Okay, I had a long think about this in the shower and surely this could only mean that Microsoft gave them a big cheque to reveal their big games at an Xbox Series X event, possibly even as timed or console exclusives.

I assumed something similar for the bizarre “we are releasing 9 Switch games but we won’t tell you what they are” section but it sounds like there won’t be a Nintendo Direct any time soon.

when was the last time activision etc.

Basically EA have their sports franchises, which are never going to blow our minds, and the Sims, ditto. Squadrons would have worked amazingly I suspect, but got leaked last week. Probably the last time they showed something that made everyone sit up and take notice was the first anthem demo, and we know how that turned out!

Sekiro? People weren't happy when it turned out Activision were publishing it but they were still excited about playing the game.

Maybe I had unrealistic expectations but at the start of this generation I thought EA were in a really strong position to go and make some great games but they just seemed to have coasted through it.

Just scrubbed through it all this morning. Terrible, even by EA standards.

Would have been less terrible if Squadrons hadn’t leaked.

Squadrons looked ok, but I’m not really into space flying usually. It looked fun, but I’m worried how you deliver a cinematic story when your player is trapped in a cockpit. I’m guessing the answer is hundreds of cutscenes. The gameplay looked cool, and I think it’s clever that they’ve got a plan for how you learn in single player then move on to multi.

So whats wrong with EA? I'm sure they're in a solid position financially but it feels like every year we watch their E3 press conference thing and hope that this is the year EA show off something cool looking. When was the last E3 where they showed something that people were still talking about at the end of the week? Titanfall 2? I know people were interested in Respawns Star Wars game but I don't remember it being a wow moment.

Am I crazy for expecting one of the biggest publishers out there to occasionally show off something awesome around E3 time?

They don’t really have any exciting games though. Maybe Squadrons will be different but honestly their last Star Wars game was incredibly bland. Their good looking games either turn out to be more boring than they looked, or actively shite. Even their good franchises are mostly full of shite games. They make crap for people who don’t know what to buy, like the PC World of game publishers.

I think they probably don’t have any?

Their next gen tease was “don’t forget we own criterion and dragon age will be shit as well soon”.

Was just looking at the prices for Skate 3 and it's going for £15-20 second-hand on 360 and PS3. Why is it so steep? I don't remember paying that for my PS3 copy.

EA turned the servers back around a year ago so that may have seen the prices rise. Also, we’ve been starved of skate games in the last ten years. Now we’ve got 4 coming out! :)

Hey guys, I've got an announcement. Half Life 3 is coming! Very early stages though, we have nothing to show you. But it's coming.
