Happy birthday to your kid, @Meers! You got him his own sim rig, yeah?

Thank you! Ha no not yet. He got some toy dinosaurs, books, clothes and a proper workbench sim rig!

I'm not gonna make it in time for the race tonight chaps. I'll be back for next week's race though! I'll unregister myself now.

Man, I have still not yet learnt to love that track but that was some excellent racing tonight. So pissed off I managed to spin the Porker after I'd got myself well established as 'best of the rest' behind the top 3 TSR guys (who were a class above us again, we need practice! ho ho). All that hard work and only 15 minutes left. The car wasn't the same again after that, sadly, lost a lot of top speed and a bit of cornering ability too.

Anyway, was worth it for the frantic battling earlier on, some really brilliant moments in that swapping positions through hairpins and going side by side around the stadium. I got my 3 track cut warnings in the first 20 minutes which kept things extra tense! Wish I could've been in the mix for the later duel as well, that sounded cool.

Ah something went wrong recording the highlights from tonight's race, I'll try again tomorrow after work.

There was some really fun racing tonight, in the first half my tires were under pressure and I couldn't keep up to @milko and @SneakyNinja. Managed to undercut sneaky in the pits and a great battle over the second half of the race ensued. Lots of missed braking points and sloppy corners but great fun.

As I said last night... Rubbish track, brilliant race.

Loved the close racing with @milko and @EuroVapeSim2! Shame I messed up at 'that' corner (6:00 in the highlight video) and a shame the Porker tried to kill Milko, but it was great to be able to go wheel to wheel with you guys.

And, I even managed to remember to change my tyres!

And, I got my first ever track limits warning! Two in fact. I've never had one before (which, I know, means I'm not pushing hard enough)

AND we don't have to race at COTA again this season. :D

STEWARD'S INQUIRY!!!

Steward here. Looks like a moment of situational unawareness on car nr. 41's part, not a deliberate action. So it looks like a racing incident. But I'd like to see some onboard footage of car nr. 41.

@SneakyNinja goes airborne, about to lose a place to @Ian Paskin and get sucked into a multi-lap battle with me.

During which, this act of disgraceful intimidation!

STEWARD'S INQUIRY!!!

(actually at the time I didn't even know for sure what happened, there was a bang and a slight judder but no harm done)

Stupid SAUSAUGE! Wasn't the only time I had fewer than the regulation 4 wheels on the ground last night. <mutter>

Crikey, sorry about the 'love tap' down the straight there! I think I was distracted by something and wandered off line - certainly wasn't intentional! I humbly apologise and await whatever punishment the stewards see fit to rightfully impose.

Me too! I'll take a look and if it's not too incriminating, I'll post it :)

haha honestly it looks on the replay like if anything you came off worse, quite a bounce back there. The jump was very impressive from my angle!

Would have been uncomfortable, bordering on painful if I had the motion rig on! It makes you really cautious about crashing and bouncing about.

Combined with VR, it makes big crashes feel like the "Uh oh, this is gonna hurt" scene from Days of Thunder.

Setup sorted for tomorrow. @milko's still a tad too fast for me though.

I wouldn't worry too much, Oulton bumps and Porsche friskiness mean there's a high chance of me having a moment or two during a race. Love the circuit though!

Then again, I haven’t done 65 practice laps!

Literally 30 of those were trying to find a setup that doesn't bounce off the track at T2 one in three times! It's like a landmine goes off under it on default aggressive, completely uncontrollable. Think I have that tamed now at least.

But yeah I could lap Oulton all day I think, it's a great track for attacking times.

Do any of you guys aim to get the new 40 series GPUs?

Thinking about it, as I'm only on a 5700XT, but I suspect a ye olde 3080ti would be enough.

If I get one, I'll go all in and get a pre-built system with one in rather than upgrade my current machine.

I've taken a GPU upgrade into account already for my PC. Hopefully the 30 series go down in price, or I can find a good deal on a 2nd hand one. Not going for a 40 series, way too expensive.

One thing worth trying in Oulton Park is that instead of making setup softer(more mechanical grip, better over bumps) make it stiffer and raise car say 5-10 mm overall. Shorter bumpstop range and stiffer stops, higher ride height, stiffer wheelrates and damping will all better prevent bottoming out and sudden aero balance changes(especially turn 2) and the snap that follows and can make the car more predictable to drive.  There will be more drag and car will shake more but thats ok as Oulton is quite slow in average speed.

I wont drive tomorrow but next week maybe.

Cheers for this, I've been running aggressive and altering the pressures only to keep it simple while I learn the game.  I've been spinning out far more and the balance I way off on this track as can be seen with my ratio of laps.

The track flow is nice tho.

Might be worth starting with the safe setup and gradually making it faster, rather than starting with aggressive and gradually making it safer?

I'm basically on the default safe setup with tweaked tyre pressures.

Are you still in Aston? I recommend max wing, ride heights something like 86 rear 56 front, front bumpstop range say 5. Use 3 and 8 or 2 and 8 Traction Control values.
