What are the hardware specs of your PC, if you don't mind me asking?

Not at all! I've got the following setup which was from a brand new build of mine early last year:

Intel Hex Core i7 7800X Skylake-X 6 Core (3.5GHz)

Asus Prime X299-A

Corsair 16GB DDR4 LPX 3200MHz

ASUS ROG STRIX GeForce RTX 2070

Samsung 970 Evo Plus 1TB M.2

EVGA 850 Watt GQ Gold

I also decided to go for a 2K resolution monitor (ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q 27 Inch) as I got more specs for the price and even now with the Super series of RTX cards, games struggle to do 60FPS on Ultra settings in native 4K. So I'm targeting 2K resolution and as such, get more bang for buck. Thought process is, when the GPU's catch up to 4K in a few years time, my next build will be with an ouput of 4K in mind, as everyone else is chasing 6K or 8K!

Thank you very much! I'm looking for a new PC, and I'm trying to figure out what's needed to play this comfortably (also at 2K for me). That's quite a hefty system you've got there, I'll see if I can find something similar. 8-)

Nice!

It's alwasy fun saving up and then getting a PC just right for you. Overspend and you're overpaying for stuff that's of limited benefit but if you're sensible, you can get some great tech for a somewhat more modest price. My big choice was going M.2 only for storage, so that required specific Motherboards, but I felt the market was moving to faster read / write speeds so was worth it. Soon after, Sony announced the PS5 was going to be using simular tech for their game loading, so I think I chose good to future proof myself! The other big option was GPU. The 2080ti would have been insane so I stayed clear but the 2070 felt like a real good compromise between price and power.

Let us know how you get along, it's worth it to play this. :)

Well, I've been having my eye on a PC with these specs:

ASUS ROG STRIX X570-E

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3,6 GHz (4,2 GHz Turbo Boost)

GIGABYTE NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER WINDFORCE OC

Kingston A2000, 500 GB SSD M.2 & 1TB SATA HDD

Kingston 16GB DDR4 (2666 MHz)

And comparing those with your specs, it seems that they're rather similar (with yours having the upper hand obviously). They're offering it pre-built for €1199. I think that's a very sharp price, isn't it?

I could always add an extra 1TB SSD myself, right?

That looks a really nice setup and pre-built for €1.2K seems reasonable @Meers although if you pick up the parts yourself, you could probally get one or two hundred Euros off if you fancied building it yourself?

I've never really built a full PC myself, but how hard can it be, right?

I'll shop around for the individual parts to see if I can save a bit of money. Just need to get this game (and a couple of sim racing games) to run properly. :o

I have more or less the same spec as this (just with a 3600X, 2060 Super, 1TB M.2 and 32GB RAM) and I think I paid around 1300 EUR for the parts to build it myself in April. So for prebuilt, that doesn’t sound too bad!

And yeah, you should be able to stick an extra SATA SSD in yourself easily.

did a quick  flight earlier while the storm was raging outside from here (Belfast) to Dublin. Zero visibility until about 12'000 feet - made the landing at Dublin interesting to say the least - but did it (well a couple of bumps) and taxied successfully in to the bay

Only counts if you finish by rolling into the side of a building!

Had a quick fly around London and whilst I do appreciate OrbX's additions I purchased, the choice of what they've added and what they've ignored is bizarre. They've modelled my old office building next to the tower of london, they've also modelled something as small as the Albert Memorial, but they couldn't be bothered with the natural history museum? It is pretty iconic! Instead we get... um... well...

I'm blaming the AI for this one. How does such a grandiose building / roof deserve to be made into what looks like an Amazon distribution centre

Bing really need to add some photogrammetry to a few choice cities.

Southampton is the only UK city that has it. Fortunately it should be straight forward to have the game updated whenever Bing Maps adds more cities.

Another successful flight, definitely got to grips with basics of instrument flying now, managed to sort out my take off and ascent (helped massively reducing vertical sensitivity on my pad, well worth doing). Managed to choose a destination with no ILS though so again failed to try a proper autopilot approach. Next time.

One of the great things about this game has been the added visibility afforded to Squirrel. I used to put his Euro Truck runs on while cooking and found them really charming. I think there's only him and Jorbs who have managed to master streaming and not being annoying.

He has a really soothing voice as well. A bit like ObsidianAnt, who I also follow.

I'm always trying to figure out what part of the UK someone's from judging by their accent, as sort of a trivia game thing... So with Squirrel I can hear some scraping "back of the throat - G's"...so that would probably indicate he's from Liverpool? He's trying to surpress it I think?

With ObsidianAnt, I have no clue. Mordor?

I had him down as Warrington, Runcorn, that neck of the woods. No idea though. He's not scouse, or if he is he escaped quickly enough.

Fairly close then! :D

So what's wrong with being a Scouser?

It’s a shame the game is so buggy. I just set out a nice flight, had the approach charts to understand my perfect glide path in, etc. Then the game stopped responding to mouse clicks on the instruments, so I couldn’t adjust the autopilot descent, it was stuck holding at 2200ft. Literally had to fight the autopilot for the whole descent (still sticking to my descent glide!) as it tried to launch me in to the sky like a rocket.

Still. I read an actual airport approach document this evening, and actually understood some of it. Love it.

I referenced this at work today.

Just done my first leg of the breckenridge->yosemite bush trip. Once I realised that I've turned aircraft stress on, and sorted out my speed, it's so relaxing just pootling along looking at the river / road / mountains. Not sure I'll ever finish all 30 legs though.

NVidia are revealing their 3000 series cards imminently, like next week I think? Might be worth bearing that in mind. If it's a revolutionary upgrade there could be a load of decent second hand cards available soon (or if you're really willing to splurge for the new cards, you might get 4k ultra at good frame rates!)

I'm drooling at some of the pics and videos here, and planning a pc update myself

So is there anyone in here willing to part ways with their old 2080TI? :eyebrows:

2080TI is soooooo old hat.

Twenty crisp notes being offered here if anyone wants rid of theirs. I might go to £25 if you still have the box.
