I've been spinning out far more and the balance I way off on this track as can be seen with my ratio of laps.

It's a tough track to get quick on with all the bumps and narrow tarmac, have you watched any track guides? This is for an older version of the game but still ought to be useful for you if not:

@milkoyeah spent a little time last night to get an eye on the correct line, I was quite surprised to see how they had to hustle the car around, plenty of oversteer corrections.

I often see this if I check out Coachdave hotlaps or whatever - I'm not sure it's a sustainable way to drive a whole race though, with fuel loads and tyre wear unless you have the alien concentration and reflexes to hold it together. I think you need a calmer setup.

Heres very quickly done Aston setup (20-26 degrees), basically random clicking around as if I knew what I were doing. 😁

Time was 1:34.9 with full tank of fuel but that can be improved by a second or more at least. I miss 2 apexes and dont attack the track enough. Last time I drove this track was here in rllmuk. 🙃 Lap on board: https://streamable.com/3sh1al

In turn 3 notice I only lift, no brake. If you lose it when braking move brake bias more forwards(higher %). Notice it now has brake pad 2, you might like 1 more. If its too oversteery in general, lower rear ride height and increase rear bumpstop range.

Morning all, it's race day!  Don't forget to register if you haven't already.

It looks like our numbers have dwindled 😔 I know we have a couple of regulars away, but if we didn't have Ryan from SGP and Ian from TSR registered we'd only have 5.  I'll have to do a roll call post to see if we can drag people back, but I've tried that in the past without any luck.

Are people getting tired with ACC?

I'll be honest to say that my interest in sim racing has faded quite a bit.  I'm at a transitional period of my life (dealing with the after effects of a breakup and house move planning), and to help with the mental health I've been doing more outdoor activities (more running, hiking, backpacking, camping etc) and sim racing is taking a back seat.  I just don't feel like practicing any more.  I look forward to Thursdays, but in all honesty that's probably more to do with the social aspect of chatting to you chaps.

Trying to hang on in there with it, but it's difficult ya'know?

Anyway, probably a bit too open and I'm sure you guys don't need to know the ins and outs but there we are 😆

I'm just getting started, this game does need some commitment some can see why people could struggle got make time for it. We're coming into the colder darker nights now so people will probably have more indoor time.

The GT7 Monday night seems to have more racers in the coming months so hope that happens here.

I meant to ask, is the a way for me to support the cost of the server?

Yeah, I'm wondering whether it's just a bit of tiredness with the game as we've been at it for years now :D  It's a fantastic game, I'm hoping that the others don't feel the same as me and are still enthusiastic and that we can keep it going.

There aren't any regular up front costs for the server really as it's a dedicated server in my house, but with the cost of energy these days I might have to work out what the real world cost of keeping it running actually is.  But then again I use it for Plex and as a file server anyway, so it's going to be on most of the time anyway.

Not tired with ACC, no. But the main demotivating factor, to be honest, is my drop in relative performance. I used to be top 4 with a rare win. Now with the influx of aliens and me not having improved as much as other regulars I'm in the last 25%.

I'm not improving and it's becoming a bit of a slog tbh. I love the wheel to wheel racing, but in most races now I end up on my own in no man's land far behind the top half. I've even given serious thought to not qualifying and just starting at the back and enjoying the close racing there as I'm never going to compete for podiums now.

I'm sitting here reading the forum, wanting to race and I still cant join you this week.    I'll be back next week though...  dont lose faith in ACC @davejm

It's not really the game, just my life situation and my enthusiasm waning for sim racing & gaming in general.

I reckon I'm still pretty firmly into it. Hopefully we can keep this going, I didn't get nearly as much enjoyment from doing public races on the likes of LFM. And I miss the guys who dropped away already! For the first events of this season we've had at least 2-3 regulars miss races but our overall numbers have dwindled to the point where that makes a more noticeable difference for sure. Hopefully the autumn brings some back in.

@SneakyNinja your league placings still seem high every time, I feel like you've an overly negative view of your performance! But the TSR guys didn't take a summer off like we did and it shows, I was able to keep pretty close to some of them before and now they're gone over the horizon quite quickly.  You, @EuroVapeSim2 and I might've been the equivalent of three bald men fighting over a comb for 4th place last week but it was still great fun! And I seem to be certain of ending up driving close to @Meers at some point in every race we're in together lately, we're just drawn to one another :eyebrows:

Thanks @milko - you're probably right. But my league placings are mainly due to the fact I race pretty much every race (last time I was poking about in the sim.gp stats it showed I'd taken part in 63 out of 64 races.) And, I rarely bin it in a race (or "Controlled flight into terrain" as the RAF call it) - which gifts me places when others do.

