However, I'm having real trouble getting the game to run well, even on low settings with V-Sync on I'm getting frame skip. It's fine for career etc but I'm worried that when I feel competent enough I'm going to cause a pile up because the game has randomly thrown a curve ball at me. I've checked Can You Run It and its my CPU thats probably the issue, though my GPU is old too (I've only got a GTX 970 and a Ryzen 3, though I cant complain too much, it was free and this is the first game I'm having any trouble with). Quite often Can You Run It tells me a game Wont Run on my system and basically every time I've got it to run without sacrificing too much or anything at all.

Like I say, its playable, just not as smooth as I'd like

Oh, don't think for a moment im giving up. Like I said it reminds me of TOCA which I loved, that feeling that these are big weighty metal boxes being thrown around at 100-odd mph, which this has. It's very visceral.

That was a fun night, trying to wrestle those damn Camaros around. Startled to see I’m 3rd overall as well as the series finishes! Just need to try and do that in a ‘proper’ one now, right? Anyway, some really fun battles tonight, great stuff.

I loved the racing this evening!   I was involved in tussles and action all the way through each race, and as the highlights show, there was lots of action  everywhere.  All brilliant fun and looked super clean and respectful!  Go USA!

My first race at COTA was amazing.  While you lot all ballsed up your qualifying runs with track limits infractions I snuck up the front of the grid for the start, and then got a decent run into Turn 1, to pop out in 2nd place.   I then followed @milko for a bunch of laps before catching him up and cleanly passing him!  I was in first place! :omg::omg:

He fought back and we went two wide through a few corners in sector 3 -  it was nip and tuck. In doing so I think we slowed each other down and allowed the alien pairing of Mr R Ware and O Chicken to get in on the action - and suddenly I got mugged and had lost two places in one corner.  I couldn't hold onto 3rd either and ended up crossing the line in 4th, but still in that little lead pack.  VERY happy with that!

can I just shock you? I love COTA now. Nothing to do with blagging pole from the one-shot quali and nearly managing to hold onto it until the end. Honest.

That was awesome! P10, P4 and P4 respectively for me. Indy's quite alright now, and CotA is much better during races (track limit wise, but it's still a shit design). Gutted I hit @winky in the hairpin. 😓

The race on Watkins was epic where I was battling R. Ware (we know it was you, @Erik 😜), Oliver, @Ruud Mulders and @Yannik at the front. What happened when you crashed out, Yannick? Evasive manoeuvre?

Whilst they remain cunty©tm, I found them to be better during the race for some reason. Maybe they moved them wider for racing purposes, or *gasp* I've gotten more adept in racing on CotA.

Sorry Cillian for the 'love tap' at Indy, up until then it was some great close racing. In fact, despite my lowly finishing positions, there was some great racing all round. So nice to be able to go wheel to wheel with everyone and not get murdered.

I was having similar issues to @milko with the Camero just not slowing down, but on a seemingly random basis. Sometimes at the same braking point it just wouldn't fecking slow down.

In previous seasons I've had success with that car, even winning (I know!) but it feels different now and I'm pretty sure it's been messed with somehow. If I don't melt in the heat over the weekend, I'll try my race winning setup (from Snet I think) on the new tracks.

Yup. Can't remember who it was in front of me, but they braked super early into the toe of the boot, so I had to decide on whether to wreck both of our races by diving to the inside or just mine by going to the outside. Guess what I chose :D

All things considered, last night was seriously fun - even though I still hate COTA, lol. I now understand why people always say that GT4s are underrated. At least the Camaro was really cool!

Also had a great time streaming yesterday due to some people talking nonsense with me via chat. All in German though, so I don't think anyone here would have any use for the VOD 😄

it was only at Indy where I had this, but yeah, really odd and unsettling, definitely cost me a lot of time and probably a position or two. I wonder what was going on in the simulation.

as far as it being messed with goes, the DLC patch changed the tyre model again for GT4, and GT3 will get the same in the longer term after the various official esports championship seasons finish apparently. It gives a higher top speed but more understeer says Aris and I’m sure it’ll be related to our stopping trouble somehow. I got the understeer dialled to a point where I was happy enough, it was at least consistent, but the braking in Indy was driving me crazy.

Lads, I've got 2 weeks left before my holiday begins (back home in the last week of August). I believe @davejm said he's away for the next 2 weeks (correct me if I'm wrong).

Would you like to race next Thursday, and if so would you like me to set up an event (in Dave's absence)?

German is just another dialect to me. Das kannst du mich (mir?) schon hören lassen.😜 😉

I'd be happy to join! Maybe something vintage? I still remember the Bremgarten races in the 50s F1 Maseratis quite fondly :)

In AC you mean? Or old Spa in the same cars...for 1.5 hours? :eyebrows:

In that case... https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1531763011 :D (and "mich" is indeed correct in this case)

Yeah, that was AC. Spa would be even crazier I think, but finishing that would be a proper achievement, I think.

:hat: Mich/mir, dich/dir etc makes German tricky sometimes.

I think we should refrain from extreme and long stuff, the sprint races we did last night were a lot of fun too! 😅

I completely forgot to stream (for recording purposes) my race last night.

Yeah, I would hate having to learn it as a second language 😬 We should stream in German at some point, ja!

That's probably for the better, yeah. There's a historic championship brewing on RaceDepartment, so that might scratch that itch.

Sprints, you say? There's always the trusty Ford Transit ♥

I'm not around on the 28th, but other than that I'm up for pretty much anything.

That explains why I found it massively understeery then! Ruined the car for me to be honest.

I dunno, I guess I always found it understeery so slightly more of that didn't hugely register for me! I did tweak the aggressive preset for a bit more turn-in by raising rear ride height a notch and putting more negative toe.

Man, that would require me to take about 2cm of dust off of my spoken German - I'm very rusty. Still, might be a good excuse to get better at it ja!

Yeah I don't think I can make the 28th either due to holiday prep. I can hear the Supreme Commander already: "you want to do WHAT?! We need to pack, mister!"

@Meers Yep I'm away next week, and probably the following (I'll be home, but just back so probably won't race).

I've also likely be out the following week due to work.

I was thinking of a longer summer break than usual, perhaps a 18th or 25th August restart; as a few people said they have different weeks off during the time between.

I'm always reluctant to leave such a gap between seasons as the risk is that engagement drops, but if you guys can set up some ad-hoc events to keep up momentum that would be great.

By the way, I'd recommend that you stick to AC or ACC events in simracing.gp.  The AMS2 support is now flagged as 'Experimental' but from what I can read of the comments in the community owners Discord it basically just isn't working well at all.

Yeah I'm kind of stuck taking the first 3 weeks of August off due to our company being closed then (lots of companies close for the summer, especially in building/construction). So starting the new league at the end of August or beginning of September would mean that I can join from the start too. 🙂

A gap might be good. It can also prevent sim racing fatigue. And we can do a bit of recruiting / reminding people before we start to spark interest again. And even if we would need to pick a different day of the week to allow more people to join (again) is not something I would oppose.

Also, happy to make anyone else admin if folk have specific event ideas.

Good idea. It's Sharky, Valver and I next to you currently, right?
