Noita - Game Of All Time

Looks amazing. I wish it had more of an Exile aesthetic, as I don’t care about wizards and the whole idea of the game is so close to my notional perfect game that tiny stuff like whether the game is about spacemen or wizards really starts to matter.

Presumably there’s no chance of this coming out on current-gen consoles given the CPU-heavy nature of the simulation?

I think the plan is that the success of this version will fund ports to consoles. The min specs aren't that crazy; Duel-Core processor, 4 Gig of ram - so it should be possible to get it over relitively well, even possibly to the Switch.

...

I just found out that all areas are connected so you could theoretically dig into the end of level room or the next level rather than using the portal. That's pretty impressive!

Really enjoying this so far, it's scratching the same itch that Caveblazers did for a while, except with some of the variety replaced by ALL THE LIQUIDS.  There's something special about the way the unpredictability of everything is both enchanting and annoying, fair and unfair, all at the same time.

I like the idea of the wands in principle (and have found a pleasing range of them, I'm going to miss the awesome bouncy ball gatling gun that recently got me several biomes further than I ever had before, until I got completely swamped by about 4 gangs of those jetpack dudes), but the whole customising thing isn't quite clicking with me yet.  I find the stats a bit overwhelming, can't really see myself combining several spells in one wand (are you even really meant to do that?), and the effects don't seem to stack in the way I'd expect.  Oh, and crazy things like rainclouds are all very well, but I can't really see myself equipping one on purpose.  Love the teleportation spell!  I need to learn to actually use spells with a finite number of charges, although to be fair hoarding things like that is a common affliction for anyone playing an RPG.

This looks incredible - although I’d rather this tech were incidental, than the entire gimmick of the game, if that makes sense? It’s only a matter of time before these sort of physics are standard in big 3D games too.

Some guy has been working on a 3D voxel engine for a while now. Sorry, can't  remember where I saw it but the FPS demo with full destructiblity was incredible.

This looks ace so I'll be trying it later..

Right, I've just had the most ridiculous run on this, and I hope they don't tweak this because its lunacy is off the chart.

Spoiler

So three levels deep I end up taking Teleportisis - every time you take damage, you teleport. When you're soaked in toxic sludge you take damage every couple of seconds until you can wash it off (I guess) so for a while I'm full-on Warioware, until...

...I teleport into an enclosed area of water.

So now I'm clean but drowning, and against the clock.  Manage to blow myself out. Phew, respite.

Not much. Forgot I had Teleportosis. First shot that hits me and we're on the move again.

End up getting way further than usual and am crazy underpowered, but just searching for the exit and lucking out. At one point I take damage in the hub post ceiling collapse, and come to the wrong side of the exit so have to bomb myself out.

Eventually killed - the world after The Vault.

This is, forgive me Spelunky, super-Spelunky.
