I'm at Carian Study Hall and I can't figure out how to get to the tower:

Have gone right to the top and can see some spiral stairs above me that may be able to be lowered down. There is a pedestal at the bottom that says it has a space for an item.

 

Any hints?

Explored a fair bit of Caelid tonight (and sub areas within). It's not that bad! Although I still avoid the giant enemy

and then I started wrecking it. But it saved me the trouble by backing off the cliff! Why bother killing it when it just kills itself?

Got to. Haven't even got to the castle. 

 

Double KO on Margit last night, didn't count. Gutted! I think it's because he died from poison a few seconds after I died, so the death animation hadn't finished. 

 

Next time he'll kill me again. Then he's mine.

I did get a bit confused that I couldn't equip it like armour or something, but the figured it might work like ashes of war and whaddya know! 

Yeah to be fair the only bits that actually threw me were the fact you have to equip from a site of grace (spent ages playing with the menus and status screen first before I thought of this) and the fact you need to use a rune arc. The item description for rune arc sort of makes it sound like it's optional and enhances the power of the rune, rather than being necessary for it to work at all.

Just a tiny part of the game, but the animation on the Tree Sentinel is incredible. The fluidity of movement as it attacks... it's just gorgeous.

This seems to be biggest mystery at the moment! Asked the same question a good while back and not sure if anyone answered (although thread moves so fast I may have missed it).

I’ve been playing offline as I’ve been using the widescreen hack, however the game wasn’t updating with the latest patch.

I’m not used to the messages everywhere, I find it really irritating lol. Back to offline play with a wider view!

 

I had an epic session yesterday, dual katanas rule! Took me about 20 attempts to kill

Black Knight on the hooded horse

to the south of the map was a pain, I was doing so well but he ended up killing my horse and once I was on foot he massacred me! 

Farther south there’s a castle with

A giant that shoots massive arrows at you. He was pretty easy. Inside the castle looks pretty scary though!

 

30+ hours and I’ve still not been back to Stormveil Castle! So much to see and do elsewhere!

For once I’m glad I clicked that spoiler, as I was puzzled by that dead end too.

 

Yesterday was the first day I thought “Actually maybe that’s enough Elden Ring for now”. But then I went to do some chores and had Limmy tackling Stormveil on in the background and ended up sitting back down and switching the fucking game on again!

 

Decided to look for mines on the map, and ended up finding what looks like another full area, or at least the run up to it:

Ruin-strewn Precipice

I’m at just the right level for it to be a struggle but achievable, which is the sweet spot for this game. Although somehow, even though I might have been a bit OP for Stormveil, it’s not like I didn’t struggle at times and die plenty. The Souls games seem to automatically counter the whole scaling or not question with open world games, as it’s always been inherent in the design that even the lowliest enemy (rats and dogs especially) can fuck you up if you play lazily. I never feel truly safe.

Found a really good spot to get a few levels into my stats. Easy as pie until one of your backstabs fails and you tap them on the shoulder - genuine panic mode as they turn around and prepare to one shot you.

Reddit seems to think it's borked. It applies a buff to your weapon then immediately disappears.
