The friendly people at GAME

Anyway. I wen't into my local GAME store at Meadowhall today to buy a copy of Counter-strike because I'd heard so much about it's goodness over Live. Upon picking up the game and taking it to the counter to pay, the person serving me asked me if I had Live, of course I said yes and he wen't off to put the disk into the box.

When he came back he asked me politely if I knew my Gamertag [i don't know why anyone wouldn't] so I told him what it was and he wrote down his and gave it to me, he said that he'd have me a game of Counter-strike sometime. I diddn't know what to say... the first thing that popped into my head was to ask what else he played which he answered: Rainbow Six 3. Great I thought, thats probably my favourate game on Live, definately the one I spend the most amount of time playing anyway.

I only came in to buy a game, I came out with a new online friend (hopefully)

Right, I'm off to practise my skills offline, I hope to be playing [and kicking your asses] online tommorrow night.

You UK people should be glad there's specialist videogame stores in your country. In Holland we only get to buy our games at toystores or recordshops. With people who know shit about the stuff they sell, let alone games. When you ask if they stock Grand Theft Auto for the GameCube, they will check the computer or ask their manager. TRUFAX!

Yeah, but you do smoke loads of drugs.

Its not suprising people forget.

Ah, the joys of doped-up Rez.

I kicked the habit 2 years ago, though

Oh, and I forgot to add they only charge the RRP here. No discounts, unless it's old drivel that can't be sold to anyone. So importing from Play.com or Amazon.co.uk is actually cheaper, even though they have to pack it and send it across the channel. How sad is that?

Some nice people at Canterbury Game helped me select the correct cable for my Gamecube. They're not all bad, the people working in shops are just people, and there's good people and bad people and people that are stroppy at work and etc etc..

I used to work at Game, and people really did know about games, just chose not to show it because the general public sucks.

Great!

Thing is, I like games (shock) and I could happily talk about them for most of the day if I worked in a games store. I don't like coffee, which is probably why I didn't like working in a coffee shop (Well, that and I was basically a kitchen bitch). Anyway, it's probably the case that the people who give you shit in shops are people who've just fired their CV off to every shop in the near region and took the first one that came back.

Except in my case, of course. I doubt this type of person knows what a BBA is, let alone they're in short supply.

The guys at the Ealing branch aren't too bad. I bought Sonic Adventure DX for PC (Hey it was £20, cheaper than online) but the disc had cracks on it before I'd used it. Went back, the guy offered a refund without any of that "You've unpacked it, used it, scratched it" shite. I woulda exchanged it, but every other copy had the crack in exactly the same place! Dodgy batch perhaps? *sigh* And SEGA wonder why they don't sell...

Princes Street Edinburgh has a great guy who knows a hell of a lot. He's a bit off-target with Resi Zero at times (a bit too speculative) but he never lies outright, and he knows his games.

Which one? There are, like, 8 GAMES on Princes Street.

The staff in GAME in lewisham are alright, expect for the long heaired bearded nonce. I just don't like the look of him, and my money is on him having a hard disc full of dodgy porn.

lol! That employee must be the basis all the ones at the Inverness store use for image. They all have long hair and beards (well, apart from the fine young woman that was around at christmas, and seemed strangely interested when i picked up gregory horror.). Come to think of it - so do I.

I'll check him out on Saturday, if I get the chance. Sounds like my kinda people