But I also LOVED the three-way baldie battle last week! More of that please :)

(Everyone is drawn to @Meers, it's his magnetic personality :D

I rarely miss a race too, but I do fail the "rarely bin it" check, alas :D

You shouldn't underestimate the skills behind driving steadily/smoothly/reliably, because it's beyond me and now I've leaned right in by choosing the Porsche.

I want to do a roll-call but without it being like a big old desperate chase. Still though, where's @winky we haven't heard from you since the touring cars at Knockhill, everything ok mate?

Another enjoyable race evening, though one that will definitely be better with some more faces back next week! @mrben09 we missed you!

After a pretty awful qualifying I made a nice start from 6th... which propelled me into the middle of a 3-wide coming up to turn 1, eek. @Meers it was lovely giving each other enough room around there and into Cascades. After which, some mayhem as two of the TSR boys slid out approaching the Shell hairpin, letting me and @SneakyNinja gleefully zoom away along with Whacky Teddy. He soon had a bit of a moment on that corner as well, so I was up to second place in what felt like no time. This was going very nicely albeit I wasn't particularly able to reel in first place, but everything felt good and I'd maybe get a chance around the pitstops. Except... 15 minutes in, what usually happens happened, hello darkness my old friend. Got a kerb wrong coming out of the first chicane, spun, didn't take much damage but lost a lot of time sorting it out to point the right way again. Back down to 5th, bah. About a minute earlier I'd been telling myself to just chill and drive carefully, but maybe I should've stayed gung-ho.

I don't really know how I ended up finishing 3rd from there, I got an overtake done when @Ian Paskin ran wide at Druids but by the final lap I was just a second back from Sneaky who was in second place, Whacky Teddy winning it another 8 seconds up the road. But I'd been so far behind you two after my little incident, I don't really know how that works, did you have some minor accident as well? Overall, a better showing from the rllmuk-racing boys this week, lets hope for more of us and more from us next time at the Glen.

@Valver you can take over highlights duty again please, I'm no good at flicking between the cars so this doesn't show the first lap craziness so well. And also apparently no sound?! Not sure how I managed that.

aha, cheers. Had another thought I want to post before I forget again. As a way of drumming up interest/making the practice build-up more fun, could we try to organise a social on the practice server this week? I doubt I'll be on before Sunday night at the very soonest but would be good to have some competitive hotlapping/setup chat/just shoot the shit a little while we're driving. It's been fun in the past.

Great idea!  I might be more inclined to get some practice in.

I'm thinking of changing cars, to add some variety.  I've never really raced with a front engine car, so I'm thinking of trying the Aston or BMW.  No doubt I'll have a play around and end up in either the McLaren or Ferrari though :D

That's what keeps happening to me! I will definitely do it one day.

I had a great race overall, but I lost control in the penultimate corner and got t-boned by Teddy which cost me my 2nd place. 😞

I was consistent, had good pace and the car felt great. I had a respectful tug for position with @milko in turn 1 and 2 of the first lap, and when Ian and Phil lost control in the hairpin, I was in 4rd chasing Milko, Teddy and @SneakyNinja. Managed to keep up with race pace quite well and managed to overtake Teddy at some point. But I lost control later on and he crashed into me causing me some damage. I decided to come in for my pitstop and hastily set my pit strategy in the pitlane. I had to drive slowly in order to finish my pit settings, costing me 3 positions in the end.

Roll on the Glen!

Fair, fair :)

But - to paraphrase my favourite motor racing documentary "Days of Thunder" again, I wasn't driving faster, everyone else was driving slower!

The race was basically me driving flat out for an hour with no mistakes, accidents, spins etc. I couldn't have done any better. But others had spins, accidents, damage and so on and were still able to do it faster. Another lap and @milko would have got me too.

On the plus side, "The race was basically me driving flat out for an hour with no mistakes, accidents, spins etc." which I should be more pleased about :D

Word. No incidents and solid consistency will get you up the ranks faster than fast laps.
