I'm hopeful that by the time I get one I'll be able to pick up a used copy of Demon's Souls for a reasonable price as those that bounce off sell it on..

I expect they'll be a few knocking about .... :D

I don't know why either sony or MS didn't give first dibs to acutual psn/xbox live subscribers that you can verify arent bots

would have been a great gesture to actual gamers and not scalpers

This is genius. I guess too much genius for the 2 companies though

:) Think Sony / MS just want units shifting...

But agree. Even a pre-order offer sent through their messenger apps with discount bundles perhaps. That would have been nice. Perhaps on the next major hardware release they will do that...

However guessing most people who absolutely wanted one of these on release day would have got a pre-order in really early.

Sony tried this in the US for their own pre-orders. It wasn't received well.

Received mine. Just wondering if everyone’s makes a loud fan noise when it first launches or does something for the first time, it doesn’t last long and then goes quiet.

I also noticed that the always on hdr seems a bit dim. Anyone else?

First impressions (without having played a game but messed around with the OS for a bit):

- I dislike the console design even more in person. It's a bulky, inelegant thing I'm glad I can hide away.

- The OS is really slick and does make the Xbox OS look and feel a bit dated actually. But it's the difference between an old but mature and fully functional OS and a new, shiny OS that needs a lot of refinement. The Xbox dash is just way more customisable in terms of how you can have your games, apps, settings and content presented to you. On this PS5 dash you can't seem to reorder anything or put things in folders/groups or get rid of icons on the game bar you don't want. You can customise the pop up guide a little but again not reorder the options. Basically it needs more updates to actually make the basic functionality as pleasing as the speed and appearance.

Gonna try Playroom now and see what this new-fangled controller is like.

Yeah I was a bit worried about the fan noise when it started installing Demon's Souls but it quickly quietened down.
