Gotters
Well that's the Morning Show season 2 finished, my other half liked it but she watches endless Greys Anatomy which the Morning Show seems about on a par with for me. I have to say the second season was a steaming pile of shite. I agree with so much of this and it's a far more eloquent take than my pile-o-shite view https://www.npr.org/2021/11/19/1056800768/the-morning-show-finale-recap-sweating-it-out-with-americas-sweetheart?t=1637407547310

footle
I’m pretty sure, 7 episodes in, that Swagger is shitting all over everything else I’m watching at the moment. The wheel of time (expected, it’s pulp fiction) morning show (expected, only elevated by the case), Hawkeye (expected, though I’m enjoying it), Succession (wtf - not expected at all, and episode to episode it’s probably better). Though it only really has taken properly off in Episode 7. But hell, it’s one great episode.

Was a bit behind on this, and when I read these comments at the time I thought it was a bit harsh. Oh boy, the second half of the season is pretty atrocious. So many terrible bits Spoiler Reese Witherspoons' brother hamming it up and turning up to the office The entire episode when Rachel went to Italy The bit where he said he loved her Chip I really hope Steve Carrell asked to be killed off.

Graham S
I thought CODA was a pretty good example of a heartwarming / inspirational family film (with some swearing / sexual situations), about a child with deaf parents who wants to go to music school. In form it's exactly as you'd expect, but it's got good people in it and I found it moving (disclaimer, my own child has recently gone away to college so I'm vulnerable to having my heart warmed). It's got Marlee Martin (West Wing / Children of a Lesser God) and I'll see her in anything.

PeteJ
I've signed up to AppleTV recently to watch Ted Lasso. Loving it, one of the best new shows I've seen in ages. But beyond Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest, is there anything else worth watching on this service that I can't already get on Netflix/ Amazon/ Disney? ZOK
Also, there is loads of classic Charlie Brown on there…no idea if you can get them elsewhere, but all of them worth watching.

Some relationship and political stuff around the sports: it’s very good, though journey not destination).

Same, we started watching it just to see how they handled such an interesting concept (like, honestly who would greenlight a big budget TV series with this premise!?) and were instantly hooked. Absolutely brilliant.

Gigawatt
I’d recommend watching the first series of The Morning Show. And do not watch the second series of The Morning Show.

I fell into the trap and started series 2...mmm it's like a totally different show. Will probably stick with it to the end just to keep up with it. My favourite thing on Apple TV is Trying so I recommend that. It is warm, funny, and sweet and sometimes that is all you need... As a bonus, both of the current two series are as good as each other which was not my experience of Ted Lasso as, despite really enjoying the first series, I thought the second was poor so won't be bothering with the third. First series of The Morning Show was excellent too.
Grobbelboy
Controversial opinion: Trying is a better feel good series than Ted Lasso. The latter can get a bit too sacharine at times and Trying has two actually good seasons.
Rain Birds
The Tragedy of Macbeth went up yesterday and I thought it was beautiful - Shakespeare noir via German Expressionism. Zio
I haven't seen anyone here mention Schmigadoon! I can understand that, as I thought I'd absolutely fucking hate it, but the missus made me watch it with her and it's genuinely amazing! Definitely worth a watch. I hate musicals, but I really enjoyed this.

Silent Runner
First three parts of this are out and it looks decent. Anyone watched it? Murder-mystery/drama/comedy thing from Lord and Millar. It has Stath from Stath Lets Flats in it.
