Got the Mimic through to phase 2, and her down to half health, but then got blitzed as she still has all her moves from phase 1, plus Scarlet Rot. Very cruel. But I will do it tomorrow I’m sure. Many, many times while playing my way through the various soulsborne games I've been stuck on a boss, repeatedly failing attempts late into the night before finally giving up. Then I load up the next day and do it first go without much bother. It's really odd and a lot of people seem to go through the same thing.

Mystacon
I’m on my NG+ run through and managed to get to Melania after about 4 hours. Absolutely ripped everything to shreds up until I got to her and once again she’s a sticking point.

Benny
4 hours ago, Minion said: I watched some vids on the tube last night and it's technically possible but it's fucking hard, basically you need to run away from the first flurry so she misses, 2nd flurry she gets you whatever so roll in to her, then for the third flurry if you haven't spam rolled to death already you kind of just walk out of it the oppoisite way you're facing. But seriously? Fuck that. This is how I did it. Equip a weapon with bloodhound step, when she goes up in the air spam it like crazy and you might just survive. Repeat when she does it again and for her deathbomb at the start of phase 2 which can also be repeated as well as a scarlot rot waterfowl dance. So good luck! Funnily enough I'm trying to co-op her again now. In the week I've been trying with people I haven't seen her fall once with other players, once we were close, like 20% left of 2nd phase and she scarlet rot waterfowl danced the host. It's definitely the hardest Fromsoft boss I think mainly because of that one move but also because you can't block your way through the fight as you just heal her. I've done her a few times now as a jolly co-op summon. I'm basically a Spoiler Blood flies Bot. I just turn up and repeatedly spam it while they distract her, and it's over pretty quick. Had a really funny one where I got bussed in, the host got invaded while trying to summon someone else, then while the third person was on the way, the invader came down the stairs, all side steps and prancing. One well timed jumping double swipe from my flame art greatscythe and angel wings scythe and the host's double greatswords made short work of them, then, emboldened, we went on to absolutely spank the boss.
PeteJ
Darkroot Depths, Crucible Knight Siluria is one of those annoying bosses that you absolutely know you should be able to do, but his quick one-hit kills keep catching you out. I've come so close several times! First boss I've struggled with for white a while and he's just an enemy plonked there in the map. One of the other boss encounters in the same area was strange. I thought it was going to be an epic fight against a massive, scary looking...thing, that was there in the background, but instead it was a very easy fight against a few NPCs. Seemed like quite a waste of a boss battle, the thing in the background looked way cooler. Unless I've screwed up a quest line of course and have missed out! I've died more times in Darkroot Depths than any other in quite a while. None of the enemies (apart from the knight, and a weirdly high HP bear that the game invites you to cheese) are difficult. The deaths have come from walking up branches. You know the area, with the flame things looking down on you. Gaaah. Edit - Deeproot Depths, I meant deeproot.
Girth Certificate
You might need to get an item for Fia (or maybe just a hug) to continue that quest after you fight her champions. Those crucible knights are great, every one is a bit tougher than the last, and more dragon'y.
scottcr
I've stopped playing this for a bit - level 88. I know it's a From thing, but in this open world type environment - I find the mannequin like NPCs and vague waffle they give out just doesn't draw me in. The gameplay loop is amazing but I feel as though I've just got endless amount of increasing difficulty and big monsters and the joy has gone out of it a bit... I'm replacing it with Kirby for the time being and going back to it in a week or two.

Onze
Here are my Melania battle(s) on my original playthrough. I respec'd my character just for this battle and used the Rivers of Blood. I'm not sure what level I was but it seemed quite easy with me and my mimic wailing on her so I was probably over levelled. First time didn't go too badly but I didn't respect the AOE attack at all. Second time I still didn't respect the AOE too much hence the double KO. But a win's a win. Spoiler I'm sure I could have made the fight even easier if I applied other buffs to my character or weapon etc. TLDR If you're struggling with Melania respec your character and use the Rivers of Blood with a Mimic summon.

I think this is quite common in general - it's exactly what happened to me in Metroid Dread. I spent a few hours banging my head against that last boss. Making similar mistakes. I think you just get furstrated, tired and a bit of boss tunnel vision. I played it the next day and beat him first time and barely took any damage when I did so. After beating EB and thus concluding with I'd finished the game to a point I no longer needed to avoid guides and tips, I sought out to find that much talked about katana, Rivers of Blood. For some reason I'd missed out on the invasion of the character that drops it, even though I'd been in the area numerous times. Folloing a YT guide I went there but apparently the invasion doesn't trigger if you've killed the fire giant. I was planning on respeccing for NG+ but now I'm wondering if I should just do another DEX run and try to get that katana instead.
Alask
31 minutes ago, jonamok said: Another evening no closer to beating Malenia or EB. If you're going through the cheese strategies you may already have tried it, but what worked for me as a faith build was relying on the weapon art of Blasphemous Blade. It's a 20% max hp heal each time it connects, so if you stack as much holy resistance as you can (haligdrake talisman 2, godskin armor, Lord's Divine Fortification) and chain cast it it keeps you alive pretty well. I got through phase 1 without having to use a health pot. It even works pretty well in phase 2.. Also as the weapon is fire and physical it buffs up very nicely with Golden Vow and Flames grant me strength. Can't remember if mimic gets the heal off it too, I'm guessing yes? Certainly he seemed a bit healthier than normal, unless he was just dodging more.

Using a +10 Rivers of Blood and a +25 Blood Uchigatana has made New Game+ a breeze. Here's a playlist of me smashing a few of the early bosses in NG+ just by mashing the Rivers of Blood weapon art. Feels like cheating. Spoiler

smac
I'm still pootling around the starting area - finding little mysteries here and there. I ventured out at night for the first time - to be confronted by a gibbering and wailing noise across the land as I approached a ruin. Not sure what the source was... And I've found silver footprints appearing on the beach, apparently racing around some rocks. This place is vast and weird.

smac
Yeah, that's what I concluded. It'a nice - well, more macabre - touch. You wonder what is significant - like, all those creature skulls on rocks - do they point anywhere important? Is there a secret message in them?
