Of course. You know the rules, pix or it didn't happen.

😅 Alright then.

Spoiler

Still in the process to get the mortgage sorted out, so still fingers crossed at this point.

How many GT3 cars can I park in the driveway?

Cheers @Meers.  I haven't decided on car for the new season yet, hence why I haven't signed up to the league races.  Will see how the warm-up goes in the Audi.

I think I'll go for the Ferrari Evo still. Just loving that thing!

Here's the new BoP, allegedly: https://pastebin.com/iJUwWvbs

I'm not sure what to do either. Before my holiday (and also before the recent BoP update) I was messing with a few cars and not coming to many conclusions. I tried the M4 and probably went fastest of what I tested (it more or less ignores kerbs?! You can just point it through Raidillon with ease?! It's like a cheat mode at times compared to what I'm used to) but it felt quite uninvolving to drive, quiet, dareIsay...dull. Which is probably what I need to improve my races-without-accident record but I like feeling on the edge. Maybe the new gear ratios make it feel feistier but I doubt it. I was gonna do Aston (hence trying it in our COTA race) but apparently that's been buffed so now I'd feel like I'm just following the new meta, probably, and I don't know if I like it but maybe I'd learn to. The Ferrari seems fun and makes excellent noises but is also maybe too much on the edge for me... then again I hear they fixed a bug on the bumpstops so maybe that would help. Or I could stick with Lambo or go back to Macca, both of which I've done well in, but I like to change things up.

Might go Porsche. I don't really have enough spare time or knowledge to be tweaking setups to get the most from it, but it's definitely fun.

I don't actually think the BoP stuff matters much at our level but it is fun to take the piss out of anybody who find themselves in the latest overpowered cheat car :)

I feel like I've forgotten how to drive over the summer. I'm hitting about 1.44.9 in a few cars around Imola, including the McLaren, apparently I was good for 1.42.9 before in that! Unless that was pre-1.8, is there any way to tell?

Anyway, gonna try the Porsche I think. I was a tiny bit faster in the Ferrari but less confident about it going where I point it.

I've done a few laps with a few different cars and I'm quite happy with the Aston. If know I can find more time not much but a little. Not knowing the track game or cars in pretty happy so far. Need to build my constancy now.

I ended up running at night during as session and trying to dial the tyres in was a nightmare track temp was 15 or so.

I've no experience running in a pack with this so I'll need to do a wee AI session, does the drag and wear etc all come in to play as if an online session?

Sometimes running in GT7 it's a totally different beast, so thought better to check.

Hey! Single player works similar to multiplayer(except you can disable damage). Remember to select "2022 open season" or whatever it was so you have all cars to choose from and have the same BoP(car engine powers and weights mostly) as in multiplayer.

That's a weird ACC-ism it sometimes pulls on the server, it did it to me yesterday as well. If you log out and back in you'll find yourself back in the regular conditions... but it's fun to try a night drive sometimes as well.

I've also remembered I'm never particularly good at Imola, although I do like the track. The once-every-100-seconds teeth-clenching horror that is the chicane kerbing does my head in too much.

Had a short session last night on the server to further narrow down my car choice. Beamer is still my fave car, and it shows. But I'm going to try the Audi and AM tonight and see how they compare. I'm thrilled for the new season!

Does running in traffic effect the tyre temps and pressures?

Done an AI race and noticed extra movement and the tyres were above the ideal temps.

Dirty air does reduce downforce and make your car understeer a bit and thus increase tyre pressures and wear a tiny bit if you drive about 0,5 s or closer to car ahead. But most likely you are driving differently because you cant see the track and your markers as well as when driving alone, or even more likely conditions had changed between practice and race.

I'm really looking forward to spending some time racing tonight.  Like most of us it seems, I've had very little seat time in the last month or so.  Mostly due to it being so damned hot.    I've just remembered to put the magic VR hat on charge so it's ready for tonight though.

Annoyingly I'm not available for the first two proper races of the new season...  got a work trip to the US getting in the way.  Not that it will affect my ranking in the championship much I suspect 😆

There are two 'drop rounds', so as long as you smash it for ALL the other races you should be fine :D

Quite excited for tonight, but I might be a little quiet on the mic (which is annoying, as it's been a while since we spoke); but I'm still suffering from the after effects of covid so have a nasty cough and tiredness :(  I'm hoping I don't feel too bad in the race, but if I duck out early that's why.

I hope you feel better soon mate.

I tried the Aston and Audi last Tuesday, and although I like the Audi, I'm faster and more comfortable in the M4. So BMW it'll be again for this one.

So good to be back racing! After barely managing to do a valid lap through practice and quali, the race started surprisingly well and controllable for me. First lap incident bumped me up to third from sixth without much effort, then I surprised myself by how well the car settled in to following @Meers next up. A few laps of that and I got my chance after Horrid Chicane went wobbly for him, and that went well too, I got by nicely around the exit. Second place!

Then it started to get a bit wavey woo, including an absolutely magnificent drift through acqua minerali, I'm so proud of that one, but I knew disaster would come eventually. So it did, I eventually lost it coming out of Villeneuve (another nemesis on this circuit for me, easier to count the bits I don't crash frequently in), hit the wall and back down to sixth. And then I got the pit entry a bit wrong, came in slightly hot but hard on the brakes... and got disqualified! The indignity! Seriously that must be quite a harsh limit, I can't have gone very far into it over the mark. Glad to learn that lesson in the warm-up, that's for sure. Also, what a fucker that it lets you sit through the whole pitstop and exit before it rudely dumps you back into the garage and tells you the bad news, haha so mean.

(edit, yeah alright, going by the replay I was just over twice the limit as I actually crossed the line, but fully locked-up trying to slow down! My bad)

Overall, brilliant to be racing with everyone again. The Porsche did just enough to make me think I might be able to tame it but that's probably not a clever thought. I just don't think I have the concentration span to not mess it up over an hour because it doesn't take much to get it out of shape. Racing!

That ranking increase is a bit odd.  I guess I gained a few places from my starting position - so I'd expect that to count  ...but then so did you Dave.

I find it interesting to see that Trevor, who caused multiple incidents (see the video below) still gets a decent score there.

Anyhow - had a great nights racing.  Brilliant to be back!

Here is my highlight reel:
