Remember that spiderman game on ps4 that everyone played for a week then ditched? They are making a sequel!

Is this a joke? It's the fastest selling Sony game ever (it will likely reach 20 million sales when all is said and done) and was well-received. They'd be mad to not make a sequel.

It came out at a time when very little was on offer, I'd hardly say its something to be super excited about re a sequel. Of all the next ps5 games I'm much more excited about an uncharted, final fantasy or Gran turismo then the same old spidey game wev been buying since psone days

You may be, but it's probably their biggest title right now (well, unless The Last of Us 2 tops it and even that's not a given). Every platform holder would make a sequel to a game that sold as well as Spider-Man did and I don't doubt that a sequel will sell extremely well too. It's a massive IP.

LOL it's the only Single Player game I've still got installed on my console, it's a great game.

When did you last play it?

I'm a life long sony console owner of every generation but to claim spiderman 2 is an exciting prospect and the one people want to see is speculative. The whole Cerny thing was a complete disaster and they néed to pull their fingers out to make up that lost ground. Its still very early days and to dismiss sony this early is foolish, but to defend that joke of a reveal is also foolish compared to what Ms showed I.e.an actual console and games.

It's obvious sony saw the ms reveal and abandoned ship as theirs looked weaker in every way

Sunday.

The rest of your waffle doesn't warrant a response, you lack reasoning, it's what makes you shit at fifa.

My lack of disposable income makes me shit at that!

I want the ps5 to be immense, the thought of jumping to ms next gen makes me feel ill but I just get very early ps3 vibes at the moment, of course long term that turned into the best console ever

It matters little to me I won't be a launch day client this year with all that's going on in the world so can wait it out

I liked Cerny’s presentation, but then I’m a rollmuker and not the average gamer. I don’t give a shit what they think.

Was the message mis-pitched to the general public? Was the pitch of the message let’s say awry? It seems like it but that doesn’t detract from my impression of the PS5. I can’t wait to see what experiences we get from this SSD and audio chip.

Have you sent him pictures of your ears yet?

The argument that 'It was a GDC talk' so the reveal was fine is ludicrous.

The point that people reacting badly to the dry and boring nature of the talk is THERE IS NO GDC. They cancelled it. It sucks that you spent hours writing an hour long talk on Hard Drives Mark, but we don't need it anymore, they've cancelled the event. Your plan to drip feed tech info won't work if you just broadcast it online and advertise it on Twitter, everyone wants to know what the PS5 is, and your reveal told them that PS5 is a bunch of features we haven't fully tested yet, a weaker GPU than Xbox, a weaker CPU than Xbox, a fancy SSD that lets us make levels in a new vaguely explained way and the sound will be great if you take a photo of your ear and send it to them. All explained by graphs and diagrams.

They should have done a 10 minute video about what the box looks like, how the GPU is wicked fast and it will have groundbreaking audio; show a game looking fucking lush and then a few days later dropped the talk on youtube with a 'Here is a deeper dive into the tech behind our PS5 announcement'. Microsoft had the Phil Spencer article a few weeks ago to set up the Digital Foundry stuff, Sony should have followed suit.

If they have nothing to show visually about the machine yet, don't show anything. The whole thing comes across as completely tone deaf to the market.

1TB PCIe 4 drives 150 quid. If stuff like that can be plugged in then prices aren't too crazy.   2TB for 150 by end of year would be good.  2TB has been all I've needed for my PS4 so far.

Except 2tb will shoot up in price due to demand

NAND and memory are used in so many things these days though, and there's always loads of demand for the fastest stuff. Sony and Microsoft are small fish in a big pond in this respect, compared to companies making phones or server parts.

As though the market leader's player-base will be so insignificant developers like Activision wouldn't dream of introducing features specialized to PS5 hardware.

Ridiculous.

Not if it's a multiplatform game and making a specialized PS5 version unlike the others adds cost compared to a straight port. That's how it is and had always been. But PS5 exclusives should hopefully show us what can be done with it.

The reality is the Series X probably will be able to do it. The problem for next gen multi format development will be PC's and the continued usage of standard HDD's.

Anybody playing modern PC games in 2020 has at least one SSD in their build - admittedly it might be SATAIII, rather than NVME.

However anybody who has bought their PC in the last 3-4 years will have an NVME port on their motherboard, and NVME drives are not expensive. I just upgraded my SSD to a 1TB NVME drive for £95 (it has 3200MB/s read and 1900MB/s write).

None of this tech is new to PC gamers.
