I've not read any posts in here for days, I don't want to.  But the fucking hype is seeping out.  Stay strong brothers.  We're almost there.  See you on the other side etc.

Just think of the crow at the end of that Pruld video.  Thats basically what the inside of my head is like.

Hopefully yours has progressed now but, FYI, my order did indeed have a problem with the payment card, as I guessed.

Fortunately The Game Collection promptly sorted it out, cancelling my preorder and crediting me some reward points so I could reorder at the same price. This has also allowed me to switch to the PS5 version for the same price, rather than messing about with upgrades. Hopefully it'll head out today. (Edit: breaking news - now processing!)

In case it helps anyone in the future, the reason my card didn't work is that there's a change in the law for how card payments are authenticated and I think my preauthorisation, with my old expiry date, was no longer sufficient. Might be worth bearing in mind if anyone else has any longstanding preorders in the pipe.

Thanks, checked and it looks like mine has shipped! So exciting!

Just bought a new controller so I don't have to stop and wait 2 hours for my one to charge! Yes I am that excited, I spent 2 solid years playing Dark Souls 3. Unfortunately I have plans for the next 4 weekends so I'm not going to get to play as much as I'd like, I might have to book a few more cheeky days off work.

Still can't decide between PC and PS4 version.

If I get the PS4 version, will I have to re-buy it when I inevitably upgrade to a PS5 (if they are ever available to buy?)

No, you can upgrade it to PS5 version for free. It actually gives you better options, given what is currently known about running at a locked 60FPS.

Why you should all join me and play a Wretch on your first play-through:

See, this idea appeals to me in theory, like those later Metal Gear Solid V missions where you go in without any kit, or more fitting is Breath of the Wild where you start in pants and arm yourself with a tree branch, but I'm somewhat concerned that I'd be utterly trounced once I reached the first boss. What if you're forced to endure 10 hours of searching for equipment and grinding levels? I wouldn't want to sour my experience with frustration. 2011 sticks in my mind where I spent a ridiculous number of hours in Undead Burg grinding just to beat Taurus Demon and that was without being the Deprived class. In retrospect it really was an insane way to play the game. Saying all that, I'm still tempted, but it's a gamble.

Counterpoints:

- You don’t have to fight any big boss until you’re ready. Go explore, find stuff, and slowly drag yourself out of the muck into a capable combatant.

- If it’s not working early doors just start again.

- 10 hours is nothing in a game you’ll put hundreds into.

I guess unlike Dark Souls it looks like there's considerably more places to explore before hitting that first tough mainline boss. I'm not sure I agree with the youtuber that you'd stick with the starting outfits because they look cool. I fully expect (hope) there to be much better gear hidden out there...

Agree that’s not great reasoning. But that hardscrabble roleplaying focused start for the Wretch, where every item found in the early game is like mana from heaven, is what really appeals.

The confessor class looks like it could be a halfway house. On the Redbull thing the guy that picked the class said he wanted to try it because as well as it having healing and stealth magic, it also meant that he could use the stuff he found early on.

I’m a noob to all of this, but have watched a few videos on classes.
