Was that me? I’d set up Discord over my Quest headset for the first time. I think that I still had push to talk on but apologies if I didn’t!

No, I don't think so mate.  Don't want to single anyone out, would just be much better if we can all do this as it's so easy to setup and should be possible with the number of buttons on most wheels.

Just think of it as your pit radio button for extra coolness 😁

Those were certainly a couple of races to forget, Practice times were great, in quali I barely managed to beat @mexos. Race 1 tyre's were shit and I was sliding everywhere with no pace, after a great lead I basically handed it to mexos who flew off into the distance, still managed P2 but was really frustrated. Race 2 was kinda better, the tyre's were much better and I wasn't sliding and was actually just as fast if not a bit faster than mexos at the end but of course I managed to hit a sausage kerb and got sent to the shadow realm, still had an amazing fight through the field and everyone was really good, especially @Meers and @Valver making their beamer and Aston as wide as physically possible, plus the lack of straight line from the macca was tough. Still to go from I think P10 to P4 wasn't terrible but I really felt I coulda won the second race had I just not made a stupid mistake and I'm sure the battle between me and mexos was either going to be absolutely legendary or last all of 5 seconds before one of us spun.

Here are the races from my PoV:

Don't weave when you're holding your speed at the start Meers, that's defo what caught you out in the first race!  There was at least a half second delay between the lights changing and you nailing the throttle.

If you mean the WIDE black Aston that was me :)

@Valver is the one in the lime green Cavalier Lambo ;)

@davadvice1 watching the highlights back I think me and my slidey Porsche could've given you more room when you got inside me on T1, so apologies for that.  Given how much trouble I was having I shouldn't really have bothered trying to defend it.

Still can't get my head around how bad the car was in that race. Sitting duck on the straights, slidey danger in the corners.

haha! About 8 laps in I was in the full "I'm just gonna park this in the pits and abandon the race/I'm never driving this stupid fucking car again I'm back to McLarens" mode

Of course for race 2 it was back to being a wonderful fun experience of dramatic noise and being able to take tight lines steering with the throttle etc and so on. How could I ever doubt the Porker!

That wasn't the main reason for me missing the green lights. I was just looking over at my stream on the 2nd screen at that moment (my colleagues were watching the livestream. Just got mocked about my bad launch here in the office as well). 😅

Oh dear.

Yeah, I really shouldn't do that next time.

We managed to get one of my colleagues a 2nd hand CSR wheel. He will start practicing soon, and when he's ready, he would like to join us.

No worries, it's racing and I thought it was fair tbh, I've not got the replay sorry of you can share it it would be good to see? @Corranga  Ended up better off if not unwittingly involved, it was a decent race and I enjoyed trying to get around you when you were quite unpredictable.

Race 2 was quite a solo event for me, I was hoping to mix it up with with Coranga again but he can't figure out how to work his right foot ;) At the start.

I'm just going off the Valver highlights, back one page. It's not super clear from the angle but I was trying to leave a car and a half on the apex for you and probably should've gone for more, since it didn't work! But yes, unpredictability was my one defence available, except that's generally a bad way to go in racing cars.

Oh god, I'm never going to live down @mrben09's zinger, am I

I think I have an idea for a custom livery for my Lambo:

Best BTCC livery ever. You'd need a button programmed to send a specific emoticon to the car in front when you are going for first.

have you never watched a fast lap on youtube for tips, @Meers? I thought pretty much everyone went out there for T1, although I usually keep my right side wheels on the tarmac as I get paranoid the brakes won't work properly on the kerb. Similar for T1 at Misano among others.

To be completely honest - no, I have not. Maybe once or twice, but I tend to avoid them (I'd rather find out myself). If I would, there'd be no stopping me, mate! 😜

But the one above is proof that track limits are far from consistent in this game. Paul Ricard, I'm looking at you.

My routine is to do a few laps, grumble to self that I'm too slow, look at youtube and realise I'm doing it wrong, then go back and fail to get much quicker despite doing what feels like all the same moves.

Try driving behind @Erik in an endo race! It's like, "Bye Erik"!

Am I getting too old for this shit?

You need to know them track to track, sometimes corner to corner. Usually you need to have 2 tires in contact with the track, that is have them touch pavement inside white line. When there are double curbs the inside curb becomes part of track for example 2 corner exits in COTA or Stavelot in Spa. On British tracks the track is never extended to any curbs.

I will start watching those track vids now. But don't say that I haven't warned you! 😅

I saw people doing it, both at T1 and on the approach to T4 but just can't bring myself to go that wide.

I expect that's where I'm giving up most of my 1-2s deficit to the front runners.

Probably not more than some tenths. Exits are most important

I played it very conservative, I was nowhere near the limit in T1 all race, didn’t want a strike. And still I was over the other side of the kerbs. More than anything I found it kept the car nice and settled having the slightly wider turn in. I could then get on the power pretty aggressively going into the long right hander.

From my limited experience (and what I like in a car) keeping the car balanced and settled is key to lap time. Anything other than a pancake flat curb I pretty much avoid because I don’t want to unsettle the car.

I think to blow the limits at T1/2/3 you have to be so far over you'll end up slower anyway because of bumps or grass.

Exit of the hairpin or the second-last corner were much more likely to invalidate a lap for me, at least in hotlapping.

I got a track limits black mark by missing my braking point approaching the turn 10 hairpin (La Caixa, apparently).  I overshot the corner and went deep into the run off tarmac on the outside of the turn before turning left to get back on track.  I rejoined a way down the track - it was slower than taking the corner properly and I visibly lost time to the cars ahead.

"Track Cut Detected"  Warnings: 1
