Really, only 60-70? Blimey. The first-person viewpoint should assist the game engine compared to the current floating camera which sees all though?

Not sure there's much of a difference beyond not having to render the Hitman, likely massively offset by the wider FOV. In all likelihood they're going to have to turn off all shinies, drop the resolution and use all the temporal reproject tricks they can muster to get it running in VR.

Glad it's still coming out on the PS4. My Hitman 2 levels and progress were just about the only things still tying me to that platform. Now I can get Hitman 3 on the PS4 and import all my progress, and also get myself a shiny new Xbox Series X for all my other gaming needs.

No matter how wide the FOV is in VR you still can't see what's to the very left and right and certainly what's behind you.

You move your head like real life

This better come to PC VR.  I'm still bitter about RE7

The odd thing about that case is that it was explicitly a 12-month timed exclusive, so ostensibly Capcom could've added PCVR support years ago.

From the wording I'm pretty sure this VR mode will be on PC, as if it were a timed or indefinite exclusive feature I think they'd be more explicit about it. Probably just being vague for now as I'm guessing Sony supported/funded the VR development in some capacity.

What I think might be more challenging is the movement. I don’t really see how teleporting will work with hitman: it’s not been designed for it, and the most nerve wracking bits are where you’re trying to stroll away from the scene.

but if you’re doing movement on sticks (which is what is implied by the trailer), then it’s immediately quite uncomfortable for a lot of people and my understanding of PSVR is that you can’t really turn round on the spot because your hands will suddenly be occluded.

Will probably be the Skyrim VR movement scheme for the Move controllers, which works...ok. Tilt to move, rather than sticks.

In the announcement yesterday, ioi have stated that you can use a frying pan and swing it at any angle to hit somebody, then hold it up and use it as a defensive shield against bullets. That doesn't sound like it will support the DS4.

Clearly the way you play will be different in VR, and I won't be surprised if they 'cheese' it a bit with things directly behind you, but in general I feel much more that I understand a 3d space in vr than in 2d.

I play Elite and some of the 'guardian sites' are quite complex and in 2d I was very confused. I played a bit in 3d to get the geography right and then could be more effective in 2d as well.
I wonder if that will be the same in Hitman... Also even if it is a bit janky and you get spotted a bit more because you cannot quite see the door in front and behind you at the same time... it is still gonna be bloody amazing.

There's a new video about the VR implementation, although it doesn't get into too many specifics. There are snippets of new footage, though:

Still no mention of PCVR support but similarly no claims of exclusivity, so I maintain that it's just contractual silence.

My worry is that this is part of the PlayStation blitz that was promised and it'll be exclusive to them. All this console war stuff is bullshit but I'm really starting to genuinely hate Sony with this shit. If this is exclusive to the shittiest VR solution then I'll be so annoyed.

I can understand IO going after the Epic money. They've had some rough times (the Noclip about Hitman is really good btw).

The manor level looks ace. The new trilogy could have a shot at being the best trilogy in gaming I'd say.

In fairness to IO they’ve been really smart with the deals they’ve made around Hitman 3 prior to launch which has allowed them to deliver the game they wanted and to keep pushing forward with the pretty exciting unannounced titles they’ve got coming.

I see they're changing the way elusive targets work although haven't said how yet. I don't really buy games at launch but would have considered this one based on how much I've liked that feature in the past. Then again, if they change it so it doesn't need to be done at a specific time, I can wait and save some cash.

Genuine question: why does this matter? You click on an icon which loads a launcher so you can play your game. I don’t much care whether that launcher is Steam, uPlay or Epic. If they’ve made a ton of cash that has allowed them to make the game they want, at no additional cost or inconvenience to you, why is this not a good thing?

Assuming it will see the steam versions I own to unlock the early game levels I don't care too much, and I think the price competition for devs has been good... but I just like having my stuff in one place :D

I do use the gog launcher more now, so maybe I care less than I did.
