Maybe we could all race something obsolete but in the main game, like the Jaaaaag. Or force people to buy the Challengers Pack and get some trail-braking practice in the BMW M2.

Racing in Gallardos might be fun considering just how awful it is

what DLC did you guys end up with @Marmite / @mexos / anybody who might not have the full set?

I don't mind setting up GT4/Porsche Cup/Ferrari Thingy/Lambo SuperTrofeo2. Or AutoMobilista 2 of course. But ideally it'd be something everyone's got.

I'm (yep, still) looking at a Quest 2 to buy. Are there any other peripherals I need to get it all working on a PC? I read something about it needing a link cable? Does it power up through that cable as well? Any other essential things that I need with it?

Just a long USB C -> USB ‘whatever you’re connecting to your PC with’ cable if you’re going wired. The headset charges over USB too.

Oh, that's all? Nice! Thanks, Nick.

I saw this cheeky "tactic" for Paul Riccard, on Reddit this morning.  Stay out of bounds for a whole lap, cut out huge sections of track and yet it records a valid time in Qually.

Thought I'd share FYA.

And a straw. It's surprisingly hard to drink ones tea whilst donning a VR hat.

Thinking of getting a CamelBak© hydration pack. 😆

I drink tea all day long. Why would I stop just because I have 2 TV screens strapped to my face?

Lol. Now I'm picturing this...

Is it time to get a couple of button boxes as well?

Well, I think it won't be an exploit for much longer after Kunos gets wind of it. 😅

I just got a stream deck lol.

That's actually a good idea.

I've got a lot (if not, all) of functions mapped on my wheel already (as secondary and tertiary functions). Maybe I would need one for the pit options...

Is it easy to view the HUD in VR?

The thing that puts me off a stream deck is that you pretty much have to be able to do it by feel in VR, I've seen some custom ones on Etsy that look a bit easier plus include fun things like rotary switches and whatnot. Yet to take the plunge, still. And Dave seems to manage fine with his anyway. For now I just leave wipers and lights on auto, same with pit limiter, and choose the options for that with my wheel's d-pad.

The HUD is fine in VR, you can tweak its position to bring it more central if you need to anyway. If you're using Oculus you won't be able to use the fancy Steam overlay extra HUDs 3rd party people have programmed, as far as I know anyway.

A gym/sports/cycle bottle with a sippy cup style spout is the solution for in-race hydration!

Oh and for that cable, you do have to check it's proper USB3 I think to get the requisite data speed out of it. Usually the reviews or questions on Amazon will tell you if someone's using it as a Link cable successfully anyway.

That's very elaborate, thanks Mike!

If the HUD's perfectly visible, then I won't need a button box. Using the plethora of buttons on my McLaren rim for most functions anyway, and the rest via the pit HUD on-screen. I can ditch the Sim Dashboard app on my base-mounted phone though, no use for that in VR anymore. I can also imagine I'll have to switch on the in-game wheel and driver's hands again. 😅

How else would your brain be convinced you can flip the bird at people who overtake you?

Here's one of the button boxes I like the look of. Not cheap, and I think it comes from Germany so shipping is horrid for us UK types. https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1120098769/

There's also some like this that build in a stream deck (which you have to own already). https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1293586769/

Some options for people with far too much money: https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1160741755/ - https://www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1186487714/

But there's absolutely loads on there of varying ugliness and utility.

Oh, one more - the amount of storage on the Quest 2...does that even matter for PC gaming?

Not at all.

This is my little button box showing my mappings for ACC:

I deliberately bought one with large buttons and reference points that I can feel for in VR.  The switches are really useful for that even though I don't have them mapped to anything.

Anything I need easy access to while driving (pit limiter, PTT etc) is mapped to the rim and I use basically the same setup for AMS2.

No idea how you'd use something like the thumbnail @Valver posted above in VR, way too many buttons close together.

Cheers lads. That there numpad might be a good option, but VR blindless makes it hard to use, I'd imagine. Unless you can add some braille-like notches on it for navigation. Still convinced that I won't need one. 😅

Are any of you VR users wearing glasses? How does that work in VR?

my vision isn’t bad enough that I need them in VR, if I wear my contacts I can’t tell the difference. But I’d probably do contacts. I think some people can fit glasses in there just about, or was that just a Quest 1 thing? Anyway, some people in the Quest topic have spoken highly of prescription lenses you can buy for the Q2.

I've got contact lenses, but I prefer to wear glasses at night. My eyesight is ~ -3.8 now, so I think that's a bit too much. I will need to see (edit - pun NOT intended).

I just bought the challengers pack and the GT4s for 5 quid a pop on cd keys. So that's me all up to date on DLC now.

Imola is FUN. Less so in the dark!

If you're on the server and its dark, just log off and back on again.  Known bug with ACCs server software :)
