Good bosses:

The first boss in R-type. Even though it only takes about 5 seconds to kill, it was one of the first games I played with end of level bosses in. I remember seeing it on all the box art and thinking it looked cool months before I finally played the game.

Splatterhouse, can't remember what level but the boss is just a room full of giant leeches. Thousands of them. Ikk!

That massive red thing at the end of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.

Bad bosses:

Michizane in Otogi. You can fall off the platforms : instant death. He can knock you back about 50ft so it's impossible to fly back to the platforms in time : instant death. He can blow up the platforms you stand on : instant death. He can...

One of my favourites is the column eating thing at the end of the second level in Metal Slug 2 (the level with the mummies). Doesn't give me any grief these days, but still, it's very well done.

Most of the Metal Slug bosses are good though B) .

Exactly the guy i thought of when i saw the title of this thread. I just cannot beat him. I was really enjoying the game up until this stage but he is just too tough for my puny skills.

It seems like a horribly cheap - and unnessecary ending to an otherwise great game.

I finished Metal Arms last night and rather liked the way it plays with the usual final Boss conventions. It's also funny as well as being quite tough.

Awww man, you've missed out on some hum-dingers: giant moth, giant spider, a weird horse thing, a huge mutant plant, to name but a few. Theres even a cameo appearence from a couple of Gunstar Heros favourites
