I will watch that every time I come across it.

Aaaaargh is the Crucible Knight supposed to be impossible? He’s so hard to read. I’ve managed to get him down to 50% a couple of times after what feels like 50 attempts but he just needs to catch me once and then I’m just getting fucked up.

Still my favourite fight so far. My main problem was using a slower weapon so it was difficult to punish in second phase when the timing got tighter. Ended up parrying him to death which I think is the most effective strat.

If you can get your hands on a buckler, it has a better parry than other shields.

Lol, he is tough!

A couple of pointers

- you can jump over the stomp moves.

- if he does the two hand sword stomp, he does a two hit combo which is quite easy to parry the second hit

- in second phase he adds moves on the bed of most of his combos.

Took me a solid hour and a bit to best him. I'd just say go slow, use each attempt to learn more about his moves and how to dodge them. Forget about killing him.

I tried practising with partying when I started but the delay really messed with me. I’m trying to mix up blocking and dodging but the main problem is more actually damaging him quickly enough. His shield is rock.

Holy Fucking Marika @Curtis, you were not joking about M*****, B**** of M*******! Took me about 4 hours to get her down and was fighting a headache by the end as well! Have you got her yet?

Moonveil +10, Mimic+10 and a Level 140 character with 40 VIT and it was still a STRUGGLE. My flask improves stamina regen and improves damage negation. I have 65 INT (+5 from a talisman), and about 35 DEX. The bleeding effect of my katana does most of the work!

Video in spoilers.

Nice. I think my problem is just lvl of practice combined with a very fucking short fuse. I just need to relax and learn to embrace dying but it’s hard man. It’s hard

You need to keep your composure. When you die, it's your fault. The game isn't bullshit or fucking with you. Just take your time and learn it, before you know it you'll have him.

For parry timing, block attacks if you can, use the impact noises - that's the time you need to hit the button. 1...2...3! Etc.

Wait until they’re normal enemies and then you fight two boss versions at the same time!

When you lose 86k runes in one go and don’t care like I did earlier, you’ve reached a special kind of zen with the game.

Arghhh!

The Raya Lucaria Academy is giving me flashbacks to the Duke’s Archives. I wish I’d gone with a spellcaster build now. Melee makes it ridiculously hard.

edit: I can run past them and beat the boss (which was easy compared to the bog-standard enemies). More than one at a time is actually impossible.

Yeah i did it on the second attempt after my sleep.

Spoiler

My +25 Guardian Swordspear with 80 DEX and Sword Dance Art was hitting her for 4K damage while she was distracted by my Mimic, so the first phase its all about not getting hit by her wombo-combo. The second phase is easy assuming your mimic is still alive and you don't run into the left over Scarlet Rot bubble like in your video. Don't worry i did that too, but i have been using the 'O'Flame Cleanse Me' incantation since early game (its a godsend for the 12 Faith requirement) so i cured then healed.

Because i'm pure DEX, her sword and gear for fashion have made my build simply beautiful.

Hahah ok I’m just getting worse now. Think I’ll try somewhere else that will maybe build my confidence rather than shatter it. Two bloody hours and he just killed me without me getting one hit in!

Hahaha - for some reason I unequipped my cleansing miracle (law of regression) at some point when I was messing with a few spells. Have to say, big sword tends to work out better in my experience!

Not sure how you’re playing but going 2 handed, no shield is a good bet. His attacks are really easy to dodge and counter apart from the Dragon Tail he does when up close, after you’ve hit him. You can jump attack him between each of his combo hits if you time it right. You can also jump attack him after he does his floor scrape move. Also, make sure you’ve upgraded your flasks and health refill amount as it makes a big difference.

Just taken down DSON. Another fun boss fight. Went down in a couple of goes. Enjoying exploring again! :)

PSA for Radahn:

Holy shit, I just stumbled across a huge cheese for this absolute fucking arsehole entirely by accident as I was trying anything and everything on him in the vain hope that something would miraculously get me past this massive obstacle, and lo and behold I managed to completely skip the second phase of the fight. Never fist-pumped so hard in my life. :omg:

Do the following:

  Reveal hidden contents

You need the Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War, which can be obtained from an invisible scarab in the pool of water south-east of Caria Manor.

Just spam this on Radahn and it'll fuck him up completely and utterly. He didn't even have a chance to transition to his second phase because when he knelt down in preparation for it I just kept hitting him with it and it wiped out the second half of his health bar in seconds and killed him before he could even get up. :hat:

Just tipped past the 100 hour mark in this peerless Miyazaki masterpiece too. Onwards!

Not quite foolproof enough to be classed as a cheese, I don't think ... Tried this about 10 times so far and although I can get him down to about 1/3 health I haven't quite finished him off yet.

Can't stop him transforming yet either - and once he does, I'm basically dead because as soon as he crashes down I'm basically insta-killed every time !

The Swordspear has the best overall base* attack power for any DEX weapon when you upgrade to Keen with 'A' scaling. Its fast and has an amazing moveset with decent reach. Highly recommended. I'm lucky i got a drop about 10 hours into the game. I then built my stats around it. Worked out wonderfully and ive been using it for 100+ hours and still happy.

*Not taking into account OP Bleed builds etc.

And thats the western half of weeping peninsula just about clear. Just need to polish off the local everjail. Would have done already but a DWM crash booted me out of the game midfight - think that is just due to me needing a controller firmware update though, fingers crossed it never happens during a proper boss.

I did find a cave with

Spoiler

every poisonous critter I've met so far, and a poison river. Oh, and a whole seperate valley with about 5 of those giant poison flowers. My gpu did not like the amount of particles they were puffing out, and nor did my healthbar.

Thanks for all the pep talks but I’m going to leave this for a few days and play something else I think. Come back to it with a fresh mind. For all the talk of being more approachable this feels waaay harder than Bloodborne and I need to play something that doesn’t relish kicking my arse. I love it so much but I feel like I’ve hit an impenetrable wall and all the talk of later bosses being much harder is worrying.

10/10 game, but I am a 3/10 gamer I think :)

I believe Ashes of War damage scales with weapon level, so making sure you’ve put it on a suitably upgraded armament should increase its damage.

I also think that as it’s effectively a projectile attack it may well scale off Intelligence too, but I’m not sure on that. I’m running a sorcery build and had about 40 Intelligence when I beat him, so that may have contributed to how easily he fell for me when using it.

Quick q:

I assume the flask of wonderous physick allows you to swap out combo items the same as with ashes, that is that nothing ever gets 'consumed', just you can only assign so much at once? Getting to the point where I have enough items for it now that I should probably make use of it.

Weapon Arts that have build up effects like Frostbite increase in line with the level of your weapon upgrade.

So a +15 weapon might inflict 95, but a +20 weapon will do 110 etc.

You can see the incremental increase at the Blacksmith preview.

You should be using it once per rest/death - ideally on bosses or tough enemies. You can make loads of different combos with the ingredients you find. I personally go with + strength and a heal over time.

The sword was only a +11 claymore, so maybe that’s why it seemed a bit less potent. Still pretty potent mind. Got him eventually. I knew whinging in here always works to beat a boss!
