PlayStation 5 - Next gen is expensive

I think the thing is though in most walks of life people will take the easiest option and the vast majority would never upgrade to Game Pass, no matter how attractive a proposition it was. On that basis you can see the logic in putting GWG up to near-Game Pass prices as a better motivator - though, again, a fair amount just wouldn't bother at all and just leave the ecosystem all together.

Has anyone successfully returned a faulty PS5 to Argos? I decided to get stuck into Spidey again, but I can't go 15 to 20 mins without a hard crash where the machine just shuts itself down. I had the console delivered from them at launch.

Are you after a refund or repair/replacement?

I'd assume replacement won't happen till the stock issues are sorted, if you're after repair then getting in touch with Sony direct is the best bet.

If they piss you about for a refund, get your credit card company involved (if you paid on CC obliviously).

I have a PS5 from Currys and based on how useless they were when my dualsense played up, I'll probably go the direct to Sony route if I have any issues with mine.

I’d cut Argos out and go straight to Sony. That way you might actually get a PS5 replacement sometime soon. I had a problem with my PS4 on launch and they replaced it straight away so hopefully they still do that.

EDIT: sorry see this was answered...

Yeah, it's a replacement I want. Hmm...

Close to zero chance at the moment I'd say. They don't have them to sell, let alone replace faulty stock.

There's also the logistics of logging a fault and arranging a click & collect replacement, who do you even speak to for that with the stores closed?

I'd guess Sony would turn around a fix/replacement faster than Argos will get a reliable supply of stock.

Just started Miles, played for an hour and it completely froze when I got to his room, then the PS5 wouldn't boot for like a minute. Worst I've had.

I played Ghost of Tsushima just fine for a long while, went back to Spidey, and it crashed again after a stint. This was after two database rebuilds. I've now hit the nuke button and have reinstalled the PS5 OS from USB - essentially factory reset. Spidey and GoT are downloading now, I'll see how I get on with them.

Anybody using the Pulse 3D headset?

Argos have some stock and I'm wondering if it's worth the asking price? Would certainly help when gaming at night.

i have a pair. They’re ok. Bit over priced imo. I have a pair of steel series for the Xbox in my office and those are much, much nicer. Sound better and more comfortable. I think they do them for the PlayStation so I’d personally go for those if I were to buy again.

Had my second Miles crash a few hours later, was another interior forced-walking bit that did it.

Maybe it's an intentional ploy to show off the 2 second loading.

I know this is the 2nd time I've mentioned the game this morning but it's interesting that "Crashes after several hours play, has sub-Bethesda levels of glitching" Cyberpunk is dragged off the PS Store but "First party title that hard crashes consoles constantly" is still being fully promoted.

I didn’t have a single crash completing Miles Morales (not done NG+ yet), I use Rest mode regularly (occasionally with MM) but don’t have an external drive and PS5 is on Ethernet. I had the game installed from release but didn’t play it until Xmas in RT60. Disc edition of game.

Are your headphones plugged in fully? What you’re describing sounds like my virtual surround processor when I didn’t have the jack plugged in quite right. For some reason (phase?) virtual surround has far more trouble with this than ordinary audio does.

Anyone had their machine stop recognising button presses from the dualsense? Nothing would work. Turned on my other pad and selected swap pad luckily that worked.

Yeah, I had this once while playing Demon Souls (1 of my only 2 issues I've had with the system since launch). I found that plugging in and turning on my HOTAS stick made it all come back to life again (just like your second pad) and I could then carry on as normal as well.
