This is a good reminder of how we've all improved. My old tactic of holding station and waiting for inevitable incident ahead just doesn't work any more as you guys are far more consistent. (Spoiler - Imma still gonna do that!)

Joining those endurance races really helped with my concentration and consistency. 😉

Clearly my increase in pace is due to all the expensive sim-hardware Ive bought since then.  I must buy more 😉

Hah, I'm absolutely sure it helps with consistency. A solid rig makes a world of difference.

A bit late, thanks for hosting the server Dave, I had a blast this season.

I need to find the other second, I suspect i'm at the limit of me and the car with my times, I'm only messing with the tyres and a little wing. I need to spend some time on setup changes to try and eek out a little more time and get the balance sorted. hitting a 2:01 was quite a leap for me in the last race as i was struggling to get a consistant 2:03 at times during practice.

although languishing at the rear i'm prety happy with my first season at this as it has beem a bit of game and track discovery.

I've an early flight on Friday so will miss this weeks run out.

have fun.

a full youtube trailer for some new paintjobs? I can't get excited about these things, we do our own colours anyhow after all.

Did you guys plan a race for tonight? I copped covid over the weekend that I'm just getting over so not sure how much I feel like gaming, but maybe.

I'm not around for racing. Got the key to the new house today so I'll be packin' stuff.

Anyone watch Top Gear this evening?

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m001fhy8/top-gear-series-33-episode-4

I was amused to see they took a few "off the street" people (with admittedly a bit of karting experience, or similar) and set them on a path to compete in some proper GT racing.

As part of their story, they took a trip to the McLaren centre and met Lando who sat two of them down in their (cheap! Logitech!!) simulators.  They fired up ACC to practice on.  They all ran the McLaren 570S GT4 around Donington, and I was interested to see what their times were...

Lando did a 1.38.520, and the two newbies did a 1.43 and 1.44 respectively.

I just checked - my fastest time round Dony in a 570S is 1.38.6   I could have almost have kept up with Norris!  And most of you boys would have kicked his butt!

Very interesting, I thought...

I don't normally watch it but might check that out, cheers!

Anybody racing this week? I was thinking I might try and join the TSR boys for the Glen on Tuesday night. Maybe even try some LFM again.

Not this week, but I'm thinking of getting the new season going again next week.

Is there much appetite for racing over the Christmas period?  I can't recall if we normally race or take some time off.

Considering the drop off in numbers if might be worth just keeping things going; otherwise we might just lose everyone.

I've been thinking a little bit about that too. Not sure if another under-attended season would help or hinder us, but with xmas events (and house moves for Meers, and so on) we'd almost definitely have some small races in there. But as you say, losing all momentum before some grand restart in January might also flop. Not sure what to suggest really. Maybe a novelty series with M2/Cup/Trofeo/GT4-single-make races? Or would that just make it harder to get people in.

I reckon it's best to have a little hiatus over the holiday season. I think there might be some sim-racing fatigue involved with (former) racers as well.

I think starting afresh in Januari will improve things. Have another roll-call to spark awareness, make it a longer season and try to get as many people (old and new) on board. Maybe throw in a prize for the winner*!

RCI will not organise a World Tour or Endurance World Championship in the first half of 2023, so maybe we can persuade some of the racers there to join us?

* Not sure what, but suggestions are welcome 😅

HELLO!

I'm now with PC and getting myself up to speed in this game. Would love to join for some racing things in the new year. 8-)

WHOA! 😲 It's Mexos! Now we only need to convince @kiroquai, @myoozikk, @Moodmon, @Thor (to name but a few) to do the same and we have the old F1 crew back (again)! but then in a much beter game. :eyebrows: 😜

In other news, we've moved house this weekend but there's still a lot of stuff to be moved from the old house to the new one. Especially from out of the loft. Never realised we had so much stuff. 😓

But it will still takes a few weeks until I can set my sim rig up again. Not until the new year I reckon.

hooray! As far as getting up to speed with ACC goes, it might be worth (if @davejm sets up a practice server between now and then) jumping on discord with some of us to do a few laps somewhere. So much of the game is not exactly intuitive, it can save some time and frustration.

Awesome!  I'm hoping in the New Year we can get things going again and have decent numbers :)

Good idea.  The practice server is being used for AMS2 at the moment, but it's pointless really as I can't get the results of that to show.

I'm actually missing ACC.  I've had a play around in AMS2 and WRC Generations, but my thoughts keep drifting back to the feel of the GT3s in this sim.
