First time I’ve played a Souls game and the message system is working as it should. Left a few tips for people and getting lots of appraisals, so being healed constantly. Makes a massive difference. Really, really cool idea!

I did not know this!  Wondered why I was getting healed for nowt every so often.

Knowing this, I'm definitely going to appraise more messages so others can get free heals. Saw a great one next to a doubled over corpse:

Praise the rump!

Totally agree - and it even shows you on the map which way to go.

Did you follow the arrows? Did they lead you to a...

Is the only way to summon to go into menu and click use? I can't see a way to quick equip it.

(I mean the summons in game not online)

You can set it to quick equip so that u can select it using down on the dpad. x will use it. Just remember to hit down again to go back to that healing flask.

Bought this earlier today, got to play about 40 min. I read somewhere about a tutorial but I must have missed it somehow? Some corridors, then the open world and a guy on a horse that beat the crap out of me in about 6.5 seconds. 😄

From the starting building if you follow the ghost in the chair's advice and drop down into the cave, that's your tutorial - definitely recommend heading back there as there's a lot to learn.

Head back into the Cave of Knowledge (where you spawned) and go down the hole next to the ghost in the chair.

I want to know this as well in case, just in case.

I think you  have to use an item to see the signs from other players. The broken church vendors sells them or you can craft them.

If you want to summon NPCs you need to look for a shrine thing to do (looks like message symbol on a little spike)

A good few hours and not pushed the castle yet - done about 6 mini dungeons in the area and think everywhere else looks to be too tough (even though I've levelled a lot). Time to progress maybe

Margit, Marshit more like

I think I’m too slow to beat him right now. Not entirely sure how to avoid his attacks, I just get clobbered.

Spoilers for something else

Spoiler

A vendor I met sold an item that binds that character to the ground. (I've not been to the boss yet).

It's

Spoiler

Patches if you let him open his store after wailing on him.

He can be found

Spoiler

In a cave off the river bed just north of the lake/bridge

Hmmmm, the stealth is fun but pretty shonky. I’ve just taken down an entire camp, only the AI is exactly the same as the old games........in other words it only triggers an enemy when you enter their target area. Which means you can walk in front of enemies that are looking straight at you whilst backstabbing their pals and they do fuck all. Lol. Fells massively dated in comparison to most games these days. I’m also just jump attacking everything that does spot me and breezing through stuff atm.

Margit, right?

That seems another level of Souls obfuscation to me. At least I don't remember being guided to anywhere quite as difficult right off the bat in the other From games I've played.

What is the way the game points you? I didn't really notice being pointed except that someone mentions going towards a castle on a cliff. I did so , and didn't get to someone called what you said? I got to the ...

Gatefront, and got given the item that gives me the horse. Then I rode the horse up a really long path that's obviously designed to be rode up because the enemies would have been too hard for me to fight my way up. And got to Castleward Tunnel.

Is this what you guys are considering the "on-piste" route?

Lock on then keep walking backwards. Counter his attacks when you get a clear opening. Be methodical and don’t rush.

At each Grace point you can see the "flow" of grace pointing you in the direction of the next "main objective".

It's also on the map

Spent over 5 hours on it now and I can tell there are going to be some very late nights in the coming weeks with this. I've just been exploring, trying and failing different routes, and have barely touched the mechanics of the game - just been running around two handed weapon.

I still don't rate the music, in fact it seems a tad overscored to me - to the point that I'm thinking of killing the music slider. There is hardly any moments of silence that amplify the true terror moments - shame

Bosses appear nails hard at the moment - probably a bit more grinding to do first.

Is this a bug though? - I thought I was going out of my mind with my inventory to my storage chest - it seems that some items just don't do it, even though they let you do it. Confusing. I'm still not cool however with killing digital animals and wildlife in order to obtain crafting items.

Wow this is really something isn't it. Just exploring the world finding little caves and then venturing back on the main path, getting distracted so easily, finding the odd NPC and we're only just scratching the surface! I feel the Samurai may be a bit too easy a build, the Uchi is so good and once you pair it with a 100% block shield I can kill most things with ease. Looking forward to playing more tomorrow got to try not to get too drunk this evening so I'm not terribly hung over. Take it all in and enjoy everyone, this is amazing.

You get an item - Furlcalling Finger Remedy (which can be crafted with Erdleaf Flowers) to reveal Summon Signs. Simply interact with a sign to summon another player into your world, but pay close attention to its color. If the sign is gold, you are inviting a friendly ally, but if it is red, you are challenging another player to a duel.

It’s worth pointing out they’ll most likely be near bosses - players choose where to drop their summon sign so they’re unlikely to do so in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks, so I have to use an item to see the summon signs.  How long does the item last for when you use it?

Can I cast it once and its there until I quit out or die?

Yes me too.

Silly question but I’ve started as an astrologer and when I get to a shop I can buy chainmail. I guess I can wear anything and is there any way to see the increase or penalties that the armour will make to my stats before I buy it? I couldn’t seem to see it in the display.

Are the bloodstains not working for everybody else? It seems to be a common issue.

Yes. Not had a single one work. Always seems to happen.

I'm trying to do some work but all I can think about is this and what I might/could do next. It's overwhelming.

I think some levelling then follow the path from the soldier camp up to the castle as I noped out of there early last night and wandered off to see so many wonders for five hours. Just wow. :)

Character pic to come @Dark Soldier.
