I've not played many of the Warriors games but am working my way through Hyrule Warriors Legends on 3DS and am loving it. You'll be controlling loads of characters through the whole game I suspect, think Hyrule has 25 on the 3DS, so there will be plenty to choose from!

I can see the DLC packs being lined up already

I'll be the first to say that...

♪ ...I never saw it comiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing... ♪

It looks bonkers. :D Although some fans are probably a bit confused now, especially after so many rumours!

Does this mean the real deal isn't coming to Switch? :(

Looks the case which is not massively surprising as Atlus are normally solid on keeping mainline titles in all their series exclusive to one company. Spin offs are different though. Just seemed odds on with the tease of the name of P5S and I get why switch fans may be angry, but given past form it's not surprising.

Oh for fuck's sake. Literally any other genre would have been welcome. On-rails shooter. Flight sim. City builder. Kart racer. Digital jigsaw puzzle. Battle sodding royale. Anything but this fucking musou shite again! Is there any popular Japanese series Koei Tecmo can resist gleefully befouling with its brainless, rancid warrior rubbish?

Sigh.

I hate musou games so much. :(

Blame those who buy them in their droves.

Hopefully Omega Force will at least mix things up. Dragon Quest Heroes with it's focus on tower defense and slower more methodical combat, and it's sequel which was more of an action RPG both worked well.

Not hugely bothered myself whether P5 comes to Switch or not but is there any fathomable reason that a third party would do this? Restrict each of its franchises to one platform, I mean. What's the point?

I only played the first Dragon Quest Heroes. The gameplay was absolutely dire. An insult to something as revered as Dragon Quest, honestly.

They must have deals in place with Sony and Nintendo, it does seem a bit weird. But main Persona, SMT, Etrian Odyssey games have appeared have only ever appeared on either Sony or Nintendo. SMT V is a Switch exclusive AFAIK.

There might be a slight disconnect with the target audience here.

And all that after including Joker into Smash even... Yikes. Hope the backlash won't become toxic.

Joker in Smash is also linked to Persona Q2 on the 3DS, plus links into this game. And the target audience here is not Switch users, it's Persona fans, which is why it's coming to PS4 as well.  Even if there is some backlash from Switch owners, it'll sell bucket loads on PS4 along with copies of The Royal. I'm not trying to be antagonistic, but this is all about driving new sales to the Persona fanbase. We may still see a Switch version of P5, but I doubt it now, I think this would have been the time to make that announcement

I can't see why you'd do that? Probably more coincidence than anything else.

Ask Platinum. :( (E: although I guess Nier was eventually ported)

Persona 5 is already on two platforms, right? PS3 and PS4. Seems weird that they wouldn't want to put it out on PC and Switch. I think Switch is outselling PS4 by four or five times each week in Japan these days, which makes the decision even weirder. Unless, as @Vorgot suggests, there's some kind of financial agreement with Sony.

I think there has to be some agreement there. Persona 3, 4 and 5 and remakes were all exclusive to Sony across PS3, PS5, PSP and Vita. P4 Arena and Arena Ultimax were on 360 as well though, Q and Q2 were on 3DS. SMT IV and it's sequel are 3DS only, now V is Switch exclusive. It's a weird business model but there has to be a reason underlying it.

It was originally going to be a PS3 game which is why it ended up on both PS3 and PS4

That's my point though. It indicates they're happy to port it from one platform to another. If they can move it to PS4, presumably to sell more copies, why not move it to PC, Switch, Xbox One?

I bloody knew it... well, not the musou part, don't think anyone thought that would have been the next step for P5. But I've been calling out those P5 for switch rumours and leaks for ages on here. I'm vindicated, but in the worst way possible. We're all the Fool's arcana today.

Spoiler

Yes, I'm another who hates Musous.. Musoues... Miceou?

I'm looking forward to it, but I'm a sucker for anything Persona related. I wasn't keen on these games when I tried them in the past, but Hyrule Warriors won me round by having enough Zelda love in it that it made it a different game for me. Old bosses, weapons, characters, locations etc showing up make it brilliant fun, and I'm sure P5S will do the same. It won't appeal to everyone, in the same way the Arena spins offs, the Q games and the Dancing games don't appeal to everyone, but I'm pretty sure I'll find it a blast.

I love Musou and I love Persona. I hope it has a storyline ala P4 Dancing All Night.

Next question will be what I should play and when. I have Persona 5 but don't have enough of an idea if I should now skip to The Royal instead. Musou fun will probably be the desert.

Okumura would be a brilliant fit for this genre...

Spoiler

...he already sends out waves of minions in various ranks during the RPG's boss sequence :D

I for one am pretty sad it's this and not a Switch port, I've got P3, FES, P4, P4G & P5, the only one I have finished is P4G, due to it's portable nature, bought my PS4 for 5 and just can't bring myself to sit infront of a TV for all that time, so have not even started it yet, the PS4 has seen less than an hours use in 2+ years.

I'll try out this though, I enjoyed Hyrule Warriors on the 3ds, poor performance an all, the odd Musou game now and again, if done right, isn't that bad, just REALLY wanted a Switch port of P5 :(

Is there a reason you haven't played Persona 5 via remote play? I played through alot of it that way (especially when in Mementos as I really didn't like the music there) and it didn't hamper my enjoyment of Persona 5 in the slightest.

yep, my PS4 is on a hackable firmware, when I got P5, the system was on 4.55 and P5 requires fw5.05, since then, 5.05 has become the "golden fw" as sorts and let's you do all sorts on the machine, ( it's still at 4.55 though as I just can't be arsed updating it), for some reason, for the last two generations, I have been happy pottering about with Xbox and Nintendo titles, the PS3 never saw much love from me and seems the 4 is receiving just as much disdain, Sony's handhelds have both been early purchases for me though, although the Vita certainly felt left out once the 3DS hit it's stride, guess I'll get round to P5 eventually, it's just having the time and mustering the effort, I'm still half way through Tokyo Mirage on the Wii U, great game, but still hoping for a port of that to Switch :(
