They've got their Reacher. Alan Ritchson, also currently playing Hawk in Titans. With all the talk of Cruise being physically wrong, this obviously gets mentioned. He is 6’4” and 235 pounds compared to Reacher's 6’5″ and 210 to 250-pounds. He was also in Smallville years ago (Aquaman) and Hunger Games and was a model, which explains why there's so many topless pictures of him when I went to search.

Seems more self aware than the books. Not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. The complete lack of irony is part of the charm of the novels.

Then again, the same can be said of the Bond books which Reacher shares some DNA with. And look how a lot of the Bond films turned out. Reacher is a similarly ludicrous character played completely straight on the page. Pretty to easy go more tongue in cheek when transferring him to the screen.

Yeah the tone of that seems very different from The Killing Floor and pretty much every Jack Reacher book I have read. Think I have read about 12. Even the movies play the more humorous aspects of Reacher and his situations very carefully, while this feels like its diving right into the absurdity of things and playing it with a much lighter tone. To be fair that might actually help it work better as a TV show.

Anyway I'm in :) Ritchson was one of the best things in a progressively weak Titans so looking forward to him as Reacher.

About 20mins into the first episode and this feels very much like what I envisioned whilst reading the books. Finally a Reacher of the right proportions.

Very early days but so far so good.

I started watching earlier out of curiosity, I just finished the sixth episode, it's really good imo.

Alan Richston absolutely nails being Reacher. The size, the confidence, the intelligence and awareness plus the sheer brutal violence he can call on when needed.

Yeah.  It's very solid.  I read The Killing Floor years ago and the fresh tarmack road, the diner and Reacher all leap off the screen.

He's not my Reacher (that was always Marv from Sin City) but he's as close as makes zero difference.

I’ve read a lot of the books out of order but read The Killing Floor last September. This really matches exactly what was in my head while reading. Absolutely brilliant so far and glad to hear it’s getting good reviews!

Watched the first 2 tonight; my wife is a fan of the books and actually likes the Cruise films (but constantly says he’s not big enough). First thing she said was “They finally got someone the right size”. A big thumbs up from both of us. Great bit of telly.
