Did you get a hug from the woman at the roundtable?

If you did then use the item she gave you and rest

I've had many hugs from her. OMG that did it thank you! Any idea what the negative effect was?

I’m still in the starting area and just fought a couple of bosses I’d missed:

Pumpkin boi and Stone Cat

And then I set out to investigate the foot of the tree:

Cool, a lift. What’s this then a little dungeon? It’s going down an awfully long way…

“Press R3 to switch between surface and underground maps”

Oh my fucking god. Screw BotW - is this a Link to the Past?!

Amazing scenes!

I just found that area too!

A moment of genuine mind blowing awe at what Miyazaki and co have done here. Seeing the scenes on the way down,  wondering WTF is happening, the slight sense of fear, and then being there with the incredible music and beautiful, epic, visuals is on a par with the extraordinary ascent to the Hyperion boss in Returnal. Just an unrivalled sense of anticipation and then a jaw on the floor reveal. Breathtaking.

I have been playing with this constant weird feeling in my chest (not a physical one per se, I’m not having a heart attack!) and I think it must be a slow adrenaline or endorphin release or something as I am wandering the world in a state of constant happiness, excitement, and outright wonder at just how good this is, combined with a slight fear that nothing else is going to come close for a very long time.

This game.

Has anyone else seen “special” bloodstains? I was fighting a boss and saw two red, runed, glowing circles. I figured they were traps so avoided them, but they didn’t go after the boss so I stepped on one to see what would happen. Instead of just saying “touch bloodstain”, it said “touch H’s bloodstain” (only it’s more like a big rune that looks like a H as opposed to an actual H). It just played out a usual bloodstain, nothing fancy from what I could tell.

Doesn’t seem to work for me, seems other having same issue. I do see other ghosts running around in general, none seem to come from the stains though.

Yeah bloodstains seem universally broken, which is sad, my kids have been loving playing this over the weekend, especially writing messages.

Yep, me neither. Haven't seen a single one work since started which is a shame.

Hoping to get back on this today as guests have left. Planning to strengthen some weapons and have a third go at Margit.

Or just get completely distracted and wander off who knows where.

Also might start a different second build on ps5.

Stormveil is hard…

Spoiler

Worked my way up through the first part, beat some knight in a dark room, unlocked a door, got exploding barrels throw at me by sodding birds and now facing some four legged creature with sword arms in a kitchen. Feeling much more traditional Dark Souls here… chipping away at it slowly. Might need a break soon, think me eyes are starting to go weird.

Did you get to the

four-legged creature by dropping from a roof?

I've cleared Stormveil now but I still have no idea what the 'critical path' is supposed to be, because all my progress came after leaps of faith from various rooftops. 😛

I cannot describe the relief of having finally defeated the boss in Stormhill Evergaol

Spoiler

Crucible Knight

A solid 4 hours of attempts, but I finally got the fucker. God damn, he is hard, but it just made it all the more satisfying to beat him

Which hand is everyone using the torch in? You're prevented from doing your R2 windup attacks if you carry torch and shield in the same hand, but if you use the torch in your weapon hand it prevents you from raising it to look around.

I’ve been using it in my right, as it’s quite a useful weapon against a few enemies. But I do miss raising it like in DS2.

Yeah. Even in outside areas in the daytime the torch can be useful. Need to find a comfortable way of using it and not hobbling R2 attacks or the torch's usefulness.
