In some videos they talk about how the characters are going to do amazing things, and how we have been with them so long we have a connection to them...

I have literally no clue about the 'plot' beyond murder man murders rich people. I hope they don't try and make story come forwards beyond the murdering!

Genuine question: why does this matter? You click on an icon which loads a launcher so you can play your game. I don’t much care whether that launcher is Steam, uPlay or Epic. If they’ve made a ton of cash that has allowed them to make the game they want, at no additional cost or inconvenience to you, why is this not a good thing?

I don't think people will like this but it's my genuine answer.

Nothing to do with having another launcher. I have the Epic launcher, and several free games. It's more to do with the fact I simply disagree with the practice of buying exclusives, so I refuse to support it.

That and I use a Steam Link a lot, which is less of a good reason but it does affect me.

Confession time.    I love the Hitman games.   The forum revival of Blood Money when we all played along and told our stories is my favourite rllmuk memory.    I bought Hitman 1 & 2 on release and bought the season passes and have, so far, played no further than Sapienza, excepting that I played Hakes Bay when it first came out.

I adore the ambition on display and the clockwork nature of the levels but I am just not focused enough to follow a level through to completion, and as little as the story matters I cannot bring myself to play them out of order and so I always reach the same impasse.

I will buy Hitman 3 on release and I will play through the introductory level to see the improvements that have been made.  I'll even import all of Hitman 1 & 2 so that I have all of the levels in one place for when I decide to continue, which will never happen.  But I will be happy knowing that I've helped ioi continue to make these glorious sandboxes for other people to enjoy and one day I hope that they will finally see reason and make a sequel to Freedom Fighters.

Surely that's only an issue if it actually prevents you from playing the game?

I mean, I get why Xbox and PC owners are annoyed about Spider-Man being a PlayStation exclusive in the new Avengers game. Sony's obviously chucked a load of money around to make sure their version is the best (or, conversely, to ensure other versions are worse). But with Epic it literally doesn't matter, you can still play the game exactly the same as you could otherwise. You're literally preventing yourself from playing Hitman 3 (which is going to be AMAZING) because you prefer one small black icon over another small black icon.

With regard to Steam Link - it might work if you add the games as a non-Steam game, it definitely does for uPlay because I used to play Assassin's Creed Syndicate via Steam Link.

I couldn't even tell you what the story of Hitman 1 and 2 actually is, it really doesn't matter. In fact I think I ended up skipping the static cutscenes in the second game.

Some friends became enemies and enemies became friends. With added baldness.

I feel like it was a bit dodgy in the case of crowdfunded games, when backers had already been explicitly told they would recieve steam keys. Not sure I see the problem here though. Good deal for IO I imagine which gives them a bit more financial security.

You can add a game from a different store in Steam, and then launch it from the Steam Link. I've done this with Origin games in the past, pretty easy to do.

This, Shenmue 3 explicitly promised a "Steam key" for instance.

Gog Galaxy basically removed any reason to care beyond that, although Epic's client/store is still a horrible featureless mess compared to Steam.  Then again, Steam probably has too many features now.

I’m just grateful that when they almost went to the wall IO Interactive were able to survive, retain the rights to their IP and continue to make Hitman games that didn’t need to pander to the whims of a large publisher’s mass-market desires. So anything that strengthens them financially, doesn’t fuck anyone over and enables them to continue doing what they do best is a win in my eyes.

It’s a minor miracle that something as dense and idiosyncratic as the Hitman games get made these days, so if Epic’s financial offerings help that to continue then ultimately I’m all for it and I don’t really see a downside apart from the minor inconvenience of PC players having to fire up the Epic launcher rather than Steam.

framerate (first clip) and the forced perspective change (the tap guard on shoulder, suddenly guard has moved round you to the right and you’re suddenly facing him) really don’t. The second in particular suggests vomit to me.

Yeah it’s a shame that they NEED to have this running on the base PS4 because it’s really not an easy task and they’ve needed to cut a lot of corners. They’ve come on leaps and bounds from where they were six months ago though so   I’m confident they can get a solid base experience done.

We’re excited to announce that HITMAN 3 will be coming to Nintendo Switch, playable via cloud streaming technology.

Whether players are new to the franchise or familiar with the series, they’ll enjoy a globetrotting adventure to sprawling sandbox locations as Agent 47 returns for the most important contracts of his entire career.

To celebrate the news, take a look at our Nintendo Switch Announcement Trailer with some previously unseen footage from HITMAN 3.

I posted in the other thread but it's not "Coming to Switch" is it?  Any more than Forza Horizon 4 has an Android port. (Except you might at least expect an Android device to be always online unlike a Switch, a portable wifi only console).

This had better not become a fucking trend.

You can see a phone number in that image and the area code matches up. Just call me Sherlock. :sherlock:

Here's the video, Sherlock!

Looking great, and Hitman 1 and 2 will be playable in the new engine as well. Hitman 2016 is absolutely a candidate for "Videogame I insist is excellent despite having not actually finished it myself" but I own both now since they've been on sale so cheaply. I feel guilty enough to pay full price for this sequel. Maybe I'll even finish the older games before it releases.

So if I buy this on my imaginary PS5 from the future, all my PS4 H1 and 2 levels will be there, and this time it's going to carry all my progress over too?

I want to buy it on my Series S but I'm presuming it's not going to carry PS4-Xbox as we can't just all get along.
