Put this in the other thread, but meant to stick it in here. 10s of me killing a trash mob in the capital with the weapon art on my Halo scythe. It’s good, outranges my spells easily.

I bet there’s other better ones out there, what’s everyone else’s goto art?

Every single one I have either does fuck all damage or messes me up in a fight.

I don't use them. But I want that one.

I’ve finally got the Bloodhound Fang and while it’s a pretty imposing weapon, I feel it’s too slow for my playstyle as I’ve got so used to my Lordsworn’s Straight Sword that I’ve got to +5.

My question is will the Bloodhound Fang become any faster if I level it up or level my STR/DEX, or am I better off looking for a different sword?

Which leads me to my second question, which sword should I be looking for that scales well but is fast?

I’m worried about wasting any more smithing stones on upgrading my Lordsworn’s if there are better ones out there for the taking.

Attack animation speeds remain the same I believe.  I'm on the Lordsworn's too, upgraded to Quality variant +13 or so.  Tasty!

I've only been able to summon one NPC the entire game (before the margirit fight) I thought when I would interact with those wee statues it would give me an option. But it's never happened.

You need to use the Furlcalling Finger Remedy to see NPCs summons too. It’s not just pc summons.

So it’s worth just sticking with it and upgrading then? I’m honestly worried that I’ll pour all my smithing stones into it, then find something better that I won’t be able to upgrade!

Yeah been doing that.

Tried at least 40 times in my 50 hours. Weird.

So far so good for me.  I like the frequency of the attacks with this sword - it can stun lock plenty of enemies while still dishing out damage.

You can and should level up any weapon you like using.

I’ve levelled up my starter Long Sword to a Heavy Long Sword +15 and it does a lot of damage.

…also found enough Smithing Stones to level up a Hammer to +13. You’ll find more with more adventuring.

I've also got the lordsworns greatsword, +6 atm I think, but just got the claymore and was deliberating whether to switch, so the above is interesting.

The different movesets might be complimentary though, will have to see. Does the game have enough upgrade resources to allow a bit of diversity in your armaments or is it like DS1 where higher level upgarde material is super limited so you need to commit to one?

edit:

Ah, snap! :)

There’s plenty of smithing stones. I’ve got 3 +18 weapons and two +9 ones that take somber stones. From what you’re saying about your preferences though, sounds like you need a katana.

I’ve only found one top level slab equivalent so far. I’m saving it to see if I find more, but I think it will be like DS where one level off max is still pretty beefy.

Ranni’s questline completed

Spoiler

It was all a bit confusing, but from what I gather:

Blaidd was being mind controlled by the two fingers, who had created him to be Ranni’s guardian, to kill Ranni for going against them, but Blaidd was so loyal he couldn’t. However, the internal struggle did send him mad, which causes him to attack you when you return to Ranni’s rise. Killing him awards his full armour set and his great sword.

I then went and spoke to Iji, who had some dialogue about Ranni going on her journey and Blaidd having to be imprisoned but escaping (I guess just prior to me killing him). I then rested at the nearby grace and when I stood back up, there were loads of dead assassins lying around and Iji was dead, too, kneeling in the road and covered in black flames.

Now, I think the dagger you retrieve for Ranni gives her control of the assassins, and she sends them after Blaidd and Iji, for some reason?

I don’t know, it’s confusing!

You only need two Erdtree Flowers to create one, and they can be found more or less everywhere. They're a lot easier to come by than humanity or the idols from other Souls games.

Plus if you help someone beat a boss you get one too I think! (plus rune Arcs, very useful once you have some Elden runes)

Wish I’d known about that before I spent three hours fighting them.

What level are you now??  I'm still going through Stormvile castle at the moment with the same armour I started with and a Bloodhound Fang +2.

When I see all these white silhouettes going around with swanky armour and weapons I feel like I have missed out on a lot. I'm sure I have explored most places in Limgrave .

Lit 7 of 8 of the torches and feel like I've fully explored now and can't find the last bloody one. Even found another teleport on top of a crumbled building and it took me to Necron? Wandered around stumbled into this Dragonkin soldier who is massive and twatted me.  Rode Torrent to get my 15k runes. Stuck on his leg pressing Y desperately twatted again and dead.

I'm coming back for this twat later as wasn't doing much damage, but really want to activate the last torch on the stairs.  Help

It might be the same one I was desperate to find:

Spoiler

The last torch I found wasn’t guarded by the Bull Ghosts but by three of those balls of electricity…

104, four main bosses down and dozens and dozens of other bosses.  Think I’ve killed over 100 bosses, easy, but I’ve not been keeping count. There’s so, so many! Right now I’m using a +18 heavy great sword. Do about 1200 damage with a charge R2 hit.

What rings you got bithc??

What talismans is everyone using? Currently using (as have respecced to faith build for now) :

+5 faith

+ jumping attacks (I dual wield so do a lot of these, also have armour that boosts them)

Slow heal (swap this out for various things for bosses, usually the one that buffs stats but take more damage or the stamina regen turtle)
