Assetto Corsa Competizione | Season 13 Round 1 | GT4 Mini-Series @ Oulton Park

No SA restriction.  As the platform is still in beta I guess they just want people on board testing.  It was a higher quality race than any public lobbies I've entered though.  Despite turn 1, there were hardly any yellow flags all race.

I’ve pre ordered for Xbox. I’m thinking I’ll probably ends up with a series x so hoping if it doesn’t run well, performance boost will help out a few months later...

Tempted to double dip on PS4 but I’d like to see it running on a base console first.

I'll be on PS4 for this, would hope to race some of you online which it arrives :)

Just grabbed the result files from the server.  Here are the timings so far...

I've done a low 1:51 around Monza during a single player race, but I tend to do 1:52s most of the time.

It’s could be track conditions (Fast rather than Optimum and track temp) or I’m out of practice (bit of both probably) but I’m +1 sec slower than my regular times. It could even be an update has changed things as the Lambo seems more grippy than I remember but that might just be coming off the back of wet laps at Spa.

Info has been put on the 505 site on the console release: https://acc.505games.com/console-community-faq-guide/

Pleased to see 4K and other shiny effects for PS4 Pro/One X. Pre ordered for the X, £29.85 with the pre order DLC at Simply Games if anyone is interested.

Preview event held today:

No mention off frame rate beyond 30fps on the website.

I preordered on Xbox hoping the one x would have 1080p 60fps (well hoping it’d do that on a series x basically, I don’t have a one x).

With no cross console multiplayer, do I cancel and go for the PS4 version, which most on here seem to be aiming for, or stick with my plan for potentially more shininess at the end of the year... hmm.

Why does ACC look and feel worse then AC? something is not right. Not just on console but on PC. Its doesnt' look right at sub 60.

In what way? You mean just the movement of the cars? Is it multiplayer, if so could it be lag, ideally each player should have a full green bar to the side of their number (or maybe name, can’t remember).

So looks as though you can’t preorder on PSN but according to GT Planet the ICGT tracks will still be included as a bonus until July 7, bit odd.

At least I don’t need to rush and can wait for some impressions of the base PS4 version.

Had an epic battle around Spa tonight, on some random server.  Was chasing some guy for around 6 laps, and we swapped position a couple of times and then I took him on the final corner.  Flippin' eck it was the most satisfying thing!!

Safety rating is up to 70 now too, so that opens up lots of servers that seemingly have that as their threshold.

Can't quite put my finger on it. It just doesn't seem as smooth - but yeah - movement of the cars.

Youtube: RLLMUK ACC Monza Practice

I didn’t feel great on the brakes last night, so tonight I closed the brake ducts to 2/2, lowered tyre pressures by 0.5 all round and set brake bias to 58. Managed to knock 8 tenths off my lap time and the car felt much better on the brakes.

PS.how do I embed a video so that it shows as the video rather than a link?

Since you said we both appear to have about the same hardware setup, I say it's pooly optimised for the low-mid spec PC. Even when the Nvidia counter says 60fps on my system, it somehow feels sub-60 due to some occasional micro-stuttering. AC is definitely smoother on my system.

So I went through another night in search of better performance. I switched v-synch on and motion blur enabled (I know, I know...), and that dropped the frames down to 40. Upped some visual effects which didn't seem to drop the frames any further so I decided to cap it to 30fps instead. That gave me a stable 30fps with prettier graphics this time, which is the next best thing I suppose, better than an unstable 60. So I'm going to settle with that.

This one could be a bit of a deal-breaker for those of us getting this on console and hoping to do some multiplayer:

'At the time of writing, there are no private lobbies in Assetto Corsa Competizione.'

That sucks the big one. I'm sure it will be added at some point, but if you can get public lobbies sorted at launch, then surely private lobbies are less of a challenge to get implemented? It baffles my mind.

But what do I know?

Given a fair amount of GT Sport playing forumites and friends are getting ACC for PS4, joining in there could prove more interesting in the long run :)

That's a bummer for sure. Though it doesn't have to be a massive dealbreaker as long as you're at least able to join friends racing in (open) lobbies.

Also, I'm hoping/expecting them to add private lobbies post-launch, like Wreckfest did a few months after release too, in fact.

Yes, that's what I was thinking, also my Xbox is in the living room, whilst my ps4 is in my games room, so it's hassle to kick the wife and kid out and move the wheel / seat in...

So as it stands, it's shiny and maybe decent frame rate (eventually, on series X) vs. 30fps and online racing with rllmuk - and me at the back ;)

I'm going to end up with F1 2020 on Xbox as well via the offer when I bought my wheel.

If Sony announced some sort of BC, and compatibility with existing wheels on ps5, then perhaps I'd shift to one of those rather than a Series X, but that's another story.

What i'd suggest is turn off vsync and locking max frames to the lowest framerate you can achieve. It'll be more then 30 so should run smoother. Vsync can introduce lag a little.

I'll give that a go, thanks!
