Sorry, bit of a niche and boring set of questions, but...

Has anyone seen anywhere a) if we get an HDMI 2.1 cable in the PS5 box, and b) how long it is?

Appreciate this sort of sage knowledge will appeal to few people, but as I've got my TV wall mounted with a cable trucking sunk into the wall, the cable has a minimum distance to travel just to get to my TV unit before you even think about where in the cabinet it goes and I want to make sure I have something long enough here on launch day!

I have a similar issue and I know the supplied cable just won’t be long enough. It was hard enough finding hdmi cables that worked with 4k on PS4 Pro and OneX, let alone this lot.

In the end I stumped up for two of these to go alongside my other cables for next-gen. Fingers crossed.

If this is the one you need for HDR then the Pro came with one so I would be shocked if the PS5 doesn't seeing as 4k/HDR seems to be a big selling point.

Edit: Oh sorry I should have googled first I think it's 2.0 with the Pro, shouldn't try doing 3 things at once!

Quick resume works even from the power being off entirely. It seems pretty awesome

It dumps the game state out of memory onto the SSD and then reloads it into memory, it's a pretty easy feature to copy, not sure i'd want so much of my disk space used up with quick resume unless it's a feature you can turn on/off.

Bloody hell. I bought three HDMI 8K ones for that price, at that length, at the weekend, based on some comments on resetera. One is certainly managing 4k60 fine. Be interesting to find out if it does 4k120.

Whilst it a cool option, given the flat out speed of the PS5s SSD and the DRAM cache + deep linking we could end up with all the benefits of quick resume without the loss of storage space. We can but dream, I'd imagine it will end up being a feature that Devs have to implement properly so it could be a crapshoot. Unless Sony make deeplinking a TRC. They did with live tiles which eventually disappeared from the os.

The 970 isnt quick enough, the 980 pro probably is

The 970 can be used if you want to run PlayStation 4 games off it. The 980 Pro and WD Black PCIE 4.0 will likely be the first PS5 endorsed drives but only Sony knows right now.

But why would you bother with that? Just get a big drive that can do both, less messing about.

Sony appears to have brought the release date of its various PlayStation 5 accessories forward in the UK, allowing eager players to get their hands on the hardware from November 12.

Just checked my Amazon Pre-Order for the Charging Station and it still has the 19th.

I ordered an extra controller from Smyths Games but can't see my order.

Only 5 days since the teardown, 2 days since the BC details... I'm hungry for more... I wonder if they'll announce some new games this week. Not sure we are going to get a proper hands on till much closer to launch.

They're going to show that guy putting it all back together once he's worked out how to without having bits left over.

They should do this in a couple of years, but the finished version is smaller than the original. PS5 Slim announcement.

If someone is looking at Prime Day for SSD deals in preparation for transferring from PS4 to PS5, does this represent a decent external SSD and a good price?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07XL6BMFP/

It's a bit pricey -

I mentioned this drive in the other thread, https://www.amazon.co.uk/TCSUNBOW-SATAIII-Internal-Notebook-Desktop/dp/B088FKGBNM/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=sunbow%2Bssd&qid=1602579045&s=computers&sr=1-2&th=1

Bought a 1TB for my pro - seems to have more than enough reviews to cover it's 'no brand' looks. Working fine so far in my pro I think I paid 70 at the time but it's been lower. You may get the 2TB for 100 on Prime Day.
