We need a spotters guide! I'd be happy to make one if everyone could take some screen caps of their colour schemes. Say a 3/4 front and 3/4 rear shot from the selection screen?

We have loads of shots like that waaaaaaay back in this thread as we were doing them. I'll have a look...

Good!

In other news, we may get a new participant from the Prime Motorsport gang (the endurance racing crew Erik, Oli, Cillian and I are part of). It's Nicolas, and I think you've seen me mention him before. Hugo, from the same team, has raced us before too. I'll try to get him to join again as well. 😆

Also, my South African colleague (immigrated to the Netherlands recently) has bought ACC as well (I didn't pressure him at all, honestly!) and is currently training to join us in the near future. Still on a controller, but he's working on getting a wheel. He used to play Dirt Rally a lot.

Excellent news. I'm also currently grooming (such the wrong word!) my best mate who's just bought his first gaming PC just for sim racing. Well, drifting in AC, but for ACC too. Will be a few weeks at least before he's up for it, but soon.....

Looks like @SANtoOos did one many moons ago, which probably needs updating...

Reminder that we have more than 1 car and theres usually free driver spots for the once a month races for anyone wanting to try endurance racing. Next season will feature 6 hour races and we will probably go with 2 cars. Maybe even 3 if we get more people on board.

Is there a tool in the game to make them? I saw that people are making super custom ones in photoshop (i'd be well up for doing that) but presumably that means sharing the files with everyone and getting them to copy them to their ACC folder?

Yes there is a tool within the game. You can pick a pattern and then muck about with the colours.

And yes you can do custom ones and share the file but sometimes that affect lobby performance.

In game, when you go to select the livery, you can pick edit and then do some basic pattern and colour choices.   Those, once saved and selected, replicate to all other drivers on the server without anything needing doing.  That's what we've been doing bar a few rare exceptions (I think @SANtoOos had a custom Lexus for a bit?).

The real custom liveries are a pain.  You have to do them outside the game manually, then I *think* they need to be sent to everyone who joins, so they can add them.   It may also need to live on the server too.     If you dont send the custom livery out, it wont show up for anyone else and your car defaults to something basic on their view.

It's squirred away in the car selection screen. Where you choose the car and team there's a teeny tiny 'Add' button to create your own livery.

Ahhh, thanks! I completely missed that.

Yeah, I think we should avoid option 2 like the plague.  The only reason @SANtoOos used a custom livery was because the Lexus doesn't allow custom team creation due to licensing issues.  There's too many of us nowadays for it to be effective and I don't think it's reasonable to expect everyone to download and install the liveries.

The massive lag spike they cause when anyone with a full custom livery joins the server is another issue.

I think the in game editor is fine and you can get some decent results using it.

There was an update last year and the lag spike is now gone if you have downloaded livery prior and associated folder has been created in game files. In the enduro champ we have that done in the livery .zip where teams' liveries have been collected. But yeah its still a lot of work and not worth it outside of events like those.

@Valver is lime green and so on...

Hello!  Actually, finding this much funnier than I probably ought to, but new kid on the block, turns up in not only the only other bright green car, but also the only other Lamborghini on the grid.   I'd like to say, this is purely coincidental!

If others are happy, I'll stick with green, and attempt to out green @Valver in all cars (who is more green and black vs. my green and more green).

If we're too easy to confuse, I guess other, inferior colours are also available ;)

(i'm kidding, I like the idea of associating colours with drivers, especially as I struggle to remember names anyway)

Numbers are potentially less contentious as there are a lot more of them, I'd stuck 111 on my cars due to my Lotus type preference, but if I'd accidentally pinched someone else's number, just let me know and I'll find a different tenuous link :)

Great racing last night, was a bit apprehensive having only drive the track for about 2 hours total, and the BMW for 2x 25 minute practices, but managed to keep it pointing the right way, and largely not hitting others, and I think some robust but fair defending.  I actually really liked the M2, the slower pace meant it was a bit easier to adjust lines mid corner and try to dice with cars ahead, and also meant it was easier to react rather than get caught up on someone else's accident.  Still, as I said the other day, it's only the 2nd car I've driven in the game!

Don't let that put you off! :)

Actually, the worst car is BY FAR the KTM X-Bow GT4.

I just didn't like that I was a bit shit, really, can't blame the car. Apart from the engine noise! I found the whole night entertaining but I managed to spin @mrben09 when he went a lot slower through the Alta chicane than I was expecting as I followed, caused @davadvice1 to spin when I caught up a lot more than I was expecting in Villeneuve, somewhat gently t-boned @Valver when I misjudged my braking point as 3rd of a group into the Tosa hairpin... to say nothing of a few small damageless off-track excursions here and there. I've been better, that's for sure. Being able to race so close was great, we do miss that a bit in GT3.

Battling for the lead will always be fun, pootling about on your own at the back will always suck. Everything else is a sliding scale between the two based on performance against your own best, and battles with others. IMHO

Why do you think that is? I'm curious. Was it because everyone was in the same car? Or just down the characteristics of the car?

A bit that we're all in the same car, and that none of us have spent much time in it before. I'm sure the characteristics helped too, lower speeds and all that. Just guessing, mind you! We do often have some good close GT3 as well of course, but last night seemed like lap after lap in some good bunches.

Happy to finally be able to get the LFM license. That was an adventure!

Definitely feeling the positive effects after getting the new rig recently, have knocked down my time a second or two all over (not impressive as my times were pretty bad but still - self improvement rocks), and the last couple of days I’ve been hammering Hungaroring to make it. So stressed out trying to get seven laps in on the server with other faster people there but finally nailed it. Feels good, now I’m going to get rid of my fear (have to be honest, I find online racing intimidating with all the toxicity going around but I know I need to do it to improve my driving…and to satisfy my competitive mind). So satisfying to nail it after failing on lap 5 and 6 on a few occasions…I was TENSE haha.

This is not impressive to most of you because you’re way quicker than me, but this is a huge personal win for me and a big step forward. I got my first gaming pc in 2016, and have only played ACC a couple of years (just over 430 hours but a LOT is getting used to sim racing and driving games) so I’m really happy.

This was possibly because of people like YOU and PowerQ (as I got to know you through his community league), you showed me that there are friendly and good people out there that are worth hanging out with and learn from. Knowing that I’ll be better equipped to ignore crap and toxicity from small-peckered mom’s boys if I happen to touch them or don’t move over in a race.

Youre the best!

Awww!

I somehow got the LFM licence first try when I did it, but I found racing there pretty stressful, hard to avoid contact. Keep meaning to go back but practicing for our weekly races takes enough time already. I think they have more split series these days, will be curious to know how you get on.
