Can I invite you all to sign up for 2.4 hours of Spa in GT3s on Thursday 1st September.  This will be a team event, starting at 19:00 BST / 20:00 CET.

 

Event Details

  • Practice: 1 hour (18:00 BST / 19:00 CET)
  • Race: 2.4 hours (19:00 BST / 20:00 CET)
  • x10 time progression (24 hour day/night cycle)
  • Teams of 2 drivers
  • Qualifying based on an average of the two driver qualifying times from the server in the week preceding
  • Drivers will do 2 x 36 minute stints each
  • Drivers will swap after each stint

Team Pairings

  • Forum regulars will be placed into a hat and teams will be drawn at random
  • The draw for team pairings will take place on Thursday 4th August on Discord (we'll have a fun Assetto Corsa event that evening)
  • Once teams are formed, decide among yourselves which car to race
  • Decide who will be the primary driver
    • The primary driver must register the team on SGP and pass the pin (which is provided on registration) to the second driver
    • The primary driver must be the one to join the server first, and do the first stint

  • Indicate on the form if you're available for the first stint.  I've aware that some people can't start at 7pm.  We'll factor that into the team pairings so those that can't start early will be paired with those that can

Engagement and Grid Size

I'm aware that a team event means we're halving the grid size.  So will be small even if we do get all the regulars onboard.  But it'll be cool to try a team event, and the short stint times and varying ability of the drivers will hopefully make it interesting.

 

If we don't get the overwhelming majority of regulars on board, we''ll bin off the idea at this early stage.  If we do, we'll open up the event to the rllmuk and TSR Discord; who can just register with their own team, which can hopefully increase the grid size further.  Let's see what happens!

Nice one mate, it'll be great to have you racing with us again.

 

Only 4 sign ups so far, so unless all the usual suspects sign up this weekend we're going to sack off the idea of the team event.  We'll still race, but we'll just do a standard solo race as usual which will act as a season warm-up.

As above, if we don't get a few more signups this weekend I'll scrap the event (might as well just free up people's evening, rather than race with 4 people on a long circuit).  If we do get a few more sign ups I'll configure the practice server later this weekend.

What are you racing?  I can't see from the link as I don't want to login to steam on my work laptop.

 

I can't attend, just curious/torturing myself.

apparently (not like I'm going to bother watching a video any time soon)...

 

2023 GT3 season (ie new tracks? They have ones we don't) with three new cars (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Porsche) and GT2 cars pack has been confirmed by Marco Massarutto at SRO Motorsports Annual Press Conference.

We've abandoned plans for the team race.  I think it was too optimistic to get everyone on board for it.  I've been called away for work that week too, so I'll plan the new season to start on Thursday 8th September.   We'll still create an event for the 1st, to act as a warm up for the new season.

Phew busy week. Started a new job and now I am off to Hungary for a week on Sunday.

And I've not touched my sim rig in 3 weeks!

 

Spent 2 weeks with my wife and kids in the dunes near Schoorl (Dutch west coast). Was lovely, got a nice tan and everything. Good times were had. 🙂

I think it might have been longer for me.  I'm home after a couple of holidays (Scotland & France), but haven't had the desire to get back in the rig as yet.

 

I'll be sorting out the new season schedule over the next few days.  There will be a warm-up race on the 8th, before the season starts the following week.

 

I hope enough people can be tempted back.  It's been quite a long break.

Season 11 Announcement!

We're back baby! :D  Starting 8th September we'll kick things off for a pre-season warm up @ Imola; then straight into an 8 round Intercontinental Challenge featuring a mix of the US and British tracks.

  • Full warm-up lap
  • Best 6 results count towards standings
