I’m not a fan of Bathurst, I don’t think it facilitates good racing for the size of field that we have.

I've done an endurance race there with 40 cars. It's...doable. 😅

40 cars is probably more fun though, right? It's such a long track you can get a bit lonely with our 14ish. Saying that we usually find ourselves in a few close clusters all the same.

Honestly I find it challenging enough to make it over the mountain alone that I get a worthwhile if kinda horrible fix all the same.

Not sure I'll make tonight, I'm making good progress with the shoulder and think it best to keep it relaxed.

On the subject of Motec, I love it if someone would like to share a file so I can overlay it to see where I'm losing time.

Happy to share mine (don't to why anyone would want to see that tho :))

I can share mine. Which car and track would you like?

If you have data from last week that would be excellent any car will do it'll allow me to see roughly where I'm behind etc

Thank you

RllmukRacing new motto - it's all very rough in practice:

It was Misano and you drove the Aston right? I'm very rusty but I'll try to put together a clean lap. 🤪

Btw RCI has the next endurance season start in March. No teams or cars decided yet. https://racerci.com/championships/163/calendar

It's only the PC version we race together sorry, there's no crossplay possible. @mexos will have to tell you if it's been worth making the jump!

@Parappa Yeah I think you'll need to get the PC out for this one! It will be worth it :)

BTW just looking at the race...

Rain 0

Does that mean it won't rain at all or just it isn't raining at the start? Or something else?

It's just a 'base' rain level.  Depending on the randomness setting you can still see rain with a low base rain level, but not how we have this event configured.  There's no chance of rain tonight... it'll be challenging enough on the mountain.

That reminds me, I've adjusted the event settings to match up with the practice server so your tyre pressures should be good to carry over.

sounds like a plan - will fire it up when the practice server for the next race is available.

awesome! I think there is a bit of a gap so plenty of time to get used to it all.

You mentioned that a wet track feels more slippery in GT7 than in ACC. It's more slippery in FM7 as well. Maybe for dramatic effect? I drive a lot every day and rain doesn't make tarmac less grippy than dry weather. Unless it has been dry for a long time, then it gets really slippery when it first rains again (due to all the muck buildup).

But what and how are you driving?  I've spun a car on the road in the wet, without really trying.  The combination of RWD, a car that's a little rear weight balanced, and basically road legal semi slicks.  Regular road tyres of course shift the water, meaning they have a higher contact patch and can grip.  The less tread, and indeed the more water the easier it is to spin them up, or otherwise loose traction.

I *think* without knowing the physics model, that GT7's grip multiplier (divider?) for kerbs for example, is very high.  Wet kerbs are like ice.  Similarly, where GT7 thinks there is a puddle, it's also high, to silly levels. You can start to feel the simplicity of the system - no joke - if the track is wet, there is an optimum speed. Anything above and you'll start to spin.  One of the in game challenges is a race in the wet, and I discovered that providing I didn't exceed 112mph, the car would keep pointing straight. 113 = stepping out. 115 = barrier.  Lap, after, lap!

GT7 in the wet on on road tyres on the other hand, feels really nice.

Sad to see others dropping out of tonight, but on the other hand, I don't seem to be able to make more than about 10 minutes without binning it, so less folk means less chance of me accidentally collecting someone :(

Might have to miss this one, I have damaged my foot in some way and it has become quite painful to use the accelerator. kind of a bummer seeing as I'd finally got decent pace in practice.

Oh no! That sucks big time, man. Sorry to hear that. Hope you recover quickly!

Thanks kinda weird to complain to someone who was stuck in the hospital. 😄 Honestly think imma just push through the pain and race anyway love bathurst and wanna have some good battles on the mountain.

Don’t worry about that! Pain is pain, injury is injury. Make sure you take care not to over load the foot so you make it worse. And you can always drop out if it gets too bad 😀

I’m looking forward to the race but strangely nervous. The top section feels extremely narrow even when alone 😅

Sorry in advance to anyone I make contact with, it’s never intended.

If we need a safety briefing, I would just urge people to be patient over the mountain, try to leave a bit more gap than you might normally, and if you do crash, hit and hold the brakes until you're very sure nobody's about to drive by (sorry again about that last one, @Meers!).

Even when you're off the mountain, the two big straights lead to high speeds so things can go quite badly wrong if you get feisty going into the corners at the end of them.

And then also remember that we're all probably going to mess up at some stage so think kind thoughts to whoever bins it into you (sorry in advance, everyone) :)

Very good points, milko. Will try to focus on staying safe, not kill anyone and enjoy racing together.  I know one thing for sure - it’s NOT going to be boring 😀😀
