Elden Ring - Shadow of the Erdtree Expansion Announced

Ohhh, friendly lady at the table liked the root I seem to have on my person. I like being surprised by completing something I was paying no fucking attention to whatsoever.

When’s the expansion coming out? I don’t want to stop discovering new things :(

Dunno. Look, I’m coming from a certain background and trying to wean myself off of it 😆 you know what I mean!

Yes, I need to go get this friend I think. Would help me take down the Erdtree Avatar I know I can beat if it just gives me two seconds to catch my breath. I can’t reliably roll out the way for 4 straight minutes.

Its NOT DPS, its per hit. Its the amount of damage of that type it does, before resistances are taken into account.

Which is why "split damage" eg , phys and magic, can do less than straight phys that may have a lower number.

I haven’t got the jellyfish but my testing suggests the three dogs and the big dickhead bull horned archer from underground are the best ones.

You’ve got tonnes of open world map left to unlock then?

There’s tonnes in Limgrave tunnels.

The item to buy them is here if you’ve got access to this place:

Everytime I read this thread I realise I've missed stuff in previous areas. Also, not one of my Y11 students had heard of the game, and only one of my Y12s had, but they haven't got it because it's too expensive. God knows what kids are playing these days :(

Crucible Knight down, fuck YES!  Having that be one of the first few minibosses a lot of players will come across is pretty funny as even at nearly level 50 I was still only doing 100-150 damage per hit. A lot of magic is of limited use too so it's a very good test of dodging skills.

Why won’t Rodwhatsit give me the jellyfish? She’s standing by the fire in the table room and has nowt much to say to me now.

N/m. Needed multiple going back and forth between her and the smith and leaving the table and coming back again.

For summons I’m really liking my two skeleton boys. They’re not super tough and they don’t do much damage, but when you knock em down they’re pretty good at getting back up again. Just got to hope the boss doesn’t do an aoe on them while they’re reforming and then they’re back good as new.

l’ve not levelled them much though, I’ve a severe shortage of the right herbs. I feel like I must have missed somewhere good. I’ve got +11 weapons but only +1 summons.

today on my facebook it brought up a memory...a memory of a post id made sharing one Rllmukrs view on Demons souls, the original, it went like this -

"If there was a mirror you'd see one you great Jesse. - Great Jesse, my arse! Where a lot of people use bows & arrows, crossbows, and magic from a long way away where Mr Big Bad Boss can't get at them, I fight bosses up close and personal, tackle out, slashing away with my pointy sticks"... 😂

This is still true now with ER!

Re: summon spirits, yes you can't use them in multiplayer. And as for which is best, depends on the circumstance. You get plenty more as you go on, I've got 6 already. I've only levelled them all up once but just their distraction tactics alone are great for most fights. The only one that's pretty useless is the poor old mage zombie, he's ok for about 2 fights before becoming totally outclassed (maybe he's ok if you level him up). Wolves are best bois and great for big loads of enemies. I actually found the nobles good for a few fights because there's so many of them. Now I have some better summons I'm using but I won't spoil, suffice to say its always fun to choose the right ones for the job at hand!

Yeah my 12 year old nephew who is completely video game crazy hadn't even heard of it either. Weird.

I showed him some footage on YouTube and he said "Oh , it looks just like that Dead Souls game you used to play."

There’s a LOT in the base game. I’m 40 hours deep, been exploring constantly and am still finding new stuff all the time.

Nope, but there’s some in Stormveil where you can go now you’ve battered Margit. And after the next boss you can head to the place in my second link and get the item that lets you buy them and the second kind.

Just checked again using a better map. The one I was looking at had cut off the top middle. There’s an Elden Ring Wiki Interactive Map which is pretty cool, if anyone is interested. I’ve got 1 open world area left to uncover beyond Dectus, which requires an obvious item. No idea if there’s also a portal hidden away for it or not. Would be cool if there is!

One problem I’m finding with this, is that it’s really difficult to keep track of where you’ve been and what you’ve done. Pretty sure it would take 100s of hrs to find and complete everything and you’d need to use a guide.

The skeletons reforming is a bonus, but up against an Erdtree Avatar and switched to the doggo gank squad, who outlasted them and did more damage giving me the W. It's probably situational if they worthwhile.

I give it 10 years and then i'll watch a speed runner 100% it in 1 hour.

The fact it'll take them 10 years to find the bugged jumpy edge of world warp that enables them to pick everything up, powerup to 100%, kill all bosses And fly through some bricks.

is neither here nor there 😕

Why the hell would anyone read a guide on their first run through of a Miyazaki game?

The unknown is the fun.
