So not making it compatible on the latest brand new Apple TV running the newest operating system seems a tad egregious and goes against the whole ethos of the service. it’s just one game but it would be great to be able to play it natively via the ATV. 

That doesn’t say all games are available on all platforms though?

I’ve been playing The Oregon Trail loads on Apple Arcade. It’s an odd little game, it’s basically just inventory management and luck of the dice as you attempt to get a bunch of pioneers across the US, but I found it strangely compelling.

The 2nd one caught me out, took me a few seconds to realise the correct answer. However, since then there have been a few optional ones that I quit on... Seems I've let my brain rest for too long, I used to storm through this kind of thing! 

 

Alternative hypothesis: There is a certain mindset required for Layton games that neither of us have developed yet. I think I'll go with that as the reason.

I never quite had the massive love for Zoo Keeper back when it came out - giving it a go again this morning. 

 

Can't quite describe why but the slide to swap mechanic doesn't feel smooth enough, its like when you use somebodies Android device having got used to iOS for years - it's not my phone as that is fine.

 

I'm also finding the zoo editor quite clunky and unappealing to use.

The slide mechanic is beautiful to me. Feels like you’re dragging something mechanical and weighty, rather than a 60fps virtual sweet.

 

The zoo building seems pointless so far though.

I’m enjoying Zoo Keeper, great memories of the DS version.

The downside is (at least so far) there doesn’t seem to be a quick play style endless mode, it’s all mission based so far with specific puzzles to clear.

 

Also, very obvious that it was designed as a free to play game and had all the micro transactions yanked out.

I've not reached it myself, but in the rank rewards it shows you unlock an Arcade Machine at Zoo rank 5. I think that may unlock a regular err... arcade mode?

You’re right, I unlocked it but never tried it till now.

It’s a timed score attack mode, pretty good but it’s definitely a side thing and the bulk of the game is the progression.

I went through the tutorial wondering if I was missing something, but it's exactly as deKay describes. Really boring.

Conversely, I liked wurdweb more than Scrabble because it’s much less stressful to manage word placement rather than letters, and there are a number of rules that and game modes that keep things interesting. Trying to fit words between other words you’ve placed previously like this:

 

    MUSHROOM
    A  
  FIREBALL
    I
    O

 

is a good brain-training-like challenge as well. Relatively trivial in Scrabble, but much more difficult when you have to fit unmodifiable words.
