Is everyone BUT ME switching to VR or what?!

😅

I stopped using VR. I couldn’t be bothered with the faff and more cables lying around my home office. Also can’t smoke or drink or type with the stupid headset on. Had a few usb 3 issues that made it even more tedious.

I miss the immersion but at least I have a high resolution image to look at compared to the muddy view through the occulus.

edit: here is a nice picture of my clean home setup (racing seat not shown)

This is exactly my feeling with the VR, maybe newer models don't have such an issue but being able to clearly see pixels is annoying.

Really happy I got this Vive on a loan to try out though, I've been playing a bunch of different games with it alongside a bit of ACC.

Please tell me you are smashing in laps with a casual marlboro hanging out of your mouth.

Once I get a graphics card I'm moving across. Feburary 2027 cannot come quick enough, or my Quest 5.

I find it really throws me off my braking and turn in points, is this something you just have to get used to in VR? I was averaging a mid 2.02 and best time was a 2.01 flat.

I've actually only ever played this in VR but Santos was saying it took him a while to get used to it in terms of pace.

I can't really get my setup anywhere near a monitor so I can't really compare it usefully, possibly for the best.

Exactly!

Those pesky bats!

I had 8 laps of practice today, couldn't stay on track in a single one so might have overcooked it yesterday. 60 odd laps. 😮 Rage quit and considering either changing things up with an AI race or just do something else 😛

Edit: That didn't go too well. Did two races, one evening and one night. But good to have done a few laps with a full grid.

A question for when it's dark - do you guys use the high beam or the low beam? I noticed that the high beam was very bright so it gave me pretty good visibility compared to the low beam, butI'm undcertain how much that would disturb the car in front?

Didn't even know there were two beam options :) I just leave lights and wipers on auto. I have enough trouble with the go/stop left/right controls without introducing others!

No rear-view mirror on the KTM, you can shine whatever light you like! On which note, traffic and defending will be interesting this week. I forgot Crew Chief last time and got away with it but will hopefully not tomorrow.

I tend to use the endurance lights.

Same here. Because I've got more buttons at my disposal, I have everything on manual now, even the clutch (which is hardly used, just for driving out of the pits and preventing the engine from stalling after a spin).

Spoiler

Plus the rain light 😛

I've fiddled with my setup again, reduced the preload diff one tick which promotes turn-in, and narrowed the brake ducts to 1 rear and 2 front which makes the tyres heat up much better. Improved my time with that tweak.

Interesting @Meers,  was still struggling with tyre temps last night so might close the ducts a bit more too; especially as it will be cooler for the races.

Aha, good to know. But I think closing the rear duct is a bit too much to ask of the brakes. Raising pressures then.

I'm part of the 1:59 club now, but still closing the gate I see. I can gain a couple of tenths, but was too tired to be consistent later last night.

I'm going on consistency, no mistakes and hopefully no contact tonight.

Sorry, I meant just narrowing them as you said... not closing them entirely.  I'm running 2 & 3 at the moment.

I gathered that, mate.😅

I was pondering if I should close them at the rear entirely myself, if the race tonight is in cooler conditions. 😄

How much cooler are we talking?

The 8pm race was 16 degrees when I set up a single player session (with the same conditions as the race).  I didn't do the same for the 11pm race so not sure on that, but I tend to find one click higher for each degree ambient seems to work OK anyway.

Have fun tonight guys. So glad I am missing this one as I just cannot get on with the car.

Someone remember to save and upload highlights if @Valver is not about!

I was away for a bit and when I got back everyone was gone, your message was still in the chat window so I gathered you were not feeling it which is a shame. Are you not joining regardless or is it because of the KTM? I'm sure one of us could hook you up with a setup if need be.

I could do the highlights, but that would mean torturing everyone with low detail graphics.

Which are the endurance lights? First or second light mode?

Second one.

I've got the lights on one button - the stages set as a long presses, flashing is a tap and rain light is with the shift function.

I'm anticipating racing tonight so should be about for highlight duties.

Unfortunately I had to have our dog put to sleep yesterday, so I'm a bit wobbly emotionally.   But I think I can still spot my braking points through misty eyes... 🥲
