Awww!

I somehow got the LFM licence first try when I did it, but I found racing there pretty stressful, hard to avoid contact. Keep meaning to go back but practicing for our weekly races takes enough time already. I think they have more split series these days, will be curious to know how you get on.

Im going to give it a try. Open lobbies are just chaos, and I like the iRacing-type of system they have going. If I feel I get a groove going I might jump back in there to use that for open seaters and other fun stuff. Find it much easier to find energy and time to drive now when I have a fixed setup and don’t have to rig up or down anymore….OR worry about sliding chairs, things falling down etc

I don’t get the hate for the M2. It’s very forgiving and we can jump in and drive it with no practice. Admittedly we had a nice field size but it gave some great racing.

The events we do that are not GT3 are always more fun for me. Either everyone is slower or I just can cope with the slower cars easier. Imola was a good track choice due to it being shorter for the slower car.

Good fun, thanks for setting up @milko!

M2s in Brands, as was mentioned late on, would have been a good one as well. Maybe GT4s there soon? I think Oulton Park's another where slow little cars go well.

Finally managed to beat the ai at 100%, 25 min race, starting 10th. They are pretty feisty! If you don’t close the door properly during a move they’ll be up the inside like a rat up a drainpipe. It’s lovely to have decent opposition if you just want to have a quick race. In GT the ai is utterly useless. It will be a long, long road but I’m going to try and do the same on all the other tracks as training here and there. There are some tracks that I have little to no experience on so I have to put in the laps.

The AI in this game always have the flaw that they don't take aggressive racing lines (eg over kerbs) but they can be a good laugh all the same. Are you on 100% aggression setting for them too? I dialled that down a little but they still can be a bit psycho over Bathurst. I've never spent all that much time with it on single player.

Give me a few weeks and I’ll hopefully be joining in and asking a million dumb questions.

Single screen ( cheapish 4k tv) set up with a £6-800 ish budget for a pc  do-able for a decent frame rate and graphics? Any advice appreciated.

Wow, awesome!

I'm using a 4k tv too and it's really good! I've built my PC for about €1000.

I started with @davejm's GTX1070, but recently upgraded to a RTX2080 super. Together with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and 16Gb RAM I can run ACC on mostly max/epic settings (apart from shadows and effects, which are set to high) thanks to DLSS.

Got it running at ~85 fps which is capped to 60 fps because I have to use v-synch due to screen tearing. Solid as a rock.

you showed me that there are friendly and good people out there that are worth hanging out with and learn from. Knowing that I’ll be better equipped to ignore crap and toxicity from small-peckered mom’s boys if I happen to touch them or don’t move over in a race.

Youre the best!

All the leagues I've been in on rllmuk throughout the years have been super friendly, relaxed and with a great sense of camaraderie whilst also being very competitive at the same time. But we've never had a falling out as far as I remember. A great community indeed.

Yeah 100% on both. Since I need to learn about racing in this game (not just trying to go fast over a lap) I find it's useful for getting used to the size of the car, how it is to be in the pack. That sort of thing.

I think my link cable's died, I keep getting disconnected after no more than 30 seconds. Bah! Airlink works terribly for me, despite being a couple of feet from an Orbi satellite that the PC is hardwired into. Oh well, another one is in the post, it's just my practice time suffering. And I hope I'm right about what the problem is...

And it seems to work again! Also, on closer inspection, there are various bite marks in the old cable that mean I am going to have to blame my goddamn cat copilot for this, and start hiding it from her.

PS2 Keyboards, VGA screen, Parallel Printers.........mmmmmmmmm, when real men used to get electrocuted on the reg, taking off the case and delving in.  Anti static gear a must.

Sorry chaps, but here's another recruitment post for the upcoming 6h endurance championship we're going to partake in over at Prime Motorsport. 😘

The above times are in UTC.

We're still looking for more drivers who are willing and able to join us in the Porsche. At least one hour (1 stint) would be required, more will be very much appreciated. You will at least have a one-hour break before a potential 2nd stint, so there's time to relax. And Erik and I will be your teammates. And it will be lots of fun! 😅

I’d deffo be up for getting involved once I’m a bit more up to speed with the game - cars, tracks etc. I tried the Porsche a few times and… well let’s just say it didn’t end well for the Porsche!

We havent picked cars yet, they will depend on who is driving. Of course ideally everyone should be in a car theyre comfortable with. When it comes to just laptimes I think most rllmuk drivers would do okay in our enduros

Pretty sure I can't do Kyalami, had a look at the calendar and I'm the sole parent that weekend. I suppose I could set him playing Switch while i do my shifts...

Race day!

After all that practicing you've been up to @mexos , don't forget to register on simracing.gp! Also @mrben09 @OJM CHICKEN @winky and how's the shoulder doing, @davadvice1are you up for a sprint or two?

After a lot of laps I'm getting faster and in my usual loop of "try too hard/overdrive it/get slower". Can't complain about my progress, but I want to. Best sectors would see me on about 1.45.0 I reckon, it feels like as soon as I get the hang of one for a bit, at least one other goes to shit.

Wow, is it Thursday already?  Where has my week gone!  Not on pre-racing practice that's for sure - I've recorded a measly 2 valid laps.  Oh dear.

Oh well, in true rllmuk tradition I shall be coming in very rough with no practice!

@mrben09 - did you manage to fix your Quest head strap tightening thingy?

Yeah same. I only had Monday night and last night. Monday was for rllmuk, last night was for RCI. Switching between Beemer and Poker, yay!
