Familiarised myself with the track and the practice server last night. Are you limited to use it only for the 60 mins it shows?

Also, I’m assuming the conditions in practice aren’t what we get in the race, where it will be random right?

The sessions run for 60 minutes, but it just resets after so you can carry on 👍

Base conditions for the first race will be mostly the same (2pm start, and same base temperatures) although the randomness slider will be turned up a bit so there might be a temp swing either way, and more or less cloud.  Chance of rain too.  The second race will start at 9pm (in-game time) so should be a lot cooler.

Can anyone remind me of the rule of thumb re: tyre pressure adjustments and temperature changes?

I aim for 27.8 psi for GT3.  For temp changes, it's 0.1 PSI (one click) higher/lower for each degree of ambient change colder/warmer respectively.

The rule works for the most part, but you also might need a couple of clicks if the track temp is way hotter or cooler.  You can also open/close brake ducts if there are large temp swings.

It's sooo hard to stay within track limits at Misano.  You need to cut the insides to get good lap times, and it's also easy to understeer off wide if you don't get the weight transfer balance right (especially in the first sector).

Getting the power down through turn 6 without understeering across those big curbs on the exit can be so tricky, I've never been able to be consistent on that corner in previous races.

Braking into turn 9&10 catches me out as well, constantly have to remind myself not to turn in too early and end up understeering off while braking, so easy to loose positions there.

Change your mind about the Aston, @davejm?

T6 is definitely my main bugbear in this track but as you say, weight transfer stuff in the first sector and judging the cuts right makes a big difference. I hope I have chance to practice enough to find it all.

Yep 😄 doesn't feel fun to drive.  It's safer, so I'll likely be less consistent and bin it, but at the moment I'm enjoying the Audi again.

Crikey that's some lapping. I think I need about that volume just to shake off some of my xmas rust, I still feel a bit up and down getting over my damn flu though so I've only managed the one session.

I've pretty much finished setting everything back up over the weekend. Just a bit of cable management to do, and connecting a 2nd TV that I've had lying about, and I'm good to go again! 😅

Got a load of boxes to sieve through still before the entire loft is cleared and ready for some new flooring, so the rig still sits on the old carpet that came with the house. 😓

So I tried the VR hat yesterday (Q2), hence the appalling times and poor valid lap %.

But I keep getting an issue which makes it pretty unusable. It freezes for about 4 seconds at random intervals, but the game carries on , and inevitably this is not a good place to be come Thursday for anyone. I usually, as you can imagine, just feel the wheel shuddering as I collide into the nearest wall.

Before I lash out on a Usbc Card and new cable for my PC, has anyone come across this.

For reference. I set the external screen res to 1280 as not required, for the headset I have tried VR Epic, high and low.

Spec of pc. 9th Gen I5, 3070 TI, 32GB RAM, game running on NVME.

App launched using Steam VR (vs Oculus VR).

Quest 2 connected using an decent ANKER usb a >c cable.

All help gratefully received.

You should use Oculus for the app launch.

In the Oculus desktop app, if you click into the Devices menu do you see anything that looks wrong? I think it tells you if it is working at a good speed.

Graphics cards drivers up to date?  Any other updates which might need doing (windows etc)?

I'm hoping to race on Thurs, not 100% at the moment though.

I'm a bit obsessive with updates, so I think I'm up to date. Might need to check Geoforce however. Thanks

Yeah, under the devices bit there's a USB Test which will tell you the speed it's connecting at. It quite often fails the first time so ignore that and test again :) My usually comes out at around 1.6 to 2.4Gb/s. I added a separate PCI card with whizzy USB ports to my PC but it made no difference to the speed or graphic quality so I just use the mobo USB-C one.

Definitely use Oculus VR rather than SteamVR which adds some overhead to the processing pipeline.

I very occasionally get the same stutters you describe @mrben09 but now where near as bad, and I'm on a lowly Ryzen7 / 5700XT / 16Gb combo, so it smells like a software thing rather than hardware to me.

My g25 pedals are having issues mainly the accelerator flickering between 80-100% when flatout and when braking it flickers and potentially stays at 50%. Any suggestions to fix it before the race? Gonna be hard to race with them in there current state.

I think you need to clean the potentiometers. Here's a guide.

Nah I reckon leave things as they are ;) :D

Seriously though, no idea really aside from checking drivers etc are up to date.

i mean i can do a consistent 1.34 with them so i maybe i might, just for this one. 😄

Got a chocka week, so I don't think I'm gonna find time to do more than my 6 lap practice with the Audi (I did a few laps single player with the Aston too, a while back).

So coming in VERY rough with no practice in the true spirit of rllmuk Racing :D

Cracking turn out on the practice server so far guys.  I'm really pleased that people are still around and that we're also still attracting new players to the roster.  Fab!!

It is promising but I’m right in the middle of my “fuck this track” phase that I have to go through almost every time, so I’m getting grumpy! Lap after lap of not improving in any noticeable way, grrr.

Meh, practice is practice so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Knowing your track record (pun intended), you'll do just fine in the race. 😘
