CrichStand
Sounds like I’ve not hit the first big boss yet then. Must just be a couple of mini bosses or something. No doubt I’ll get smashed to bits. Now just stealthing around and exploring. Still getting loads of appraisals which really is a game changer had a few tight battles now and received health from a message just as I was about to go down. Agree with what someone posted earlier in the thread though, the music is too constant. It would have been better if it often dropped out completely and let the ambient sounds come through more. Yes, he follows patterns, like they all do, but some of his combos are really fast, and it is hard to get the timing nailed, especially with the low endurance you are likely to have. I know what you are trying to say though, they are generally punishing, but predictable. Margit is a twat. Especially as its likely to be the first boss people face (assuming most noped out of the Tree Sentinel to begin with). After my explore of the world I decided to give the Tree Sentinel at go. Found him much tougher than Margit. That feeling when he fell as I got that last hit in, out of healing and with 5 hp left.

I’ve been banging away at Margit for two hours but I can’t do the timing. I think maybe this might be too hard for me. I really love it though, it’s bloody glorious What @Kempstar said. Fuck it off for the time being. Do something else, get some levels under your belt. Pretty sure it’s a rite of passage for every From game to be brick walled by at least one boss. You need to go to the church place where the vendor is behind the Tree Sentinel at night I think, try warping to and from it if it doesn't trigger, you'll know when it does. Thanks, just spent a whole night there and nothing so perhaps that's not the trigger?

I found him way easier, he was just annoying, as he can be hard to hit on his horsey.
Dirty Harry Potter
As someone that only finished the first boss on PS5 Demon Souls and only tried a few of the other dungeons - I am finding this game bewildering. I advent got a clue what the fuck Im supposed to do. Its pretty good, but it AIN'T Breathe Of The Wild. That game felt genuinely new. This just feels like what I played of Demon Souls (i.e. stressful and hard!) in an open world. What am I missing?
Dark Soldier
Wandered outside the network test area. Arse handed to me by an insane sideboss. Noped the ever-living fuck outta there. Best game.

I’m useless at parrying, I usually default to dodge. Shield counter seems really good though. RT after u block an attack with a shield, must try to use it more.
Pug
Oh yeah, the final straw that got me ejecting the disc. When I crouched down the other side of a wall of some ruins that had three or soldiers in it to decide my strategy, I got stabbed twice right through the thick stone wall. Compounded my frustration I'm afraid.

And yes, it is fucking bullshit.

I think it is, but I missed the window for that encounter too. You can still buy the things you'd have been given once you reach the 'hub' area (which I was personally whisked off to at a random bonfire), though. Spoiler You need a 'Spirit Calling Bell' which costs 100 runes. You can also buy a wolf-summoning spell there too.

You can cycle through the items you've equipped by pressing down on D pad. I honestly couldnt see an option to equip it anywhere. Yeah, tried summoning both AI and humans and everybody dies I’ll get there, just rampaged through a fort of the eastern edge of the opening area and got another couple of levels under my belt. Level 20 now.

This just feels like what I played of Demon Souls (i.e. stressful and hard!) in an open world. What am I missing? You’re not missing anything. It’s an open world Souls game. If you’re a huge Souls fan then I imagine this is the best game ever. To me it’s really good but it doesn’t feel like any kind of advancement on other open world games so far. I don’t think the BOTW comparisons have done it any favours. I personally think BOTW is levels above this, but then Zelda is more my kind of game. I’ve played and finished Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls. Played all the others bar Sekiro and I’m also finding this overwhelming in terms of its systems and how you do certain stuff. It seems like you need to read up on stuff or ask others for explanations of how stuff works, which I guess could be seen as a good or bad thing depending on how you look at it.

Mr.Crowley
I played from midnight until 7 in the morning, managed to beat that fucker Margit in the end. This game will definitely consume my soul. Astrologer on PS5 btw.

Doctor Shark
IGN have done a deep dive on performance across PS5, XSX and XSS. In summary: - ps5 is best across both quality and frame rate modes, but only by about 5fps most of the time, a difference they think people won’t notice - XSX is better after the patch, but still not as good as PS5 (although again, they think the difference is imperceptible) - XSS can be pretty rough, even post patch. Davros sock drawer
I really like the bonus you get for clearing a squad out. Not only are the extra flasks a relief, but it’s a handy “all clear” signal.
