Another Broken Skull Ranch fan here, i love that show.

Kitchen Nightmares and Bar Rescue are both hideously awesome.

Temptation Island is also great. Some seriously gorgeous people testing their relationships by mixing with other gorgeous people. I cant remember which of the 1st or 2nd season but there was one legit breakdown.

Tanked for me.  A show all about a family firm in Vegas who install novelty aquariums for celebrities across the US.  I can’t turn it off if I come on it whilst flicking.

Deadliest Warrior was wicked and so utterly trashy. Historians of debatable repute theorise which fighting forces were the best by comparing weapons, tactics, etc. Then we see a dramatic recreation where vikings have a tear up with some samurai in a laser quest arena or something equally amazing. I did not learn a solitary thing about history and watched every single episode.

Chasing Classic Cars on quest.

Follows “Wayne Carini “ as he buys old cars to flip or restore. Every episode without question, he over estimates the value of his cars and loses fortunes at auction

He’s clearly a dealer first, TV guy second, always calm... There are no false deadlines to add drama, nor wacky characters, just some amazing cars found in barns etc.

Coach Trip

Homes Under the Hammer

Queer Eye

Take Me Out

Rust Valley Restorers

Fastest Car

Gotham Garage

Storage Wars/Hunters

Probably many many more that I can't recall right now but my taste in TV is so bad.

I have The Professionals on Blu-ray and it looks amazing, far better than the crappy versions on TV which have some weird green Vaseline smeared all over the lens effect. Probably takes away some of the grime. It looks like the seventies were only yesterday, it looks that good. It being filmed entirely on 16mm probably helped with the restoration.

There’s one episode on Blu-ray that I think only ever got aired once on TV. They never repeat it. And that’s because it’s so racist, it’s jaw dropping.

Klansmen was shown on ITV4 a while back.  Or at least, it was on the EPG, annoyingly I didn't get chance to see if they actually broadcast it.

Deadliest Catch and Ice road truckers were a guilty background pleasure. I never really paid attention they were just noise when doing other things. These were genius, they were the same every week, but somehow different.

I also loved Gold Rush, but really only when the Hoffman crew were in it as laughable morons making fuck up after fuck up. the last two seasons have had to focus on human drama as opposed to a complete idiot  trusting prayer and "a frickin gut feeling" to grab failure from the jaws of success. Todd Hoffman couldn't find gold in a jewelry store.

I have spent an inordinate amount of time in Flavourtown with yer boy Guy Fieri. I think initially you have no idea why you’re watching this obnoxiously loud middle age teenager yam down things called ‘garbage can sloppy Joes’ in a desperate truck stop in Bumfuck, USA. But then his subtle frosted tipped charms begin to reveal themselves, much like his wraparound Oakley’s slipping into view. He has a genuine enthusiasm for the people he meets and that goes a long way. He must have a cardiologist on speed-dial with some of the shite he eats, but he’s doing important work and almost certainly has a Sum 41 cassette in that sports car he roars off in at the end of each episode. Triple D is a state of mind.

Ready Steady Cook. The new version. With Rylan. Love it.

Is Not Going Out shit? Should I be guilty? Or is it actually unappreciated quality wisecracking comedy?

Yep, read that article before but decided to read it all again!! The following happens in literally every episode...

Quote

The main thing I learnt from television of this period, though – and this most certainly applies to The Pros – is that whenever one man walks into a room in which another man is sitting, the second man will get up and pour them both a large neat whisky, in the middle of the day. Often the first man will down it in one, and then hold out his glass for another. Were people just half-pissed all the time in those days? How did anyone get anything done?

I'd be amazed if that episode of Klansmen was uncut, if they did end up showing it. Unless they genuinely can't be arsed to check the content of an episode these days.

Check out Ink Master if you haven’t already.

I’m on a dating show binge at the moment, Married at First Sight, 90 Day Fiancé, Love is Blind.. Also enjoy Top Chef, The Challenge, Survivor.

edit: almost forgot, Below Deck, that’s definitely a favorite.

I was quite put out that if you record the current series at the 9pm showing on UK History Channel, they’ve edited out Doug’s tests of the finalists’ blades. Luckily they’ve not done it with the midnight/1am broadcast.

The last series of UK Married at First Sight was funny. He's an earnest asexual dork that showers his new wife with creepy gifts; she's a Cards Against Humanity playing piss-can who hates absolutely everything. They're the original odd couple! Will it work out? Maybe let's get someone claiming to be psychologist to mediate an argument with them. But look, it says right here you both like bread and are clearly damaged from previous relationships. Our science suggests you should be the perfect match.

That's outrageous. How are viewers meant to know if it will kill?

Ibiza Weekender.

It makes no sense why I watch this:

  • It's absolute fucking trash
  • Every person in it is annoying
  • I wouldn't want to be anywhere near any of them or the places they go to if you paid me
  • I hate the music
  • It makes me hope to god I wasn't as irritating as these wankers when I was in my early to mid 20's
  • Every one of these vacuous morons says the word 'like' at least 3 times per sentence

It's absolute dreck - yet I still watch it.  Maybe it's because Joe Lycett does the narration which is piss-takingly funny?

Exactly ! No-one gives a shit if Dave bends a sword to 50 degrees and it returns to true, they want to see if Doug cuts the head off a ballistics dummy !

Love Island fan here. More the Australian one though. Aussies seem to just do reality shows the best nowadays. Have to echo the Australian MasterChef love as well.

VH1 had an amazing trash tv period in the mid 00's. The Surreal Life, Flavor of Love with Flavor Flav, Rock of Love with Bret Michaels and all the mad spin off shows. I miss the days of torrenting all that crap.

When we were in New York in late Feb, we fell into a portal of TLC and 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days.

TLC was one of the free channels offered by Virgin during the start of lockdown, so we dipped into it again.

My wife is also addicted to repeats of Toddlers and Tiaras.

Yeah, theres also a show called cutting deeper which is a different edit and has as you say, no ballistic dummy massacres.

Theres a show called Fire Masters on Blaze (164) which is a BBQ cooking comp. I bloody love it. Not quite Beat Bobby Flay.

Combat Dealers is fucking ace too.

There was a show about butchers in almost exactly the same format as Forged in Fire that I caught literally once a couple of months ago. Four butchers being asked to produce different cuts from portions of meat which are then assessed for perfection by a group of master butchers, like how thick the steaks were, how well tied the joints were, etc etc. The final two had to fully butcher a wild boar into as many cuts as possible in the allotted time, and the master butchers assessed the results based on projected monetary yield.

I love all these antique shows.

There's a new one called bidding wars or something which I'm enjoying.

No shame!

The seemingly endless number of shows on DMax or Quest set in Alaska due to what I’m sure are very favourable tax breaks. Alaska The Last Frontier where the homestead is only a few miles from town not that you’d know it from watching the show,  Gold Divers, Life below Zero and Deadliest Catch repeats. I’ll also watch any show like Fast & Loud even though the cars usually end up looking awful.

Yeah ive seen that. Make a dozen exact 1/4lbers etc. Theres a really hot female judge on it also.

When Spike was still on Sky there was a furniture making show presented by Common that was hilarious.
