Maybe sim racing isn't for you, if your life is so full of collisions :)

(Shame you can't make it though!)

Haha that’s a pun after my tastes! 😂

Sim racing is defo something for me tbh, I get to scratch that competitive itch, I get to challenge and improve myself plus it’s heaps of fun. But I totally get it if you guys get tired of me not being able to join races.

It’s not my intention to be unreliable but there’s a lot going on here at times.

that would only be a problem if we were doing teams or co-drivers, surely. Carry on!

New car day.  Gonna try a few laps with different cars and try something else for the second half of the season.

That's a good idea actually.

Wow Zandvoort makes no sense to my brain at all. 15 laps and I crashed 13 out of 15.

Yeah that's why it's my least favourite track in this game. Overrated too, Assen is the much better Dutch circuit. Would love it if they would bring the GT series here.

assen is a bit to tight for gt racing i think, it serves great for bike racing but i dont think gt would do well... then again they do race at macau and thats even tighter

Fixed my damn cable problems at last, I think actually via tweaking my Oculus Debug Tool settings more than the hardware. Immediately went faster than I was doing in the jittery slideshow beforehand, that was nice. Throwing away about 0.5s in not stringing my sectors together still, but it's such a relief to just be able to drive properly, I hadn't realised quite how bad it was killing me last two weeks.

I think I might have set the encode bitrate too high? Backed it down to 300 now, further experimentation if I can be bothered later. But I also checked off all these settings for it, I had a slightly different encode resolution width and maybe one or two other things were auto and shouldn't be.

I'm not bothering with the VR Performance Kit thing mentioned further down - that did work for me but didn't seem to really be adding anything to my experience - other combinations of CPU, graphics card and vr hat may vary! (5800X3D, 3080 and Quest 1 here)

Ah don't worry about that. Nobody's going to beat your time. 😅

Your mate Steffen seems to be getting the hang of things! Is he going to join us?

Yeah, I showed him the ropes last night around Zandvoort. He's making good progress, I just needed to do a 'track walk' with him and show him the gears for each corner, and he did the rest himself. He's still sat at his dinner table - the CSR wheel is hard mounted onto a wooden plate (sans dinner on it) which in turn is fixed to said table with glue clamps. 😆

The CSR Elite pedals are 'loose' on the floor, and the only thing that keeps them from sliding are the rubber pads under the base. If he's braking hard it still slides a bit, which prevents him from getting faster lap times. He's looking at rigs as I type this.

As for him joining us - he said "soon". He doesn't feel he's ready yet and is concerned he may be too much of an obstacle.

Ha, there's at least three people who probably could if they take it personally enough :)

This track is pretty solid concentration wise.

Done a single player 30min race and got dq'd for no pit but it did honest. I did think crew chief was losing it when he kept going on.

Yeah, a very brief moment to relax on the home straight is about it. Did you have any fuel/tyre requirements missed on the pit?

That may be it is started heavy with fuel so never added any. Cheers

This is getting silly now. I'm still in the 1.37's so I'm blaming it on the track not suiting the Aston, and my being distracted by setting up the new PC.

And, can we ensure that any new guys are not too fast please.

Good excuse. I blame the laundry brushing my neck whilst racing.

I've already fed stroopwafels to Steffen to make him heavier.
