If you want? But that's not what I said...

Merely the whole media hoohaa around this particular actress is because disney specifically drew attention to it, and then it's just a vicious cycle. Racists gonna racist, activists gonna activate. Calling your whole fanbase racist in public, in a pre-emptive PR statement is a bloody terrible move, and just invites the racists and wack jobs on both sides.

Nah there was definitely racist abuse of her as soon as episode one aired (and probably before). To say Disney have somehow started it is a bit bizarre.

Was there ever much racism regarding Billy Dee Williams? I mean, he's always just been Lando to me, but I assume he had his fair share?

I was expecting the fight with Vader to be a bit more awesome - this is before Rogue One, the ultimate Vader moment.  Is he still getting to grips with his suit?

Enjoyed it though.  Child Leia is absolutely fine... the barrier didn't bother me either.  I assumed Obi Wan switched the barrier off as there was no one around to operate it and it would open up the road for anyone else... I figured it was pretty obvious.

Disney responded after the actress revealed the shit she was getting online in an interview. They were responding on her behalf because of the shit she was already getting.

There’s two possible answers to that, and one, both, or none could be right. It depends on how cute Filoni and Favreau have been here, because Vader wielded his saber one-handed in ESB, which Kirschner had him do as a sign of contempt for novice Luke’s skill level (Lucas was furious about this apparently). In this his intent wasn’t to kill Obi-Wan, and since he’d already said out loud how weak Obi-Wan had become, I presume this was a similar level of taunting.

Secondly, I think there was some lore (maybe in the comics) that Palpatine deliberately made the suit cumbersome/painful.

Yeah felt very much like he was toying with Obi-Wan. I much prefer this style of battle than the flippy stuff in the prequels. Has a weight to it that you only really feel in the original trilogy battles.

No, she said Disney had "prepped" her for the abuse she'll most likely get, and they were there to support her.

Funny how things get warped in the mix isn't it...

No, she said she had been prepped as she revealed the stuff she'd been sent. Disney tweeted afterwards.

Haha Bounding into Comics is a sweaty incel alt-right woman hating training site for future spree killers who dress up as the Joker.

Moses Ingram getting personal hate messages is not some conspiracy nonsense manufactured by their employer. Lol. Imagine.

I have a theory about Vader and I'm not sure it's on purpose but I totally bought the quarry scene, the terrifying start and the weak end.

And it's similar to Vader in other movies.

Vader is the Sith version of a lot of predators. Like a force enabled crocodile.

Hear me out. You see him at the end of Rogue One and he's terrifying, a whirlwind throwing people here and there in an effortless fashion. Then by A New Hope, literally minutes later he's moved to a slow stride. The stormtroopers doing most of the work,

Now a lot of that is to do with what they could do with effects now verses the late 70's, but what if they're leaning into this now?

At the start of his search for Obi he's brutally killing and maiming people left and right. He's using projection and then he's fighting one handed. But by the time he gets Obi where he wants him he seems to be slowing down. The dragging across the ground feels a lot slower and weaker.

Like a crocodile, if you're near him when he's well rested you're fucked but if you can get some distance you can wear him down. His injuries look extensive and painful, I totally buy Darth as someone still getting used to working with his injuries, lashing out left and right in pain until he runs out of steam. Note, I'm not across extended universe stuff. But there's an interesting balance. Darth still on top of his game with the 'saber and force powers but in incredibly bad health. Obi being out of form but in better health and with more endurance.

Obviously I'm enjoying it. Loving the acting as well.

Alright, ok ok guys! I'll admit defeat on this one (slightly haha).

I still think Disney should have played that a bit smarter, because no shit, anyone that isn't a white straight male, WILL get some shit on the internet regardless of what they do. I'm just trying to view the community positively, and that people (most people) aren't just gonna lynch someone because of their race or gender, and there, IMO is legitimate criticism to be levied at this character, and other characters "of colour", and I don't want it to be a defence shield if Disney, or whoever else doles out some shit writing, and hides behind discrimination.

But yeah, ok, I had a think, read your replies. I will retreat

You could have just said you were wrong, but oh no, you just couldn't help yourself ... you just had to add "they realised their writing is shit, and so pulled the race card to hide behind". Fucking hell...

just boring imo.

Well coincidentally, I find people moaning that Star Wars isn’t being the strong-man power fantasy they want it to be pretty boring too. Especially when it’s never been that.

Even in Return of the Jedi, when Luke comes closest to being “a badass” he realises that’s not how he wins and throws his lightsaber away.

C'mon mate, really? The writing is shit, she IS shit...so far, though I think we all see where her story arc is going. Why are you trying to bust my chops for that opinion? I "fear" that's the narrative that is coming out, hence my previous posts. You are mis interpreting me, and it's not appreciated. I didn't *say* they think they're writing is shit so they're hiding behind the race card. I said, my whole reason for posting was because I feared that, and I took (most) of it back, and there you are, still attacking. Jesus christ, sorry for having a different viewpoint and then trying to listen and learn from other people.

You are the one who came in here spouting absolute shite about Disney somehow causing the racism. You also equated activists with racists and said there were 'wackos' on both sides. Whilst also citing some alt right bullshit site as your source.

that just underlines how much of a badass he is though. He is so strong he refuses to do the emperors bidding. Absolute hero.

strength and heroism does not need to be physical ….. Obi wan in anh is a great example of this….
