How do I change the PLY thing against my name in the timesheet again?  Is that an in-game thing?

Yeah it's in-game. Go to the Driver option in the main menu and then in the customise tab you can change your abbreviation.

Just wanted to pop in here after a dinner break before going out back to work and say hi. Enjoy the race today folks, good luck with the Radillons, Puhons and Blanchimont! Have fun racing each other hard but fair, and make sure you have plenty of laughs before the evening ends. Gutted I wasn´t able to join but hopefully life will treat me better next week 😄

That was really fun.  The second race more-so with the battling at the start and then the chasing down of @milko.  Was seriously gutted for you when you lost it mate; I think you would have held on due to your raw pace otherwise.  I got quite close at one stage but you were quicker overall I think.  @SharkyOB you had really good pace in that first race but I'd eeked out enough of a lead to keep calm so managed to hold it together.

Next week is the Porsche @ Nurburgring.  Server is configured for practice! :)

That was great. Sorry @Meers goddamn I tried so hard to avoid you in race 1 but messed it up. That whole race went to shit for me a bit, didn't deal well with the crowd or the tyres at all.

Race 2 another story entirely since I got out clear of the field early on (was expecting you to go for that corner at the end of Kemmel @davejm, left the apex and everything) and somehow held onto it for ages, getting my fastest ever lap in the process. I actually sorted that out by observing Dave catch me up frighteningly quickly through some corners in my rearview so I copied his line after that

Anyway, never seemed to get fully clear, then I started to think I'd actually got a defendable gap in the last five minutes, then I sodding fishtailed out of the first Stavelot corner and lost the place after all. Can't complain with the end result being better than expected but felt like I'd done the hard part and blown it.

Really happy to be back racing and the GT4 fun is a nice change. Porkers at Nurbz next then!

That was some good fun tonight even though I made mistakes in both races and took others out, so apologies to @milkofor the awful rejoin at the bus stop chicane on lap 1 in race 1 and also to @Meers for the contact in race 2, coincidently also lap 1. I had some really good pace in the car so disappointed that I didn't switch my internet connection and I had to leave the server and rejoin and started from the back for the second race. It did mean race 2 I saw lots of action coming through to 3rd place so very pleased with that recovery.

"drive of the day" to @EuroVapeSim2 for coming through from last to third in race 2?

I would love to accept this but I think my lap 1 antics and getting lucky others had coming together gifted me a couple positions and made my job easier.

I really enjoyed the Camaros this evening.  I got some decent points on the board too!

Well played @davejm on taking both wins!

The first highlight video is basically just @winky and @Count Buffalos duking it out for lap after lap

I went for a different camera angle for the second video.  And I'm amused to see I was *just* able to catch my last lap incident with @winkyafter the race had finished.  Very gentlemanly of you to give me that place after you outbraked yourself...

Is this a new game called 'punt the Dutchy on the left hand side' or something? Every week as well. 🤨

No worries though, I'll get my revenge one day.😈

I was doing well at least, keeing up with the pace of the top 5 which is reassuring me of my pace. I was reeling in Alastrair and I would've gotten away with it if it weren't for these meddlin' kids!

This is 13 euro in the Black Friday sale on Xbox. Worth a punt for a huge GT and Forza fan ? Playing with a pad btw

Quite hard to say really. Some think it’s focus on GT3/4 racing is limited compared with Forza and GT, whereas others prefer the focus. As a racing game fan in general, I’d say yes its worth a punt at that price.

But that said, I’ve not tried it with a pad but I know at least of us PC racers plays with a pad.

If you want a very good simulation of a specific type of racing, it’s great. If you want to jump between different car classes, across millions of tracks - not so much.

(I’m assuming that there are no performance issues etc with the Xbox version)

@Meers FSR might work well for you.  I know you've tried moving between 1080p and 1440p, but you might be able to use this to render the game at 1080p and use the FSR upscaling to 1440p.

EDIT: quality FSR mode at 1440p output resolution actually renders at 1706x960 so should perform better than what you're seeing now and look nicer than 1080p.

What a great tip, Dave, thank you! I was aware of Fidelity X (through AC's content manager) but had no idea that FSR was compatible with Nvidia cards (because it says AMD) so I just looked it up and found that...

Quote

First, AMD FSR is GPU-agnostic, allowing it to work with GPUs from brands other than AMD. DLSS, meanwhile, only works with Nvidia GPUs. FSR is also an open-source technology and doesn’t require specialized graphics hardware.  AMD believes this "will accelerate the adoption of FSR into many more games for more gamers than other upscaling solutions." DLSS, meanwhile, requires the Nvidia RTX cards’ Tensor cores.

So glad there's an alternative to DLSS. I'm going to delve into it further. The more overhead, the better.

Bit of a contrast to the post above, but my grandmother passed away yesterday at 91 years of age. Last grandparent I had as well, makes you think about things for sure. But she's had a good life and reached a good age in fairly good health (especially mentally, definitely a good thing). She saw our children being born and attended our wedding last August, amongst a lot of other nice things.

To get my mind off it a bit, I tried to set a time for Thursdays' race last night. But seeing that her funeral is this Friday, I'm not sure if I can race on Thursday, I'll have to see. I'll remove myself from the list if so.
