I'm currently playing Part 1 remake on PS5 and I don't see any point in playing it actually. (I don't replay games and watching the show already feels like replaying the game)

Off to trading folder it is!

It’s an incredible game, you really, really should play it.

He has played it

I like the TV show. I think Joel and Tess are great. Didn’t expect to be scared by a clicker, I can take 6 of those down no problem, and bleed ‘em real quiet.

Ellie isn’t quite right for me yet. The game version seemed more vulnerable and fragile, instinctively wanted to protect her. The TV one seems much more smart-arsed and a bit annoying. But there’s the hint of a relationship with Joel that might work.

Agree the prologue bits are a highlight.

Also agree on the car thing someone mentioned - reminded me a bit of the i3 I spotted in “the girl with all the gifts” which was a low budget post-apocalypse riff off tlou but the rest of the visuals are impressive and the sound editing is superb.

Already played it on PS3 and the remaster on 4. The little I played of the PS5 version I was just like "done this already, looks nice though"

Realised I don't want to play it again as I'm watching the show. It's been sold in trading. :)

Damn. I just completed it last night and it’s a masterpiece, all the little details really add to the experience.

I’ve watched the first episode of this and I love it, although it’s quite depressing. I think I’ve OD’d on TLOU

We watched the second episode again last night. Anna Torv's constant "What the fuck?", "Let's get the fuck out of here." dialogue quickly became wearing. Badly written and not help by the fact that she's an unconvincing swearer. Ian McShane she isn't. The likes of Deadwood turned swearing into an art form. Used well it can be very... fucking... effective. San Francisco cocksucker!

I watched the first 20-odd minutes of episode 1 and have decided to ‘nope’ out. The death of Joel’s daughter has managed to get me again and I simply can’t watch it anymore.

Game or film, it’s such a brilliant opening, but reminds me why I don’ want to go through the wringer again.

Well it doesn't happen again, does it?

Sure, but the whole world is so fucking depressing, I don't need to see it in my life anymore. I'm very glad I played the game a couple of times, but that's more than enough for me.

Just a page or two ago I posted that I wondered why they hadn’t cast original actress Annie Wersching as Tess, given that she was the right age, look, and so on. Unfortunately and very sadly she passed away from cancer today at the age of 45 after being diagnosed in 2020.

I thought I had steeled myself against the hype, and was actually rolling my eyes a little at the tropes in the middle.

Blubbering mess.

Spoiler

We got our Home Depot scene tho, sort of!

You wait til you see the second game

Oh, that one will never get a replay from me.

I'm glad I got through it, but by fuck it's a cruel, cruel world they live in. I don't think it's as good a game as the first, nor do I think it ever needed to be made but if they had to have made a sequel, they did a worthy job of it.

Aside from the musical numbers. I didn't like them one bit.

Oh I loved those bits. A slice of normality. That’s what made the end so much more impactful.

Yeah that was brilliant. Vague spoilers ahead:

Spoiler

At one point I thought it was getting maybe a little cheesy, but I was in bits by the time the last meal scene was playing out. Overall it was really well done.

Oh, and the letter got me as well.:(

If I was going to nitpick

Spoiler

Why on earth was Bill shooting at the raiders out in the open? Find some fucking cover man! Would have thought that would be something Druckman in particular would pick up on as being a bit silly given he's specialised in cover shooters for years.

Only justification I can think of is the idea that Bill got extremely complacent after years with Frank.
