Well that was a good example of a hare and tortoise approach :D

I'm about a second off where I need to be pace-wise, but I'm pretty consistent and don't make many mistakes. The fact I was battling with people who had damage and/or taken drive throughs show just how much pace others have, but to paraphrase the old tyre advert, "Speed is nothing without control" :)

Whilst I don't like that track, it is pretty easy to defend as the only real overtaking spots are at the ends of the straights, so kudos to @Meers and @mexos for the hard but fair attempts at getting past for lap after lap after lap.

And well done @SharkyOB on the win. You just, well, pissed off and left us al!

:hat: Every lap I was hoping to get through the last corner before the long straights faster than you, but due to some bent bodywork, and I was like

The entire time behind yo Aston's phat ass.

Looking at the results on simracing.gp as I wanted to compare my best laps to others.

It seems that finishing 5th is the bonus points position (presumably a simple typo when it was setup)

It's 2 bonus points for pole position :)

EDIT:  Oops, the points are out of whack in general aren't they.  I'll fix.

Once more every time you caught him you got excited and started to overdrive. 😎

🤷‍♂️

It's my Achilles' heel, apparently.

What kind of music are you making mate?  If you ever need basslines recording we should talk 😊

I've mainly been doing rock and metal over the years (rock, stoner rock, punk, death metal, funeral doom etc), but I also love synth music and play a lot around with styles. Lately I've been interested in and exploring ambient music so that's been the main focus lately....but it changes all the time. Now when I don't have a band anymore I'm enjoying jumping between genres and styles as I feel..

I've played bass since I was 17, and guitar since I was 31 or so. Done bass and guiar in rock bands, punk bands, goth metal bands and death metal bands. Also done vocals in a death metal band in addition to a lot of doomy stuff I haven't linked here. So a bit of everything :D

So those bass lines are handled, but thanks for the offer. Might reach out if there's something I can't do that I need :)

Attempt 1 in Valver's highlights reel was part you broke earlier than I thought you would + my panic and trying to turn it into an OT instead of shunting you, then realising it wasn't going to happen and slamming over the kerbs instead of taking you out!

You positioned your car really well and got good exits where you needed. I faffed around wasting time being close where it didn't matter and getting bad exits where I needed good ones. I knew what I had to do - keep close out of of the left hander on to the back straight or after the first corner. You had the first corner covered and I was fast in the esses hit so I decided ok, back straight. When you covered the inside line I was going to back out - but I'd seen the race time - we'd been battling for quite a while and I realised I needed to get it done or I'd run out of time. I went for the outside instinctively but when we got to the braking zone my brain was like WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!? and honestly let out an arrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! squeal as we went through.

You were way faster than me so it was just a matter of time - great pass though. I couldn't hear the 'arrrghhh' from where I was :)

I keep trying to trade some of my consistency for raw pace, but I just can't do it and the mountain is not the place to try and force it!

Barcelona next.  You're looking at the 'Endurance' series on SGP.  It's split into two series, so if you click on the main events page for the rllmuk Racing community you'll see them all listed.

It's bloody true though. I've not been at this as long as many of you, but it's over a year and I reckon I've got around @SneakyNinja about twice. (including a cheeky one early in the first lap of Misano last week, I was quite pleased with that)

Great, so now it's a badge of honour to get past me.

I'll show you all... I'll just start at the back so nobody can overt..... hang on a minute....

It's more like everyone has upped their raw pace whereas I've seemingly upped my defence and consistency instead, meaning I'm quite often a roadblock for faster guys who had back luck in qually or the race start, which means I've just had more practice at defending :)

The biggest change was learning to not crap myself every time someone was up my chuff. As Crew Chief says "Apexes and exits.."

@davadvice1 heres folder with Misano Aston setup and the 2 telemetry files. Last of the 5 laps is 1:34.852 which is faster than pole time in last weeks race, but I did this with full tank of fuel. 🙃 That said that is not particularly good driving but driving line should be there or thereabouts. I think I had 3 or 4 more tenths in sector times.

Feel free to laugh at the setup, its just random clicking and slider moving with no tuning, science let alone telemetry wizardy behind it. The more I drive Aston the less I like it, somehow despite being long wheelbase front engine car it seems to really hate touching curbs and its very easy to slide a bit, lose traction and kill already poor acceleration.

After quickly reviewing this just now i can see where i'm losing time against your time, it would seem i'm a littl over eager on the gear changes mainly going up instead of haning on to the current gear, your steering is more agreessive than mine as is your braking .

I'm scrubbing a lot more speed of at the kink just before the last hairpin.

there is also a little bit of unusual throttle data at turn 8, it looks like we are doing the same thing in respect of getting on the throttle (it's an on off coast on again )but i'm doing it earlier for a little longer and leaving a big gap. Quite strange.

Again thanks, I can have a look at this get some time on the track later and come back see what it all means for me.

It took me long time to find this but many of the pages have a variance button when you have 2 laps selected. It will create a new graph showing where the time delta is if you select time on the horizontal axis. I highlighted them in screenshot below. Theres 2 laps from the same telemetry, the hairpin before back straight. On gray lap(35.169) I managed to get better exit from previous corner and in the hairpin itself I started to brake a bit later and less, carrying more speed, but still managing to get on throttle earlier and straight away to 100 % meaning I must have been understeering or sliding on the other lap. I dont remember if driving line was similar so for that Id need to go see the replay.

On another page we can compare my steering and car's accelerations and over/understeer angle. Looks like on one lap I was indeed steering too much and understeering. I had probably taken too wide line and went to marbles or something.

I added a .zip file with some different workspaces for you in the google drive folder.

@davejm - can we bump the practice server on to the next scheduled track, please?  Ta!

Next week is a break, and I'm away on a work conference.  Do you want to do something like GT4s, Porsche Cup maybe?

If so I can set the practice server to whatever you fancy.

I've had a bit of a go this weekend, trying to iron out the over driving / steering too much. And it's worked. Adding more weight to the FFB has definitely helped. I'd taken some out to help me get round the mountain but on a wide open circuit it was holding me back. I tried a few other cars too, didn't like the Mclaren much or the Merc and the Porsche is a flat out nope, it just seems to decide mid corner sometimes oh let's go over HERE. Here being the barrier. I like the Aston, I can push with with it and feel like I have some control. Will try out more cars as I go.

what DLC did you guys end up with @Marmite / @mexos / anybody who might not have the full set?

I don't mind setting up GT4/Porsche Cup/Ferrari Thingy/Lambo SuperTrofeo2. Or AutoMobilista 2 of course. But ideally it'd be something everyone's got.

might want to use another car class if you race there this week perhaps?

Yeah I think we should, if indeed that's what ends up happening. Just need to work out what alternates everyone's got, I can never remember which ones came in as part of packs apart from the GT4.
