nVidia panel, and change a couple of AA settings in there to higher values (because all the values were 2x in there, and I think ACC uses 2x as well?). So I've went for the maximum everywhere...

And holy shit, there's barely any jaggies visible anymore, and the game still runs as well as before! Why did I not do this earlier?! :omg:

It honestly isn't as stressful as it may seem. I was quite nervous and unsure if I could handle the pressure at first, but after two races I think I'm doing pretty well. Feels really good when you end a stint without losing (or even gaining) positions, or when you haven't made any mistakes or incidents. The team's really chill as well.

Any of you Thrustmaster owners got the new driver, think it came out in December but I only found out yesterday. It's got a new 'T-Boost' setting that defaults to off, but early reports online seem to like it being on. I tried it last night and wasn't totally sure - there's a lot more force in corners and you need to dial down the gain to compensate.

Fantastic racing with you guys again, and well done @winky on the win!

I got some slight aero damage in the first corner kerfuffle but subsequently forgot about it - so much so that when I made my stop half way through and BRAVELY switched to wets (not at all stupidly) I forgot to untick the 'fix damage' options so spent almost a minute stationary. Gah!

Is it me or have they removed the 'tyre set' option from the pit strategy bit of the setup menu? I couldn't see how to tell it not to change tyres as part of that.

Man, this game - the 'aaarrghhhh' I felt as I trundled down the pit lane trying to decide between wets or dries was amazing. Then the rain stopped - yay! Then it started again, boo!

Love it.

(I will of course hate it soon again when I'm too slow, but for now.. 🥰 )

I didn't think you could ever tell it not to change tyres in advance, but yes I think 1.8 changed how sets are handled there. I unticked that one on the start grid... And then re-ticked it after my disaster so I could gamble a on dry set.

Yeah, I haven't checked the timing of the races but if there's one at 6:15 that'll be doable I think.  And maybe a couple more later.

I'm gonna go for the 6.15pm sprint one.

Confusing season as they seem to keep changing licence definitions and requirements. So far for week 1 I had to go Sprint (after it briefly saying that I had to go Rookie when I'd checked earlier), week 2 things changed and I had to go Rookie and it looked like that would be the case for at least 5 races, now I look and my status is up to 'IRON' already/again and I am back in sprint. Server #11852 anyway. I expect a first lap punt will take me out and I'll be back in the Rookie class before I know what's going on again.
