And if Atlus don't have time to do it, there's numerous great Switch porting studios out there which would - Panic Button (Doom, Wolfenstein 2, Wolfenstein Youngblood), Saber Interactive (The Witcher 3, Vampyr, Ghostbusters Remastered) and Virtuos (The Outer Worlds, Dark Souls, Starlink) to name a few. And for the most part, these late Switch ports have exceeded sales expectations. It's not like the series doesn't have a history with portables - both P3 Portable and P4 Golden did well. And it's not like Atlus don't know the demand is there - they recently sent out surveys asking if people wanted a Switch port and apparently they got their highest response rate back. The demand is there. The only reason I can see it hasn't happened so far is that there's some exclusivity in place with Sony. Which is fair enough, but they should say that and the matter would be dropped. They have said that, in a way. Persona is Sony, SMT is Nintendo. Atlus are weird in that they dont feel they have to cater to everyone. Catherine for all. Maybe. They split their franchises all over the place. Persona 6 will be PS5 exclusive. SMT will depend on sales after a Switch launch, but who knows

At this point with SMT V bring Switch exclusive I would bet my house on P6 being a PS5 exclusive

deerokus
This better hurry up, I recently got incredibly addicted to Hyrule Warriors, more so than I ever did one of the main Warriors games, if they've put the same care and love into this as they did that it will be a fun game. Qazimod
The July report has additional info: https://www.koeitecmo.co.jp/ir/docs/ir2_20200727.pdf If you skip to slide 11 it lists some future releases, with P5S being the second one down. The orange column on the right has planned release info - no date here, but "欧米" is just "the west"
mdn2
Out 23/02/2021 on Switch, PS4 and Steam. Renamed Persona 5: Strikers. There was a trailer, but it was pulled.
CovisGod
Might be being a bit thick here so apologies, if Switch is getting a P5 Spin off how come it’s never got one of the main line Persona games? I’d have bloody loved P4 Golden or P5 on Switch
mdn2
Because Atlus. Steam is also getting this sequel but not P5. Atlus have a weird thing where main Persona games are kept to PlayStation whereas spinoffs and old games are free reign (see the recent Steam port of Persona 4 Golden) and their mainline Shin Megami Tensei games are kept to Nintendo and any remakes of those are free reign (see the recently announced SMT: Nocturne on PS4 and Switch). It's...an odd way of doing things.
Qazimod
And also Persona Q on 3DS, so who the fuck knows. I think the series has subtly informed my console purchase decisions in the past; P5 (and Nier and Bloodborne) all ending up on PS4 first helped nudge me in Sony's direction. That said, I doubt I'll wait for P6 to be announced on one platform or another - I'll just end up buying one of the three new-gen machines early and then regretting everything later when it's announced on a different console... deerokus
It's interesting that it seems to be a true action rpg with a proper story, not really a Warriors game at all. I'm pretty excited for it. Can't decide between switch and Ps4.

My experience was release date if you’re lucky. Receiving a game on the release date is the bare minimum I’d accept. Why use them when there are specialists who are cheaper and send the game to arrive within the three day 1st class delivery window i.e. for a Tuesday release there’s a good chance you’ll have it the prior weekend? It very much depends on the title, I think. AAA releases tend to come with pretty stringent conditions when it comes to shipping - Last of Us 2 for example had retailers told they’d be in big trouble if they shipped before the day before of release. I may just be in the right location for it (London) but prime shipping hasn’t let me down. Royal Mail from Simply has seen a couple of delays in the past.
