I'd heard about the Prescription Lenses you can get for the Quest 2 but wasn't sure where the best place to get them from was.  Hearing the positive feedback for VROptician.com in this thread I've decided to give them a go.  I love the Quest, but the main reason my VR sessions tend to end before I'm ready is the discomfort caused by my glasses.

Nice one, I love my prescription lenses.

Got a pro strap for this, it's almost like a new console now. The OG strap is just terrible.

My son got the horribly named "BoboVR M2 Pro" replacement strap with an extra battery.  It changes the way the unit sits on your face completely - in fact it doesn't.  All the weight it now on a pad on your forehead so the headset doesnt really touch your face at all - its much more like the PSVR. And the new extra battery magnetically clicks onto the back section acting as a counterweight.  I'm really impressed with it.  Very comfy, and the battery boost the wireless native gameplay length to about 4.5 hours.

One thing I prefer about the Oculus strap is that there's nothing at the back of it.  With PSVR I'd have to watch a movie sat upright. With Quest you can sit on the sofa with your head touching the sofa back.

On PSVR the size adjustment dial stops you from sitting in that position because the sofa pushes the solid plastic into the back of your head.

I like the idea of the extra battery life but I don't have an issue with the strap, and actually prefer it to PSVR.

I always found a problem with the OG strap letting so much light in underneath, and also moving around too much. The pro strap gets rid of that almost completely. I haven't watched any movies on it yet so maybe maybe that is annoying.

I spent yesterday experimenting with Bigscreen VR remote desktop which is free.  It's pretty impressive as well because I can go upstairs to the PC, run the remote desktop, then go downstairs to the big comfy sofa, stick on the quest and use the controller as a mouse.  This lets me load up my Plex server and watch films.  The quality isn't as good as copying the movie direct to the headset , but it allows you to have friends join you in the cinema and you can all watch at once.  I'm sure this is a major copyright issue, but it's amazingly impressive.

I’m hoping someone can help me. My boys have these and the youngest really wants to play Blade and Sorcery, but I believe you need an external PC for the extra power*. Problem is, I am completely clueless when it comes to PCs, so was hoping someone could point me in the direction of a small laptop that will do the job. I wouldn’t mind nipping you Currys this afternoon to pick one up if possible, so something off the shelf would be ideal.

*it’ll also have the added bonus of letting me play Half Life, so it’s win-win!

The recommended specs are

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790

CPU SPEED: Info

RAM: 16 GB

OS: Windows 10

VIDEO CARD: NVIDIA GTX 1070

PIXEL SHADER: 5.1

VERTEX SHADER: 5.1

DEDICATED VIDEO RAM: 8192 MB

But Id go with something like this
https://www.currys.co.uk/products/acer-nitro-n50640-gaming-pc-intel-core-i5-rtx-3060-1-tb-hdd-and-256-gb-ssd-10233216.html

Thats just at first glance though and not knowing your budget.

That being said, have you seen Blade and Sorcery ? It's really quite disturbingly violent.

(Never mind before you get into the mods)

@Chooch Fanatical sell some and very occasionally have Oculus game bundles - more usually it's Steam codes that can be played via Oculus Link - https://www.fanatical.com/en/search?search=vr&drm=oculus

I thought Humble Bundle did but it seems to just be Steam codes as far as I can see.

Some good deals on VR stuff at fanatical in their Summer sale: https://www.fanatical.com/en/search?search=oculus

Im getting one of these today, picked up from this very forum and while I have a PSVR I dont know a huge amount about the quest…. Firstly I have read the Facebook account requirement is ending shortly and poss even now, while I have a facebook account am I best to avoid linking it if I can?

Honestly the main reason to get it is to play beat saber in the living room, can you have profiles so me and my partner can carry on the score attack competition!?

Of course im also after some game recommendations - will be picking up Beat Saber, Superhot and Resi 4 straight away but anything else a must buy etc!?

I really enjoyed Audica and Pistol Whip. Both are rhythm games that involve shooting -

Pistol Whip is a good workout for your knees, think Beat Saber meets John Wick.

Audica is by Harmonix and is pretty much Beat Saber meets Amplitude.

@Shimmyhill If you already have a Facebook account anyway I wouldn’t see a huge issue with using that as your sign in.

With regards to games, Walkabout Mini Golf is an absolute must as Eighthours says.

This post I did in another thread has a list of games over different genres. Also mentioned are some VR conversions by Dr Beef which are really worth checking out.

Also for seeing what can be done with Untethered Roomscale VR, make sure to give Tea with God a go.

Pistol Whip as others have mentioned is superb. Every time I play it I can't quite believe it's something I own that I can play at home any time. It feels like something that should be a pound a go in the Trocadero.

I really rate Eleven Table Tennis, too, it's the best "real thing simulator" I've seen in VR. It plays a superb game of table tennis and you genuinely forget quite quickly that you're not there for real.

Yep, this is also amazing.

I'd look up how to install Sidequest  https://sidequestvr.com/setup-howto

That will give you some more free games and stuff you can try out

Other games I really rate that haven't yet been mentioned:

Pavlov Shack  (free! CounterStrike clone)) https://www.oculus.com/experiences/quest/3649611198468269/?locale=en_GB

UltraWings 2 (flight game)

Demeo (tabletop RPG)

PokerStars VR

Cheers all, unrelated but im not well today so my other half has been setting up an account and we have run into some issues/questions…

Game sharing, kinda got this going but in beat saber it doesn’t seem to share the DLC song packs - we can load the game on her account but any DLC packs ask her to buy them when I have already bought them on mine, anything im missing?

With 2 accounts on the quest via facebook accounts can you both use the oculus app linked to headset or can only one be linked to the app?

Thanks, ive found the same threads and its not great but then also read its fairly recent that you can share games so hopefully the DLC will follow… given I already own Beat Saber with DLC on the PSVR and that works across accounts I assumed it would here so disappointing for score attack tables (possibly good for me as my partner is much better than I am!)

I did pickup Walkabout mini golf and thats bloody brilliant, im feeling shit so can’t play for too long but my word collecting the balls is a decent enough game let alone the actual game - just cautious about picking up DLC due to account sharing issues so thats a shame for the devs - with full sharing I could see us getting another headset to multiplay a few games!
