Track your gaming expenditure 2020

Recommended Posts

Quote

I have a novel idea. Those of us brave enough to do so should track every penny we spend on gaming for the whole year, right here in this thread. Keep editing your original post with your latest purchases and a running total, then come the end of the year we can all goggle at just how much money we've ploughed into being stilted adolescent manbabies!

Every bit of hardware, every game, every subscription, every bit of dlc, every conceivable penny that you've outlayed on our hobby. Do you have the cojones?

Thanks for this :D No pre-orders just yet, but I need a place to keep track of potential purchases!

Last year (okay, it's still this year at the time of writing) I was (have been) kind of well-behaved; I didn't really splash out on impulse buys and (outside of the full-price games I was always going to get) I only made a few small sale purchases, so I've saved a bit for 2020 (where I may make bigger spends ;) ) I might be moving to PC gaming so I don't know if I'll need a PS+ renewal, but there are still some console exclusives to pick up!

This thread will go great for the majority of 2020 for a lot of people I think, and then dive over the cliff edge when the new consoles launch.

My goal this year is to only buy things that I'm actually ready to immediately play - I've got a ridiculous backlog of games on Steam which I picked up on sale and never played, so I'm convinced I'm better off holding fire until I'm going to play a game, even if it means paying full price/missing a deal. That said, I completely ignored that logic over Christmas (hello Obra Dinn, Journey, Disco Elysium, Telling Lies, and A Short Hike, welcome to my backlog!)

January

What the Golf? - £5.99 (after £10 coupon applied on the Epic store)

Dicey Dungeons - £7.97 (Steam)

Horace - £0 (free on Epic store - was going to buy this anyway so this was a nice surprise)

February

Hades - £8.99 (after £10 coupon applied on the Epic store)

Thinking about this, shouldn't we all be dividing up our subscriptions, too? That's where you get stung! Game Pass etc, PS+, XBL...

There's probably an element of that, though some of us will be loaded up for a few years to come via various deals and offers I suspect (I know I am)
