you get the feeling that newcastle away is a softener, for games 3 and 4.

gauging the strength of Arsenals squad before throwing them to the metaphoricals...

Still, SkySports gotta have their Super Sunday, right?

I never got the fascination with the 'big teams' coming to visit. When I had a season ticket the amount of times I'd get asked if I had any spares would go up dramatically if we were playing Liverpool or Man Utd (etc) and I just didn't get why. It wasn't glory hunting Brummie reds trying to sneak in but Villa fans who seemed more interested in the opposition than the Villa. I wouldn't expect us to get much out of those games against the clubs who have ten times our budget but people will be queuing up to see us lose.

Wolves is slightly different as it's a local derby, albeit a secondary one from their point of view and a tertiary one from ours but I'm sure the ticket office still get more enquiries than usual about that fixture.

I'll be taking my son to a few games this season and will probably be choosing the ones I think we might actually win. Fuck seeing Man City turn up and beat us at a canter during his first season as a fan.

You get to see some quality players and your team isn't necessarily going to get reamed, I remember seeing Everton v Chelsea (0-0, Dec 2017) it wasn't a terrible game but despite the scoreline they really were a noticeably better team and you had to appreciate the comparative quality of passing alone, never mind Hazard who was exceptional and I'll likely only ever seem him again on TV. Whereas an experience of a win vs Burnley only included seeing Joey Barton clog about in what I think was his last away match appearance before being banned forever, notable but not quite the same really is it.

At least Luis Suarez won't be playing.  Apparently something like 15% of his entire goal output for Liverpool was against Norwich, and he only played against them five times.

Villa getting work done early, looking like a club record deal for Wesley Moraes who is a Brazilian centre forward from Brugges. I don't know much about him other than it basically confirms Tammy Abraham is staying at Chelsea.

Just a quick heads up for anyone that bought the season pass thing on NowTV last year - they set it to auto renew on a monthly basis, and I've been stung for £34. My missus will be ringing up and screaming bloody murder so hopefully we'll get it back.

Dunno about a sub, broadcasting every match from a single round of fixtures seems like a "statement" from Amazon rather than trying to maximise their return on investment, I'd think they are doing it for the publicity before looking to move towards becoming a bigger player over the next couple of seasons.  If that's the case then maybe they just let people buy the games they want à la carte.

For those who don't have it, don't Prime usually do a freebie around Xmas anyways.

Must be a duel stream on a few matches because I cant see them not showing anything on Sky on Boxing day!

Amazon will have their marketing in place for this already, they'll throw out Prime trials left right and centre in the build up.

Amazon aren’t silly - this means lots of people will get Prime for December, and then be more likely to then buy all their Christmas presents on Amazon too.

Presumably they can shape your recommendations on Amazon based on your viewing habits, too. Two full sets of games should let them work out which team you support.

As a neutral who is never realistically going to pay for Sky or BT Sport, I’m quite looking forward to it. Some decent fixtures there.

I didn’t see the original foul but the retake was because the goalkeeper was off her line when the ball was kicked. A rule change this season means they now have to have at least one foot on the line when the kick is taken and thanks to VAR something that the ref would let slide in the past will now always be penalised.

As it should be. Can’t have goalies closer to the penalty spot then the goal line. Unless you’re Jerzy Dudek of course!

Rewatched that today, he’s practically out the six-yard box when the Milan players take their kicks :)

England Argentina now in a match the Lionesses should win comfortably... so a nervy 1-0 awaits then.

Out of interest, who’s doing the co-comms in the UK? World feed just has the one commentator per game with no sidekick.

England dominating so far, just lacking in the final third.

Sue Smith is alongside Jonathan 'VAR is the Worst' Pearce.

He also keeps mentioning the men's game during comms, he needs to stop that... or just stop commentating in general.
