I'm gonna go for the 6.15pm sprint one.

Confusing season as they seem to keep changing licence definitions and requirements. So far for week 1 I had to go Sprint (after it briefly saying that I had to go Rookie when I'd checked earlier), week 2 things changed and I had to go Rookie and it looked like that would be the case for at least 5 races, now I look and my status is up to 'IRON' already/again and I am back in sprint. Server #11852 anyway. I expect a first lap punt will take me out and I'll be back in the Rookie class before I know what's going on again.

Haha, nice one.  You gonna join Discord?  I can only join the rookie series so looks like we won't be able to race together but I'm signed up to the 6:16pm one.

ah shame we can't race, probably would've ended up in a different split anyway I suppose. I'll jump on discord in a bit, just logging out of work and into rig :)

Yeah I'm just finishing work so will be on shortly.  I've set up the practice server to match the conditions for my race :D

My Quest 2 is broken.  The black bar just above the lenses which the strap feeds through, has snapped off.  Just did a LFM race and the only way I could use it was to tighten up the rest of the strap significantly; but the pressure on my face was quite extreme.  I've got a headache now, from a 20 minute race :(

Have logged a support ticket with Oculus, so we'll see what happens.

Hopefully Oculus will sort you out sharpish.

...but if they dont there are a few solutions you can try.  Such as replacement front mounts e.g https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/814729613/oculus-quest-1-and-quest-2-faceplate?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=Faceplate+head+strap+mount+oculus&ref=sr_gallery-1-1&organic_search_click=1&frs=1&col=1&variation0=1394895728&variation1=1864607903

Or a more professional "halo" style strap replacement: https://www.amazon.co.uk/BOBOVR-Replacement-Accessories-Adjustable-Pressure-M2-Strap/dp/B094J91ST9/ref=pd_sbs_1/262-8912861-5212424?pd_rd_w=TNNO0&pf_rd_p=e0d2ff13-9dd4-4da7-83fa-1b78154f9d73&pf_rd_r=N6W1HMT4JJZ2GJ2YWG97&pd_rd_r=42f0509f-ee06-41da-9807-96e21aa9030e&pd_rd_wg=LAnz6&pd_rd_i=B094J91ST9&psc=1

I'm not recommending either of those specific products - just showing possible routes you could investigate

Thanks mate.  They've acknowledged the ticket and that the issue needs fixing, and I've provided more supporting information.  So we'll see.

I am considering a new strap anyway, so I'll take a look.  The elite strap is a massive improvement over the bundled cloth strap, but I don't need the extra battery pack when playing PC VR.  So I'll check out my options as I do seem to be constantly fiddling with how it sits on my face.

They want me to sent my headset back for a replacement.  So gonna be in pancake/waffle mode for a while it seems! 😬

Ah that's really annoying, must be a jarring experience to switch back to pancake mode.

I just jumped on the practice server for a couple laps to get reacquainted with Spa, I have never really been fully comfortable with this circuit, my lines are all over the place and just can't put in consitent laps. I'm fully recovered now and off work next week so should have a good bit of time to put in practice during the week and maybe try my hand at a couple LFM races as well.

My best time today was a 2.21.23 and I lost 4 tenths in the last chicane on that lap so a sub 2.21 is possible with my current pace, it's just a matter of doing that on track. I'm sure it won't be a difficult time to beat for others, let's see if practice can bring down my times as well and sure it will all probably go out the window on Thursday, the forcast is predicting a 70% chance of snow.

I love how the waffle thing has taken off.

Speaking of foodstuffs...I've eaten something at work yesterday that was off apparently (they brought some snacks in). Felt really sick shortly after and went home. When I got home I barfed (and more) my intestines out which continued all evening/night. Slept throughout the day today. Feeling much better now but I'm sore and tired as hell.

My son was a doctor today and keen "to make daddy better" so I'm in good hands. He's been doing a great job so far. 🥰

I can't keep it on the track in waffle mode 😔 I did a shit load of laps around Spa, and 99% of them were invalid.  I can't do Eau Rouge at all, so I'm fucked and off wide at Raidillon every time.  I could nail this in VR 😬

2’18, nice! I think I’ve made a fast setup but it’s reminding me of my days driving the Honda, it’s probably too easy to let the rear of the car go, at least for my skills. Could get my time plenty lower if I hold it together but more likely to fail to make race distance instead.

I still can't get in valid laps in pancake mode :(  Did a whole heap of laps last night, and not one of them valid.  I can't do Eau Rouge, and there are a couple of other places where I keep going out of track limits.  So on any given lap I mess up at one of the places.  I have no consistency, and I don't enjoy driving when not in VR.  So I might skip this week :(

@davejm I can imagine that transition to be very difficult especially since VR is far more natural for our brain to process.

My tip for Eau Rouge in pancake mode (can't do VR due to slight motion sickness) is that you have to look ahead in the corner to nail it. So once I turn in left for the first part of the corner, I am already looking at the spot on the right hand side curb that I want to get close to on the right hand turn. This gets me on a good line for the exit almost all the time. Hope this maybe helps a bit

I'm having the exact same frustrations with track limits at least, just did 30 laps and only 4 were valid, if it's not understeering wide at raidillion it's the understeer at 2nd stavelot, both places were you loose huge amounts of time if you lift even a little. Tried a few setup changes but I can't notice any difference in the car, I'm just getting annoyed practicing at the moment, hoping come race day it comes together a bit better otherwise I'll easily end up with a drive through each sprint race.

I had a slightly more fruitful practice last night.   I'll definitely race (gosh, I was grumpy the other night)!!   Luckily, from what I remember of racing at Spa before the off-tracks are unlikely to give you official warnings as in most cases you lose time when you understeer; as long as you get a good lap in early on you should be OK.

Yeah, plus when I'm trying to practice I rely on the delta to see how I'm doing; and when I can't get in a reference lap at all it's very frustrating! :D  Plus, with the long Spa laps it's demoralising when you invalidate on Raidillon.

2'19 is tantalisingly in reach for me now but @texlex45 I have no clue how you get so fast through sector 2!

Haha thanks Milko, tbh I was a bit surprised myself at the time because my previous bests with the Audi on patch 1.8 were hovering around 2:20s and high 2:19s. So likely a combo of Mclaren being slightly overpowered and a good setup for that sector.

With the BMW and Mclaren nerf, will be interesting to see how the times are affected come Thursday

Holy crap, those times are insane. I didn't have much opportunity to practice yet but during my short stint last night that time's all I got. Not time in the coming days either as Mrs Meers has a new job and she's using the laptop for it a lot (also on some evenings).

Good news is that it may have opened a door for a new desktop pc for yours truly. :eyebrows:

Edit: Feeling a lot better again since yesterday afternoon thankfully. Been a while since I had the screaming shits.
